Have started a new thread for people expecting mid/end December. This is my First pregnancy and found out I was pregnant 13/04. Due date is 15/12 so am 6+4. Booked an early scan which we're having tomorrow as we have been trying for 3yrs and just want the reassurance as dr doesn't want to see me, midwife still a couple of weeks away and nhs scan 12wk booked for 4/06 (previously told we might not be able to get pregnant). Few symptoms, sore boobs, bloated tummy, peeing lots and stretching feeling across tummy but no sickness. Am so anxious about everything especially with the MC rates. Just really hoping to see something positive on the scan tomorrow! 🤞🏻🤞🏻
Congratulations to you all - definitely the best Christmas present I could have hoped for (so long as everything ok!!)

Hi, congratulations to you!

I’m in exactly the same boat, we’ve been trying for 2.5 years and were waiting for our first round of IVF and all of a sudden I seem to be pregnant! I’m really anxious too and not counting any chickens as it’s early days yet. I am about 6-7 weeks but not seen GP yet, also have sore boobs, bloating and heart burn and lower back ache on top of that. I have had some spotting for about a week now which is concerning but I am hoping it will all be ok! Will try to see the GP tomorrow, good luck with the scan! How do you even go about booking one privately?!

natashalouise87 · 25/04/2018 12:31

I just googled 'early viability / reassurance' scans in my area and found a clinic 'window to the womb' who do them. It's £79 and my local hospital I've just found out offer them from 6 weeks for £60. I've read so many things from people though, some that say they've seen a heartbeat, some that say they saw an empty sac and so I'm just hoping tomorrow will give me reassurance and not make me feel worse! It seems everyone's journey is so different it's hard to know what you should be expecting! Congrats to you too! I know so many people who have started on the road to IVF and ended up pregnant, we didn't get onto the what next bit as have had a busy couple of years but have been not using anything in the hope it might just happen and nearly 3 years later, it has!xx

Thank you, I’ll see what the GP days but may look into that myself as I would prefer to have some reassurance sooner rather than later! Good luck tomorrow, will keep everything crossed for you!

35counting · 26/04/2018 14:13

How did your scan go? I went to GP this morning, she referred me straight to EPU for a scan and turns out I am only 5+5 so not much to see at all, that being said all looks ok for this early stage and have to go back in 2 weeks for another one, glad to hear there is no noticeable ‘issue’. Seems like an awful long time to wait now until we can tell people though (if it all goes ok)! Thinking of you!

R7589 · 26/04/2018 15:28

Hi @natashalouise87 I'm due the exact same date as you, making me 6+5 today also.
This is our first pregnancy but we haven't been trying too long 4-5 months total. I want a reassurance scan just because I'm so nervous and had a bleed last week, but drs don't seem too bothered and are happy for my MW app on 11th May and scan on 7th June.
My symptoms have escalated this week big time - a lot of nausea, exhausted and my sense of smell is through the roof. Actually had to take day off work due to it.

Hope your scan goes well

Mami2boys · 27/04/2018 22:00

Hi hope it’s ok to join, I have to boys 10 and 6 , we have been trying for almost 2 years, and just as I was getting use to the idea of staying a family of 4 boom no period and positive test , my due date was 22 December, but after some bloody brown discharge yesterday and cramps (also had 1 prev miscarriage) , rang the epu had a appointment straight , all was good but I have a small bleed which should be fine but need to take it easy, but my new EDD is 24/12/18 Shock still very nervous but trying to stay positive x

tasha124 · 28/04/2018 08:21

It's taken me a couple of days to post but went for my early scan (6+5) and the sonographer said I am pregnant, he could see the gestational sac and yolk sac but no fetal pole. Measuring at 7.9mm (should be nearer 19mm at 6wks plus) so now I am completely panicking as he said he can't confirm viability until he sees a baby/heartbeat. Booked back in for two weeks time but the anxiety is unbearable. He said it's perhaps just that I came too early and if I ovulated late, then I'm probably not quite where I think I am in terms of dates but it's stressing me out cos obviously they go from date of LMP. Anyone else had similar? We didn't think we could have children and so this is my miracle baby and I can't get my head around the fact that it might not be the good news we'd initially thought. Scared, worried, anxious but trying to stay positive and strong and grow this little bean as much as I can between now and then!x

35counting · 28/04/2018 21:52

I really feel for you @tasha124, perhaps you are in a similar position to me though (as you suggest) and that you are much earlier on that you first thought? They went on measurements for me and I was 2 weeks out. Are you still getting other symptoms? My boobs are agony and have been having cramps (although more like a dull ache) for past couple of days, I also have the nose of a blood hound! I’m taking that as a good sign but am still anxious about the spotting (which continues on and off). I agree than the next 2 weeks will be so difficult but you’re doing the best thing by resting and taking things easy! Try not to worry too much.
Welcome @Mami2boys, congratulations and hope things settle down, keeping fingers crossed for us all!

Hod19 · 29/04/2018 07:36

Hi All,

Hope it's ok to join. I'm just over 7 weeks now, have been trying for a year & day before we had docs appointment to start investigations I got my BFP. I'm thinking of booking in for an early scan, my midwife (met on Thurs) said it's good to ease anxiety!
Symptoms wise I've had no sickness but sore boobs, lower back pain and completely exhausted! Can't wait to get a scan for reassurance that all is ok. Think I'm due around 14th Dec depending on cycle length mine are irregular so we shall see!

35counting · 29/04/2018 08:34

Welcome @Hod19 and congratulations! A scan after 7 weeks should give you some reassurance. I have to wait another 10 days for mine and the worry in the interim is dreadful!

I had a really bad night last night, painful legs, headache and slightly nauseous and I have woken up with the ‘hungover’ feeling a lot of people have described. I hope the headache eases soon. I went to the gym yesterday and am now worried that I shouln’t have and that I’m detracting vital body activity away from baby development. Has anyone else started/carried on excercising? Any advice on how much is ok to do? I did try to take it easy, just doing some light cycling (running makes me anxious because of the impact), assisted weights (as opposed to usual free weights) and stretching, nothing that would make me strain. I don’t want to stop altogether as exercise is good for pregnancy but feel I may have overdone it and that’s why I had such a disturbed night?!

Hod19 · 29/04/2018 08:46

@35counting I got in to yoga at the start of the year to try to de-stress to help with TTC and my midwife said it's great to continue but just nothing that pulls on my abdomen. Maybe it's worth asking a personal trainer for some advice on what's best? I'm going to try pregnancy yoga I think & just heaps of walking!
When are you planning to tell people? My mom knows & my best friend but we're not telling anyone else until after the 12 week hospital scan.

Mami2boys · 29/04/2018 09:18

I have stopped gym only because In my head when I lost before I think I may have overdone it, but loads of people carry on like normal and realisticly if your just doing what your use to it should be fine (hopefully I will get back to it after 12 weeks when I feel more Positive) but I am doing very long walks between 2-5 miles. We have told 3 close friends my mum/gran and a handful in Work as I’m a carer, for me I needed to tell a few to make it more real Smile

35counting · 29/04/2018 09:28

Thanks both, we haven’t told anyone as are so anxious that it won’t stick! We may reassess once we’ve had the next scan if everything is ok. I’d love to tell my mum as we’ve been TTC for so long and it would stop her worrying about IVF! I just don’t want to do anything to jinx it!

Hod19 · 29/04/2018 15:02

@35counting will keep everything crossed for you that's it's ok. After a year my mom was worrying a lot so I told her, mainly because I knew I'd need her support if it goes wrong.
@Mami2boys I know what you mean about telling people making it more real, feels very surreal until you tell people. We're telling my two brothers tonight - I'm excited & nervous!! Defo not telling anyone else then until after the scan!

Mami2boys · 29/04/2018 17:28

@35counting I’ll also keep my fingers crossed for you, where you using a fertility monitor ? I borrowed one off my friend and fell pregnant the second month on it . @Hod19 it is lovely sharing it with a few as it gives you that excitement back from all the worry. I’m off work at the moment as there’s no way I can take it easy on nights, but all this spare time is not good . X

Hod19 · 29/04/2018 19:50

@Mami2boys we're just back from telling my brothers, they were both so happy. Reminds you it's actually something exciting & lovely rather than just worry!
Hoping I get my hospital letter this week for my first scan. Midwife said I should hear before Friday.

MrsCrumbtious · 30/04/2018 05:59

I’m tentatively popping my head in here too. This is our first BFP after 3 years TTC, we were due to hand in our consent forms the day after we got our positive test ❤️. Early scan yesterday showed my little crumb with its heart beating away (the most amazing experience ever 😍)
EDD 22/12/18 nice to meet you all!

Hod19 · 30/04/2018 07:08

@MrsCrumbtious congratulations on your BFP! That must have been such a lovely surprise after trying for 3yrs! How many weeks were you at your scan?

MrsCrumbtious · 30/04/2018 07:20

@Hod19 I was 6+4, they dated me at 6+1 but they managed to do it abdominaly so wonder if that’s why they said it was a couple of days behind? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Mami2boys · 30/04/2018 08:14

@crumbtious when I had my early scan I should be 5+7 as I know my ovulation date but they said I was measuring at 5+3 but there was a strong heart beat which eased my mind a bit , hoping it’s just a slow grower xx

Hod19 · 01/05/2018 08:39

Morning ladies,
Woke up with light bleeding today. No pain & still have sore boobs. The bleeding is brownish red. I've txt my midwife for some advice but can't help but think the worst. Has anyone else had bleeding around week 8/9?

Mami2boys · 01/05/2018 09:14

@hod19 obviously I’m less than you but myn was browny in colour and a bit like discharge sorry tmi. But if I where you just ring your local epu unit and say you have bleed and hopefully they should book u in , I know you don’t but mention you have cramps to as it might help you get seen quicker. I’m sure everything is ok but definitely worth putting your mind at ease. Hopefully your epu is as lovely as myn xxx

35counting · 01/05/2018 09:23

Morning ladies, @Hod19 I am coincidentally in the same position this morning and contemplating calling the epu, not sure I can wait until next Thursday for my next scan! I’ve had spotting on and off for a while but they couldn’t see a problem last week. I feel like I’m making a fuss if I go back this soon but this morning it is more like blood than the brown spotting so I am worried! Haven’t heard from the midwife yet so I don’t have contact details for her. I’ll see if it settles and if not give them a call I think. Hope everything is ok for you @Hod19

Hod19 · 01/05/2018 09:55

@35counting & @Mami2boys thank you for your advice. Not had much more but do have some mild cramps. My lovely mom came & picked me up so I'm on her sofa having a rest. I'm going to give it to lunch time and see how I am then. Trying not to panic as don't think that helps anyone.
@35counting hope everything is ok for you.
Will keep you posted. Thanks for the support, it's good to have people to talk it through with x

35counting · 01/05/2018 10:08

Called the epu, nurse was lovely and quite reassuring, said that as I have been spotting anyway and had a scan last week which showed no issues she is not overly concerned, told me to call back if it continues/gets worse but otherwise to wait until scan next week, it’s going to be such a long wait!
