Hello

I have been really worried :( I am six weeks pregnant and have had brownish coloured discharge for two days. I’m just so scared I am going to lose the baby. It’s not a lot but have noticed it when I’ve wiped.
Help?!

Call your midwife (or GP if you’re not booked in yet)
They should be able to refer you to EPAU to be seen.
In the meantime, rest and put your feet up.

LauraO1905 · 26/02/2018 21:57

Brown discharge can be fairly common. Call your local EPAU for advice and to put your mind at rest.

Thank you! I’m trying to relax and I’ve got a doctors appointment for wed but going to ring in the morning and try to get it sooner. I just hope it’s normal! :/ I haven’t had my first midwife appointment yet

My midwife told me to call her or if you're really concerned to go to a&e after a certain number of weeks you can bipass a&e for help but if it's early on and you haven't seen her that's what mine suggested. Have a Google of brown spotting I'm sure I've seen some threads about it perhaps they've already been to their midwife and can help

bigfatbuddha · 27/02/2018 08:01

Brown is old blood and is ok. It's red and / or clots that can be a real problem.

Winchester13 · 27/02/2018 09:46

Thank you everyone x I feel a bit better today hearing brown is ok :)
And I haven’t had anymore spotting so hopefully that is a good sign

Any bleeding go get checked at epau xx

RedWineAllMine · 27/02/2018 10:01

Not all brown is good. I was 8 weeks and had brown blood, not a lot, just filled a pantyliner. I rang my midwife, she referred me to EPU for a scan. I was told I had a Missed miscarriage and no heart beat.
I'm not saying that will happen to you as bleeding in pregnancy can be ok and nothing wrong. But any bleeding wether it be brown or red is a concern and needs looking into.

Tattybogle89 · 27/02/2018 10:08

In contrast to the post above I had a lot of brown discharge.. then red.. then brown and red again on and off for weeks and it all turned out ok in the end. It was a bruise in my womb causing pocket of blood that I was told is very common .
X

Too many people say bleeding is ok in pregnancy....bleeding is NOT ok! Always get it checked,it could be nothing but it could be something please get checked xx

user1499031722 · 27/02/2018 16:38

Do get it checked but I had this and my daughter is now 16 months 🙏🏻

Tattybogle89 · 27/02/2018 16:49

I was in no way suggesting to leave it and not be checked, always of course see your gp

Winchester13 · 27/02/2018 17:33

I also rang the epac and the nurse said it sounded quite normal, I’m still worried though!

I wish people wouldn't say brown blood is normal.... it's not! It was a miscarriage for me. Please try and get checked OP. Hope everything is fine x

Brownbear84 · 02/03/2018 11:02

@winchester13 please go to epau today!! Brown blood is not normal xx

RedWineAllMine · 02/03/2018 12:50

I agree to hotpink brown for me was miscarriage also. People really need to stop thinking bleeding is ok.

RedWineAllMine · 02/03/2018 12:52

I also don't agree to GP saying it's normal and if it gets any heavier to go back etc. All it took for me was a brown gush (almost filled a pantyliner) then I had no bleeding whatsoever ever until the MC followed through around 3 weeks later.

RedWineAllMine · 02/03/2018 12:53

Sorry about the extra 'ever' typo in there! 😩

EmsyW · 02/03/2018 17:46

Hi ladies. I am approximately 12 weeks and last night after I went I to the bathroom I had a pink watery discharge. Then this afternoon some more but slightly more redder. I have a dull ache in my back but I did squats last night with a kettle bell so not sure if that’s what caused it. Yeah called the midwife and she said that around this time the placenta takes over from the egg to feed the baby and some bleeding is normal but to keep an eye on it. I have a headache (maybe caused by crying) and I feel I have twinges in my tummy but this may be me imagining it. I am so scared this may be the start of a miscarriage. I had a scan just over a week ago and all was fine so I’m unsure what’s happening.

Brownbear84 · 02/03/2018 18:52

@emsyW go get yourself checked love it could be nothing it could be something. Never wait around xxx
