@MagicalCreatures so relieved for you babe. What amazing news. Bean looks gorgeous!! I'm guessing it's a little girl!!

@Cakelaur I’m so sure it’s a boy. Haha. But my sister thinks it’s a girl. We have a bet on it. 😂

kaytees · 24/05/2018 20:36

Yayyyy @MagicalCreatures what a lovely jelly bean! How exciting for you. Once you gave the 12 week scan you can start on nub theory to increase the guessing on boy/girl! So funny seeing them move... I got quite emotional seeing mine give a little wave today and I totally didn't think I would!

SpongeBobGrannyPants · 24/05/2018 21:47

Hi everyone!

Still in the sick as a dog camp over here (much worse in the evenings 🤢). I think I'm around 10 weeks now, so just the 4 weeks or so of nausea left I reckon...

Think I'm going to hold off for the 12 week scan even though I could ask for another around now. Scans are a funny one, half reassurance and half dread (it was at the 20wk one we found out DS2 had died) and I'm favouring the 'head in the sand' approach right now.

In other news, I'm feeling massive already. Can see me being in maternity jeans very soon. Probably mostly bloat/cake but still Confused Anyone in their mat clothes yet?

MagicalCreatures · 24/05/2018 21:57

@kaytees ooooh I love the nub theory. Always guessing other people’s. Can’t wait til it’s finally mine I can have a go at. X

BabynameEdie · 25/05/2018 00:12

@kaytees and @MagicalCreatures wow such great news and beautiful beans, congrats! So good to read such a positive happy thread.

Wiggle4 · 25/05/2018 07:11

Yay for @kaytees and @MagicalCreatures!
Good luck @Cakelaur today and all others with scans! 🤞

MagicalCreatures · 25/05/2018 07:33

Yes good luck @Cakelaur with your scan today x

Cakelaur · 25/05/2018 08:37

Ladies. How is everyone dealing with sickness? I haven't kept a meal down for 3 days now. Water I can keep down. I'm worried baby isn't getting what it needs. I'm 10+4. Any Tips?

OP posts:
kaytees · 25/05/2018 09:33

@Cakelaur you poor thing! I was the same with my first. Are you taking any vitamins? The pregnacare liquid ones are very gentle and I kept those down. My midwife told me not to worry even if I couldn't keep those down as the severe sickness is usually short lived and baby will just use your reserves to keep themselves going.

If you're really worried call gp / EPU and they may consider a drip - not ideal obviously but as you say, it's about getting the right things to baby.

Daffodil77 · 25/05/2018 09:52

@cakelaur we had a discussion about morning sickness at our team lunch yesterday as my team is a hotbed of fertility at the moment it would seem. I obviously didn't join in. A few people said they(or their OHs) could cope with fizzy water rather than still. If that helps!

@magicalcreatures so pleased all is well! We have a 9 week scan booked for next sat.

I managed to get an emergency on the day GP appointment today. Fortunately my boss is in the know so was fine with me working from home. Such a backwards process that you have to be referred by the GP on our area. What a waste of their time.

Sloeberrygin · 25/05/2018 11:19

Hooray for your scans @kaytees and @MagicalCreatures, really good to hear they both went well.
@Cakelaur sorry you're suffering so much with sickness. In my first pregnancy I was the same. The only thing that helped was to constantly (literally all day) snack. I took tubs of berries, nuts, cubes of cheese, apple slices etc everywhere I went and just nibbled all day. Still puked loads but I kept down much more than if I just ate 3 meals then puked them straight back up. It is grim though, I hope you start feeling better soon. Good luck with your scan today too.

I have another scan today to see what's happening with the bleeding. I'm dreading it.

Olivecake · 25/05/2018 11:31

@cakelaur I had horrific sickness in my first pregnancy and was diagnosed with HG and had to go to hospital for drips several times - I really wish I had gone to my GP earlier to get the anti sickness medication as it is more effective the sooner you take it, rather than waiting till you’re so dehydrated you need to be hospitalized like me. I would definitely recommend talking to the GP.

One thing that everyone at the hospital told me is that HG or severe sickness shouldn’t affect the baby, check out the HG thread on here for proof of all the lovely healthy babies born to mums who suffered horribly with sickness. My MMC was totally unrelated to my HG, the doctors told me, so try not to stress.

Good luck to everyone having scans today ❤️
