Hi, we've been TTC with our second and I've been having positive ovulation tests everyday for nearly 4 weeks. So far I've taken pregnancy tests everyday which have been negative (apart from 2 very very faint ones about 2 weeks in) when I had this before we were pregnant with my first (now 19 months) so I've been assuming I was pregnant. And started to feel sore breast, slightly naesous, cramps. However surely the pregnancy tests should would be positive now?! The positive ovulation tests started on the 14th March (today being the 16th April) I can't get a doctors appointment or even a doctors phone call, I tried asking my HV I tried asking 111. Google just says it's a pregnancy. Could it be anything else? I don't want to get my hopes up and everyday I'm getting more attached to something that might not be there. I've cut back on the gym, aclchol free etc. I just want to know if it could be something more serious like Ectopic pregnancy? Or cervical cancer or something wrong with me?! Has anyone else had any experience with how long it takes to get a positive pregnancy test?! It was 2 weeks for me last time 😔😔😔 please please help xx

When was your AF due? What pregnancy tests have you been using?

Waitingonasmiley42 · 06/04/2018 13:31

Are the ovulation tests proper positives with the test line darker than the control line, or just a faint second line?

Addy2 · 06/04/2018 13:33

You may be testing too early or you may have had a very early miscarriage, either could cause this to happen. How many weeks has it been since your missed period?

RachaelLaurenDaisyStone · 06/04/2018 13:46

Sorry should have mentioned I don't have periods x

OP posts:
RachaelLaurenDaisyStone · 06/04/2018 13:46

Yeah showing a proper positive x

RachaelLaurenDaisyStone · 06/04/2018 13:47

Sorry not sure what AF means x

RachaelLaurenDaisyStone · 06/04/2018 13:51

If I don't bleed how would I know if it was an early miscarriage? X

Waitingonasmiley42 · 06/04/2018 13:55

You don't ever have periods? The positive just shows the surge in hormones involved in releasing egg so maybe you are having a surge but yet to ovulate.

RachaelLaurenDaisyStone · 06/04/2018 14:03

For 4 weeks though? It's normally like maybe a few days and then the ovulation for 24-48 hours? It's been everyday for nearly a month? X
Yeah no periods ever x

You don't have periods ever?! Why not? How can you be fertile/ovulating if you've never had a period?

Celebelly · 06/04/2018 15:25

Yes, this doesn't sound right. If you ovulate, your body HAS to have a period. You can't ovulate and not have a period unless you have some medical condition that I've never heard of.

Celebelly · 06/04/2018 15:26

I'd be getting a doctor's appointment as a matter of urgency. What do you mean you can't get an appointment?

RachaelLaurenDaisyStone · 06/04/2018 16:53

I have polycistic ovaries so I just don't have them. I've had a few in my life but yeah none for me x

I’m no expert (although I do have PCOS) but I’d say your positive ovulation levels are likely to be a result of your PCOS, as it alters your hormone levels. If you don’t have periods you can’t be ovulating, or at least very very irregularly.
Did you have any help conceiving your first child?
If I were you I’d see a GP and request some tests to see if you’re ovulating at all.

RachaelLaurenDaisyStone · 06/04/2018 18:53

Normally my ovulation tests are accurate as in I can plot them on a fertility app and they last 2 days max. I just don't bleed. No we conceived naturally although it took around 2/3 years x

I’m not sure then, I’ve never heard of anyone ovulating but not bleeding.
I would still see a GP when you can if I were you.

Celebelly · 06/04/2018 19:09

Yes, if you ovulate, you will bleed. I'm afraid it sounds like you're not ovulating or doing so extremely sporadically (hence why it took you so long to fall pregnant.). You need to see your GP. OPKs do not indicate ovulation. Your body could be preparing to ovulate and then failing, which is why you are seeing LH surges. But if you don't have periods ever, then you are not ovulating.

Celebelly · 06/04/2018 19:19

I should add that a period comes after ovulation, not before - if you ovulate very sporadically, let's say one every 12 months, and you manage to catch that one ovulatory cycle, then theoretically you can fall pregnant without having a period. But if you didn't catch that egg, then you would have a period 10-14 days later. If you're not having periods, it means your body most likely isn't releasing eggs or is doing so so infrequently that it will take a long time and luck to catch it.

Bluebirdsky · 06/04/2018 21:11

I'm sorry but I don't think anyone here can answer your questions as your situation is quite unique. I really think you need to see a doctor, hopefully you can get an appointment next week.

RachaelLaurenDaisyStone · 06/04/2018 23:51

Thankyou x yeah unfortunately these answers haven't really helped as obviously conceiving with my first and having this condition I did discuss in detail how fertility works with my condition. I guess I didn't make that clear in the initial question. What upsets me the most is someone mentioned a possible miscarriage but I haven't had any follow up comments on that one. So now that's in my head 😔 I just resorted to here as a last resort as I can't get an appointment. I ring a couple times a day everyday and they just tell me to ring back the next day to try again. They suggested asking the pharmacist who just looked at me like I was mental for asking him. I guess I'll just have to go sit in A&e and admit myself that way. If the person on the desk doesn't turn me away. 😔😔 so heartbreaking. I just wish someone else had been through this that could tell me x

Do you know where I could book that? With my first she was confirmed by an early internal scan for this exact reason but that was with EPU and it was because I actually got a doctors appointment and they were concerned it might be eptopic which is what I'm worrying about now 😩

You could go for a private blood test to see if you have any HCG in your blood. I did that early on as I couldn't get a Drs appointment to confirm my pregnancy (turns out they don't confirm you're pregnant anyway).

I booked mine online. It was in Harley street London.

Best of luck
