Loss of symptoms at 5 weeks, is it normal?

Hi all!

I posted back in feb looking for advice after a miscarriage, I found out at 8w 1d my baby had stopped growing at 5w 3d.

Fast forward 2 months and I should be 5w 1d pregnant today. I had really strong symptoms very early on like sore breasts, very nauseous, extremely tiered, always hungry and running to the loo every 5 mins so I did a FRER test 4 days early and it was a strong positive, did another test a day after af was due and again got a BFP and all symptoms were still there.

Over the last week, one by one my symptoms have vanished except sore breasts.

Sorry I must have sent before I was finished! I wanted to ask if anyone has had loss of symptoms and gone on to have a successful pregnancy? Or if not, what did you experience next?

I’m so terrified that this baby has stopped growing like that last one,

Thanks in advance, x

Hi op. I think early on in pregnancy symptoms come and go and it's usually nothing to worry about. At 5 weeks, my symptoms were there one day and gone the next and were only constant at around 8 weeks. Fingers crossed all is ok for you x

MrsCrumbtious · 22/04/2018 14:32

I could have written this myself! I’m 5+4 today and apart from firm boobs and needing to wee at 3am every day my other symptoms have gone! Would love to hear some positive stories too

MrsCrumbtious · 22/04/2018 17:36

Anyone else?

Mommabear101 · 22/04/2018 20:04

Thanks for sharing your experience with us! It’s reassuring to hear positive outcomes

It’s so worrying isn’t it Mrscrumbtious, Is this your first pregnancy? I’ve actually booked myself in for a private early scan as I don’t think I can cope with this much longer! I didn’t realise with a private scan they start at 7 weeks and not 6 like the NHS

I think it's worth remembering that many women don't begin to experience pregnancy symptoms until 6-8 weeks; it's not unusual for a woman not even to know that she's pregnant at 5 weeks. Hope you get some reassurance soon Flowers

lauryloo · 22/04/2018 20:10

I had this with both my pregnancies- don’t worry, they’ll likely be back 😂

Hollieb1987 · 22/04/2018 20:24

My symptoms come and go. Make the most of the time you spend without symptoms! I've been fine all day and tonight my boobs are on FIRE!

ThorsMistress · 22/04/2018 20:30

My symptoms went around this time too. Week 6 and BAM all day nausea, feeling exhausted all the time and constant weeing!

I’m now 18 weeks pregnant ☺️

Susanjeffery1984 · 22/04/2018 20:32

At 5 weeks I didn’t really have any symptoms but fast forward a week and the nausea, exhaustion etc hit me hard! Hope all goes well for you x

MrsCrumbtious · 22/04/2018 20:57

Mommabear101 yep this will be my first baby after ttc for 3 years so incredibly anxious and hoping symptoms will hit me with a vengeance. My hubby is convinced this baby will be fine so doesn’t think we need an early scan Hmm

MrsCrumbtious · 23/04/2018 05:39

Another day waking up with no symptoms Blush

Hollieb1987 · 23/04/2018 06:41

Another sleepless night with toilet stops and acid reflux followed by a morning of not knowing whether I want to be sick or eat everything in my fridge. I had minimal symptoms at 4-5 weeks. I'm heading into week 10 and I envy you! We had a BBQ yesterday and some of our friends were explaining they didn't not get one pregnancy symptom whilst a few of us get all at the same time. Every pregnancy is unique. Enjoy your day Smile

Rose2887 · 23/04/2018 09:13

I’m the same, toilet a lot and tired at night but nothing much, I had no sickness or nausea with my dd tho and I’m hoping I don’t this time round!!! It just doesn’t feel real when your not getting all the symptoms... my stomach is bloated though.. not sure if I’ll be bigger because it’s my second 🙈
Xx

MrsCrumbtious · 23/04/2018 17:02

I’d do anything to have some (reassuring) symptoms. So convinced this is the end of our dream 😢

Rose2887 · 23/04/2018 18:13

@MrsCrumbtious aaaw :( what’s happened? Xx

Hollieb1987 · 23/04/2018 19:09

If you feel that something is wrong you can approach your doctor about booking a scan with the early pregnancy unit at your local hospital however I don't think they see much before 6-7 weeks but worth the visit to put your mind at rest x

Mommabear101 · 23/04/2018 20:16

Thankyou for sharing your experiences and knowledge, it really is reassuring to hear. I know some of us are still really early into our pregnancies and there is plenty of time for things to change, but for me, It doesn’t somehow feel real without feeling a ‘reassurance’ symptom. I hope we all get them soon!

@Hollieb1987 aww it’s not nice when you can’t sleep and feeling exhausted, is there anything you can take to ease the reflux? I was really lucky with my first daughter and only had it twice at about 8 months and can remember thinking I was going to pass out!

OP posts:
Hollieb1987 · 23/04/2018 20:29

To be honest I'm just chugging on water to stay hydrated in the hope that it'll ease up eventually. Fingers crossed for you x

Mommabear101 · 23/04/2018 20:34

@MrsCrumbtious ah hun try to stay positive and not worry but I also know it’s easier said than done. Have you had any other signs that things may not be quite right? If it’s any concellation, with my last pregnancy it wasn’t just a loss of symptoms that caused me concern, at just over 5 weeks I’d had some bleeding which got heavier followed by pain. As Hollieb has said, you can self refer at the EPU from 6 weeks or see your doctor who can refer you but again from 6 weeks. I went at exactly 6 weeks to the day and they could already see a the sac and yolk and was able to tell me I was measuring small.

@Hollieb1987 thanks, I hope it gets easier and for you and you manage to get a better nights sleep tonight

Other than missed period I didn't have any symptoms at 5wks.
Puking started about 6 wks.
Sorry you have so many worries.

MrsCrumbtious · 23/04/2018 21:30

Pretty much all of my symptoms have gone other than fuller but not sore boobs. After practically sobbing to hubby we’ve booked a 6 week scan for Sunday. I know we may not see much but just want to know if it’s measuring right and IF there is a problem we have more time to grieve and figure out what to do next. Mr C reckons it’s my body getting used to so many hormones after missing AF then getting a huge surge of them and reading too many mc/mmc stories on Google. He’s been an absolute rock and so positive ❤️
