I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.
MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk
If you need help in obtaining medication, phone them on:
024 7638 2020
Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy
I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.
Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Foodylicious Great to hear scan gave you a boost. Hotcholocate You too. I am sorry to hear about the steroids. Is there no HR department who might help you out about working conditions? Not sure how big your firm is. Have you been on Ondansetron, Cyclizine and the steroids up until now? Are the consultants unanimous about having to come off?
Bored How are things?

Oh that's rubbish.
I hate that you are so I'll Sad

Foodylicious · 21/05/2018 18:28

Have you started feeling movements yet?

Hotchocolate86 · 21/05/2018 18:50

foody I have been feeling definite movements for about a week now. Are you feeling any yet?
Lucinda I will speak with HR. I asked them at the weekend about altering my hours a little and they said I had to speak to my direct manager first. He’s on holiday though for at least a week. I’m hoping they will help in the meantime until he’s back. I have been on ondansetron, cyclizine and the steroid since my 12 week scan. I tried to come off the steroid a couple of weeks ago and started to get quite a lot worse so I went back on it until this appointment.

Foodylicious · 21/05/2018 19:01

Yes hotchoc for about two weeks.
Been getting more regular and stronger the last few days

nailsathome · 21/05/2018 19:20

I'm glad your scans went well foody and hotchoc but sorry you're still suffering. Half way through though (although another 20weeks of it seems like an eternity!).

Boredoftryingusernames · 21/05/2018 23:45

Foody pleased your scan was all good too!
Hotchocolate you must be so worried after only recently trying to come off them. Really hope those extra few weeks have made a difference now.
Lucinda I'm not too bad thanks!!! Feeling a bit less nauseous at times, and my bump has popped out now at 25 weeks Smile.

LucindaE · 22/05/2018 21:35

Bored You will soon have a waddle when you walk! [grin
Foolylicious Happy news.
Hotcholocate I do hope HR can help.
Nails and everyone - I hope OK-ish.

I just remembered that when I had my doctors appointment on Monday they said I may need extra growth scans if I’m still on sickness meds in the third trimester. Last time I was on ondansetron all the way through and didn’t have any growth scans. Has anyone else had them due to sickness meds? I didn’t think to ask whether it was likely to make the baby bigger or smaller than average at the time.

LucindaE · 23/05/2018 17:50

Hotcholocate Numbers of women on here have been monitored in that way. I think it is routine if the Hyperemesis has been very bad. I don't think any have had alarmingly low birth weights, though, which is reassuring.

Thanks lucinda it’s probably nothing to concern myself with too much then.

Worried67202 · 24/05/2018 07:33

Hi everyone,

I joined the chat when I was about 10 weeks, but never really posted much. My symptoms improved significantly at around 20 weeks. I’m 26+ now and I’ve started being sick again and feeling miserable. I’m pregnant with twins, so already mesasuring pretty much full term and getting down on the floor to be sick in the toilet is hard enough, never mind getting back up again! I have a 1 year old, so resting isn’t really an option either.
For anyone that’s had it return in later pregnancy, is it as bad as early pregnancy?

LucindaE · 24/05/2018 13:55

Worried Welcome back, lovely to hear about the twins. As I recall, you were suffering late last winter. I am sorry to say that it can return in the last tri, but I hope you are finding, along with almost all of the unlucky ones with whom it returns, that it is never as bad as in the first. I actually had it come back, not in the last tri,but for a while after birth, connected with horomones and breast feeding. But that was highly unusual; less than ten sufferers out of the hundreds of sufferers who have been on here have had that jolly experience.
When are the twins due to make their appearance? Nails is on here too, and she's having twins.

Worried I am sorry, my message came through truncated. I meant to add, that's awful about not being able to rest. Can anyone at all take over? I think It has to be a bowl for ease of puking, as I can see how difficult it would be getting up from the floor when carrying twins.

Have you got bad heartburn? An anti acid like Omprazole can make a huge difference. It might be worth asking if it's OK to take anti sickness meds, and there is always Pregnancy Sickness Support on 024 7638 2020 who will ring back with good advice.

Hi worried in my last pregnancy I was feeling queasy and on meds all the way through. I had a pretty good patch in the middle and then started to get worse again in the third trimester but it was nowhere near as bad as it was in the beginning.
I am feeling really poorly today. I have had several episodes of dry heaving and am completely exhausted already. I picked up my mat B1 form earlier so I can get my maternity leave organised. I’m not sure what to do about work this weekend. I have no company sick pay left and can’t take holiday in the next couple of weeks either. I think I’ll just have to see how I feel in the morning.

LucindaE · 25/05/2018 12:07

Hotchocolate Oh no. How are things today?

OP posts:
Hotchocolate86 · 25/05/2018 12:15

Hi lucinda I am still feeling rubbish and was sick this morning. The personnel manager has hopefully managed to get some holiday for me for this week so I have come home and I’ve got to go in next week to make a plan for that weekend as there’s definitely no holiday available for that week. Thank you for asking. It’s a relief to not have to try and push through this weekend at least and I’m still hopeful that I may start to feel better in the next week or so. I’m almost 21 weeks now so fingers crossed.

Littlemissamy · 25/05/2018 13:26

Hi everyone! I’m tentatively posting on here as I only got my BFP this morning. I’ve had 2 HG pregnancies - one ended in a missed miscarriage at 13 weeks, but my first was very full on until about 28 weeks. I’ve had mild nausea over the last couple of days but I’m trying to prepare myself for the inevitable hell thats about to happen! It’s nice to know I’m not alone.

Bringmecarbs · 25/05/2018 14:47

Hi everyone Smile
Long time lurker, first time poster here. I've been suffering from HG since 6 weeks - I'm now 14+3 weeks. 2 hospital visits and all of the drugs later, I'm finally on odansetron and prochlorperazine. This does seem to be working, and yesterday I felt fine - almost normal and only took 1 odansetron. Today I'm paying for it and haven't been able to get out of bed for heaving and nausea. I was hoping that yesterday was a sign that it was on its way out. Was it just the drugs working?

Truly fed up of this now, but this thread has been a real support - thanks everyone.

Worried67202 · 25/05/2018 16:03

Thank you for the replies, really appreciated. I’m really hoping it doesn’t come back as bad as before. I’m back on my Ondansetron and I’ve only had one vomiting session today, so hoping that’s a good sign

Foodylicious · 25/05/2018 19:30

Hahahaha, she laughs dryly...

LucindaE · 25/05/2018 19:37

Welcome to Littlemissmy. I do hope you escape suffering badly this time. Has the GP got pre-emptive meds prescribed? Sorry about your miscarriage. As you are a veteran, you don't need my usual spiel about 'have you got kesostix' and 'do you find flat full sugar coke, ice lollies and the juice of tinned fruit any good'. How is your support network so you can rest a lot if the worst comes to the worst?
BringonthecarbsWelcome too. Thank you so much for your post saying how helpful you have found this thread. A lot of sufferers try and come off meds too early. Hopefully, you will feel a lot better tomorrow.
Worried Almost nobody finds it as bad as the first stage, though of course, they are fed up with it by this stage. Are your twins identical? That's just me being curious.
Hotchocolate I am glad that Personnel has managed to do that. Did they have any other good ideas? I hope you have a turnaround soon.

Apologies to anyone rudely overlooked.

Foodylicious Those sort of assumptions can make one feel very isolated - not sure what week that was supposed to apply to, but anecdotally, I have found that a great many women with normal ms suffer up until 16 weeks.

Foodylicious · 25/05/2018 20:46

That's me today.

Worried67202 · 25/05/2018 20:51

Yes twins are identical, was a real shock! All seems to be going well so far though.

Really hope those ladies early in pregnancy don’t suffer too badly. Please get on meds early and stay on them as long as you need to.
