Things that you DIDN'T/DON'T get in pregnancy despite everyone telling you you would

Inspired by the things no one tells you about pregnancy thread, how about the things everyone went on and on about that didn't actually happen. I think some people take delight in scaring pregnant women, especially first timers.

For me: no morning sickness, no cravings, feet didn't grow, no water retention and no afterbirth pains. Unfortunately (second pregnancy) the tailbone pain is already getting started like last time and I'm only 19 weeks. And the less said about breastfeeding the better...

Heartburn/indigestion, thank goodness! (Sorry everyone who is suffering or did suffer)

BexleyRae · 06/03/2018 21:06

No stretch marks despite a big bump. Much to MILs disappointment, she used to try and lift my top up to check for them

anotherchangetomyname · 06/03/2018 21:14

My feet didn't grow.

I only got fluid retention after the birth! So could wear my wedding ring up to the labour, but not after!

No after pains.

Lemontwist · 06/03/2018 21:19

I've got no stretch marks despite being on my third pregnancy.
I've never really had any cravings. I had a little sickness this time but none with my first two.
I've never had the urge to nest either despite thinking it would be really useful Grin

Stillwishihadabs · 06/03/2018 21:20

Yes no stretch marks

MadisonAvenue · 06/03/2018 21:21

I didn't have cravings in either pregnancy. Never had Braxton Hicks.
Slept comfortably throughout. Didn't nest.

Justmuddlingalong · 06/03/2018 21:21

The glow. Sad

halfwitpicker · 06/03/2018 21:22

No stretch marks.
No incontinence.
Boobs look about the same really.
No haemmaroids (sp)

guiltynetter · 06/03/2018 21:23

no cravings
no braxton hicks

Girlwiththearabstrap · 06/03/2018 21:27

"Oh you'll be so massive you'll waddle/won't be able to tie your shoes/walk up a flight of stairs without an oxygen tank, two rest breaks and a sherpa to carry your handbag".
31 weeks into second pregnancy and happily gym going and tying my own shoelaces (except this week because I hurt my back..)

I've been lucky enough to be symptom free really apart from not sleeping. I feel bad for folk that feel rough the whole way through.

pastabest · 06/03/2018 21:27

I didn't get stretchmarks, swollen ankles/feet, piles, baby brain, cravings or any weight gain. I was back in my pre pregnancy jeans the evening of the morning I gave birth, and they were actually a bit loose.

I don't tend to tell people in real life though in case they hate me for it Blush

Kintan · 06/03/2018 21:29

Morning sickness, cravings, pelvic pain - thank goodness. Also never went through the 'nesting phase'.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 06/03/2018 21:30

Didn't get sick, didn't get cravings.

Did get a weird lump on my little finger that looked like a tiny brain, bled profusely at the slightest knock, and had to be surgically removed after I'd had DD. Which was weird.

GruffaloPants · 06/03/2018 21:32

Becoming over emotional/quick to anger.
Heartburn.

RaindropsAndSparkles · 06/03/2018 21:33

No stretch marks
No sickness or nausea
Cd touch my toes at nearly 42 weeks.
No cravings
No swollen feet or legsbut my shoe size did increase by half a size
No dark line on my tummy

After my son was born I lost all the hair on my arms, most of my leg hair and have never plucked my eyebrows since. Fair and not v hairy to start though.

FranticallyPeaceful · 06/03/2018 21:36

Thread of absolute lucky bastard fuckers

Sigh

halfwitpicker · 06/03/2018 21:37

Bizarrely, my hair has turned a different colour post DC - it's now dark blonde. People ask me if I've dyed it.

WhatAPowerfulPerm · 06/03/2018 21:38

No cravings or stretch marks (and DS was 9lb 2oz - I did get teeny one on my stomach from DD, who was a smaller baby).

I did however get all the freckles on my face going really dark. I now know that’s a pregnancy thing but I didn’t at the time. And for some reason I never needed to shave my legs! The hair on them just didn’t seem to grow.

Clevs · 06/03/2018 21:38

38+2 here and so far I’ve had:

No sickness.
No stretch marks.
No baby brain.
No heartburn.
No tiredness.
No cravings.
No pelvic pain.
No weight gain (apart from bump).
No emotional changes.

I have had swollen ankles in recent weeks and trouble sleeping from the start though.

halfwitpicker · 06/03/2018 21:38

DD is 14 months and I still have the dark line!

WasThatPlaceTHESUN · 06/03/2018 21:39

No morning sickness, no stretch marks, no cravings/aversions and no Braxton Hicks.

Also everyone said DD would be late, since first babies often are, but she came early. They also said labour would likely be very long, ended up being incredibly quick!

WasThatPlaceTHESUN · 06/03/2018 21:40

Oh and no heartburn at all, strange since DD came out with a full head of thick dark hair Grin

Chienrouge · 06/03/2018 21:40

Cravings
Nesting
Baby brain
Heartburn
Being emotional

vampirina · 06/03/2018 21:41

Never had any cravings!

twobambinos · 06/03/2018 21:44

No water retention until after same as pp.
No swollen feet.
But also no pregnancy glow. All day sickness all pregnancy long.
