Having a complete freak out getting a BFP yesterday, as I only have a 5mo DS.

I'm going from extreme excitement and happiness to pure fear and horror in the matter of minutes, followed by guilt for my DS and for feeling so worried about being pregnant again! Argh! I just had an hour nap with DS as I'm fed up of my emotions switching and swapping!!

I need some reassurance! Did anyone else have kids close together and it turn out ok? How many children do you have and how big are the age gaps?

I had 3
First was 4 when I had second one
Second one was 5 when I had youngest
I had fertility problems eldest took 8 years middle one took 5 years youngest took 10 days lol she’s very she’ll we say headstrong
I also had miscarriages and late baby loss

My eldest daughter had
Aged 17 a boy
Aged 18 a girl 5 weeks prem
Aged 19 a boy 9 weeks perm

3 children in 26 months
Her eldest was 10 months when she had baby 2 and he was 26 months when she had baby 3
Second one was 14months when she had youngest
So at birth of her youngest she had
14 months old
4 months old
Newborn 9 weeks prem

She left the dad and I moved her 5 minutes walk to where I live to help her it is very very hard

I wouldn’t be able to do it fulltime and I was a trained children’s Nanny aged 17

I’d say best gaps are 4 years personally

I had a little boy who just turned two a few weeks ago. I am due another one in a couple of months. I had a mc in between. The best gap for me would be 4/5 years but I don't have the luxury of time so I gotta crack on really.

Sanson · 09/03/2018 14:09

have not had!!

jitterbug5 · 09/03/2018 14:36

tinytemper66 · 09/03/2018 14:41

DS is 7 months, I'm 6 weeks pregnant! Didn't expect to catch instantly as took a while first time, it's actually going to be a bit complicated in terms of my work, finances, double buggy and logistics etc but excited for DS to have a sibling.

toasterstrudle · 09/03/2018 14:49

Also I meant to say, congratulations!! Thanks

TwinkleStars15 · 09/03/2018 14:50

OP I just found out I’m pregnant and my little one is 8 months old. I also feel very very confused about it and still don’t know what to do/think/feel. It’s actaully exhausting feeling like this and I already feel guilty for not being happy. Good luck x

jitterbug5 · 09/03/2018 14:50

@toasterstrudle oh congratulations!! I'm glad I'm not the only one! I'm so torn between excitement and fear, I have no idea weather I'm coming or going! I only found out yesterday so I suppose I need to give myself time to get use to it!

@TwinkleStars15 congratulations! You summed up exactly how I feel in that. It's completely terrifying. I feel guilty for DS too! Like I'm 'replacing' him Blush And I'm already panicking I won't love number 2 as much as DS, because, how could I possibly?! Queue MORE guilt!! I hope you start to feel better soon. ThanksThanks

I've been unbelievably up and down too about everything under the sun! But, according to the "pregnancy +" app (see pic below) this is totally normal so I'm just going with it - poor DH is taking the brunt of my mad worries. This week's have included:

  • will DS be jealous
  • am I making DS grow up too soon
  • will we need a new house
  • can we afford childcare
  • what will I do about my work?!
  • how will I manage logistically with two babies

However. There's 17 months between me and DB and my mum really recommends it as the older baby actually never remembers anything different and it helps with the bond (she thinks). She said also easier as you can take the newborn along to all of the older baby's classes and they'll still get lots out of it. So fingers crossed!

Also I've been looking at #twoundertwo on Instagram and the pictures of two babies playing with each other or cosied up is really helping alleviate my worries. Even though I know Instagram paints a rosy view!

Pennywhistle · 09/03/2018 15:02

I have twins. So the gap is only minutes long. Wink

I do have a few friends with only a year between their D.C. and it’s all fine though.

Curlyshabtree · 09/03/2018 15:04

2 kids, 12 minutes Grin

JamdaniSari · 09/03/2018 15:08

Congratulations Smile

Scoleah · 09/03/2018 15:11

2 children
DD-8 , DS 22months

Aprilmightmemynewname · 09/03/2018 15:12

Many dc...
Gaps are: closest 14 months, then 15 months, a 20 month gap, a 29 month one. Bigger gaps are 2.9 and biggest is 6 years gap! Prefer the closer gaps, no jealousy involved at all!

2 children, 19 months age gap. Awesome, they are the best of mates and we can all do the same stuff without any moaning because they are into roughly the same things.

Congrats, it will be hard for a few years but then really good fun

Ubercornsdiscoball · 09/03/2018 15:20

It’s not a shock though is it? You are having sex. You know how these things work. What is the shocker?

jitterbug5 · 09/03/2018 15:39

@Ubercornsdiscoball because we were being safe. It wasn't intentional. I know nothing is 100%, but the odds were in our favour, as it is with everyone. These things happen 🤷🏻‍♀️
