Itchy & bitchy- 2nd Trimester woes

Paie · 22/03/2018 14:33

Tell me your 2nd trimester woes/ tales/ experiences!

I'm 21 weeks atm, with an anterior placenta so haven't felt that much movement.

For the past week or so I've had really itchy arms! Not always in the same spot- otherwise I'd think it was a rash or something but the itchiness seems to move around? Confused

I've started to notice myself being a bit very hormonal and over-emotional at silly little things! The bitchy attitude has made a return and boy it has plenty to say!

On top of that, I swear my bump grows overnight and most days it feels like I've swallowed a bowling ball and looks like it too.

My bladder has shrunk to half of its original capacity!

On the plus side I'm finally starting to notice a pattern and feel movements from the bump! Only the past few days but it's exciting and I want to feel more! Wriggle little one Grin

Have you spoken to your midwife about the itching? I swear mine mentioned something in my booking in appointment about itching and maybe needing an injection for something but I can't remember what it was?

Paie · 22/03/2018 16:25

@booandbumpp
I haven't yet, no, but I do have an appointment on Tuesday so I'll be sure to ask then! Will update and tag you then if there's any info Smile

25 weeks here. Not itchy but very unreasonable and mean. I actually hate other people right now ConfusedConfused

Paie · 22/03/2018 16:52

@Winterfellismyhome
With you there! Finding myself snapping a bit too much at other people mainly poor DP and then getting overly emotional and taking myself off for a quick quiet cry to get over it!
I don't remember being this up and down with emotions when I was pregnant with DD- I know I was short tempered but don't remember many tears!

@Paie all sounds very familiar!!!! Im 22 weeks i think either last week or week before no one could do anything right every people in the street/shops and my MIL couldnt say anything or do anything right or she pissed me off big time so i think thats 100% normal!!

CremeDeSudo · 22/03/2018 19:11

Yay a moany thread! 24+4 here. Spd and back pain has stepped up a notch and my chiropractor is both my best friend and taking all my money. Also been proper emotional- spent most of last Friday crying in an ott manner!

I'm massive, feel sooo heavy, stretched out and uncomfortable already. Also hate people more than usual and generally fed up! There could be more I'm forgetting to moan about right now.... Grin

LMX0 · 22/03/2018 19:16

Speaking of crying i was driving and was near in tears over nothing because i was soooooo tired has id had a rubbish nights sleep (it wasnt that bad but still!) has anyone else noticed or had people randomly rub your belly? Im a big girl but when u know im preg you would see bump but to the unknown i don't think you'd notice but still do one!!

CremeDeSudo · 22/03/2018 19:56

I've never had much belly rubbing. I must emit 'stay away from my belly' vibes Grin

I get sick of people asking how I'm feeling. Why must everyone ask you that when you're pregnant? I feel much better when I'm not!

LMX0 · 22/03/2018 20:55

@CremeDeSudo your lucky!! Ive had a few the past couple of weeks once the shock wears off it annoys me

Paie · 23/03/2018 11:26

Nobody has touched my belly yet- with the exception of DD and DP of course. I hope I can make the next few months without any belly touching- I hated it last time and I'm sure I'm even grumpier this time round!
Hows everyone doing today?

LMX0 · 23/03/2018 13:28

@Paie they are allowed its the shock that hit when people do it 😂

CremeDeSudo · 23/03/2018 15:39

I can't reach my feet any more sob

LoniceraJaponica · 23/03/2018 15:46

I think it might be worth contacting your midwife today as it could be a symptom of something more serious.

Paie · 23/03/2018 17:39

@LoniceraJaponica
The itching? I don't think it is- seen a few GPs with DD recently and spoken to them about it as DD had a small rash but it vanished within 24 hours. It's not a constant itch just mainly evenings somehow
Too late now anyway, GPs/midwives now shut until Monday

@LMX0
I remember that! Think I managed a few steely glares but it's always hours after the unwanted belly rub that you think of a great response Grin

How are we all? Today I am really bored of maternity wear and bored of real clothes. And I keep accidentally bumping people with my bump! And fluffing accidentally at my desk too Blush I can't hold them in!

LMX0 · 27/03/2018 18:35

Im okay tired today and feel sicky had dinner thinking i was sicky because i was hungry but nope still sicky the sore boobs are back with a vengeance anyone else having to wear a bra/sports bra to bed? Also getting to the stage everything in my wardrobe is either really summery which i really want to wear but its still too cold or it isn't fitting?! @CremeDeSudo im sure your glad you asked 😂

CremeDeSudo · 27/03/2018 19:01

Just realised I said I'm bored mat clothes and bored of real clothes! I meant I'm missing real clothes!

Yep been wearing a sleep bra for a while..my boobs have been really itchy today which I guess means they've grown again. Could do without them growing any more, I was a DD/E to start with!

Happy to have someone to share in the moaning with. I feel like I can't in real life!

LMX0 · 27/03/2018 22:05

@CremeDeSudo that makes much more sense!!! Oh the itch really is something else!!! And yes i know what u mean i spend most of my time yes yes im grand been very lucky (which i have) but still its nice to sometimes let off steam

Paie · 29/03/2018 15:45

Hope everyone is doing well! My midwife appointment went smoothly- she told me that the itchiness, however annoying, is actually a common pregnancy symptom. Glad it's nothing serious but also frustrated that there is nothing to be done about it! Only a few more months of putting up with it though Grin

On another topic, I'm down to one bra that actually fits and like LMX0 said, can't wait for summer so I can bring out all the lovely loose tents dresses!

Hi everyone, my first post!! Hope you are all doing well. Itching can be a sign of icp a liver condition in pregnancy. Mine started with itching on arms, please speak to your midwife they would do a blood test. Many doctors are not aware of the condition, hopefully it’s nothing but if it is icp it will need monitoring. x

LMX0 · 29/03/2018 20:06

@Paie tents 😂😂

LMX0 · 29/03/2018 20:09

Glad the midwife isnt worried about the itching OP 😊

CremeDeSudo · 30/03/2018 12:18

My sister in law had that liver thing/itchy all over too. Don't let her fob you off if it gets worse! I get itchy on occasion too though. I think I have a dry patch on my head and I'm paranoid I have nits constantly!

Had quite a good week this week though, my chiropractor seems to be working magic and I've been able to walk around and everything- very disconcerting as I've been really feeling the SPD and back pain since I was 20wks!

How's everyone doing this rainy April morning?

No longer itching badly, just the occasional scratchy moment!
Discussing my maternity leave with work today- Hoping my boss will let me cut down my weeks to 4 day weeks for the 2 months prior to starting maternity leave! Fingers crossed!

Whats everyone's due dates??

OP posts:
CremeDeSudo · 03/04/2018 10:10

Morning @Paie I am currently sat waiting to steroid injections at hospital due to being a high risk pregnancy this time round. DS (4.5) came down with a tummy bug last night as was being sick from around 7 til 11, then had a temp and ended up in bed with me-knackered this morning!

Otherwise in fairness I'm not feeling to bad! Glad your itchiness has subsided! I had another growth spurt over the weekend as the tummy itching was maddening! I've expanded outwards I think! Also, hairdresser confirmed i don't have nits lol Blush

Am due 8th July (26+2 now) but am high risk so unlikely to go that far and plan is for elective section at 39 wks if I do!
