I apologise now to all you new Magnum addicts that I started this whole thread. I also apologise to all the non-pregnant people who fancy a magnum but cannot have them as all us pregnant peeps have eaten the entire worlds stock! I think I might buy some shares- I'd make a mint!

I'm starting to get guilt trips now if i eat rubbish so now that I can handle "good" foods again, i think i'm going to start cutting out the crap. Well, from next week anyway!

Nath · 04/05/2007 18:41

If you lot think Magnums are good, get your teeth into a Mars ice cream......I have to have one a day or I get very very upset!

Also have become a HUGE Mr Kipling fan......!!

RGPargy · 05/05/2007 19:16

Oooo i LOVE Mars Ice Creams!!!!

CorrieDale · 05/05/2007 19:22

Make the most of it guys! I'm 32+4 and find that if I eat more than about half a normal portion, it sits on my tummy (well, the baby) for about 5 hours. Ice cream still slips down nicely but otherwise it's getting harder and harder to eat. And yet I still gain weight. [voice of doom & gloom emoticon]

I had HG to start with but these last few weeks (I'm 20 wks now) my appetite has returned with avengence too! I know what you meant about suddenly being absolutely starving - I asked DH to make me some toast yesterday and he said "in a minute darling" which was fine. However, within that one minute, I was in the kitchen making 4 slices of toast smothered with butter and nutella, yummy!!! He was astounded and said he would make it but I just couldn't wait!

My other like is cider lollies - pack of 10 for £1 in Iceland and they are gorgeous!

After having had a bowl of cereal and 3 slices of toast (with above mentioned nutella on) this morning, I really fancied a hot dog with lots of onion on it. I wouldn't call it a craving as such but I really wanted it and DH and DS couldn't get over it!

Also, I ate two plates of chips this evening when I popped round to SIL's as they had loads extra going and I've still come home and had some more cereal and I'm hungry again...

Naboo · 05/05/2007 21:17

I would have happily eaten my own husband or any other available family member, in my first pregnancy. I was constantly starving. I was like my old dog; any russle of a food bag, and my neck used to pivot 360 degrees...

PurpleLostPrincess · 06/05/2007 01:01

Oh, I forgot that I took a tin of beans out of the cupboard earlier and just sat and ate the whole tin with a spoon (out of the tin!). Got some very strange looks from DC's lol!

RGPargy · 06/05/2007 19:59

LMAO @ PurpleLostPrincess!!!

You could be my eating double!

dgunn · 08/05/2007 04:28

This page made my day. I joined mumsnet just to thank you all for making me feel so much better about my piggy eating. I'm 10+4 and have been eating every hour or two for a few weeks now. The minute I finish one meal I'm ready for the next. I'm having the constant queasiness thing, and the only time I don't feel sick is when I've got food stuffed in my face. Luckily sugar makes me want to gag, so I can usually keep away from the ice cream, but I'm still scared to even weigh myself at this point. Anyway, thanks to you all! All the pregnancy books tell me is that I shouldn't be gaining weight right now, but my body is saying FEED FEED FEED. It helps to know I'm not the only one.

SofiaAmes · 08/05/2007 08:03

I was skinny all my life until I got pregnant. I was absolutely ravenous. I gained 45 pounds with each of my pregnancies. In fact, I had terrible sickness and threw up 5 times a day for 4 or 5 months in both pregnancies and still managed to gain at least half the weight in the first trimester both times!!! It got so my dh wouldn't take me out to dinner, he said he couldn't afford it as I was eating a full meal, puking it up and then ordering another one and dessert.... Dh went around complaining that he had married this skinny organized woman and ended up with a fat space cadet on his hands (I got pregnant on our honeymoon).
Luckily I lost the weight completely without dieting within 8 months both times. And dh who gained 40 pounds of sympathy weight has never been able to lose it.

LucyK1978 · 08/05/2007 12:27

@ SofiAmes - I'm torn between thinking 'poor girl her morning sickness sounds awful' and jealousy for you having 'always been thin' and loosing weight without dieting....!!

maisym · 08/05/2007 12:35

gain loads of weight whilst preg - just over 30 kilos last time!! - but my digestion probs are better in preg (hurrah) so I really can eat & feel fine - plus I go with how I feel. I've never dieted and bf used up my preg weight.

Have had mozzerella with tomotoes & stuffed vine leaves with ham & bread for lunch - (am usually veggie as well!!!)

beansontoast · 08/05/2007 14:34

magnums were 79 pence for three last week in morrisons...so i made an investment..

i dont dare see if they are still 'on special'...i was on two a day!

RGPargy · 08/05/2007 15:15

dgunn - Welcome!!

I think we all think we are the only ones who are stuffing our faces and it's such a huge relief to know you're not alone!

I've only put on 2lbs since i got pg (i'm 11 weeks), which apparently is the weight of my boobs so i'm happy that i've not put on any official weight yet!

I've just eaten a bloody great McDonalds (God forbid, what am i doing?!!!!). I had a large fillet meal with a strawberry shake AND a cheeseburger! I feel positively sick now and cant stand the thought of more food!

However, this trashy eating is stopping tomorrow!! It was meant to be today but there are birthday cakes in the office and it would be so rude to turn those down......

beckmo · 08/05/2007 16:18

79p for 3???I was ripped off at the Co-op...

I have been trying to change my ways after last weeks out of control magnum-fest.

Well. I kind of ate so many of them i can't face another one so it wasn't really down to willpower or anything.

My rabid eating has been replaced by cleaning madness and an obsession with reusable nappies that has come from nowhere. By the time this baby comes all its baby grows will have already been worn away in the wash.Either that or i would have eaten them.Could go either way.

RGPargy · 11/05/2007 15:03

I thought i was going to be good today. I had a jacket spud with cheese and a few beans, then i went to this Healthy Living demonstration that our work are putting on and came back with a banana and an apple. But then - DISASTER!! I got back to my desk and smelt cheese & onion crisps. That was it. I just HAD to have some. So i went on a vending maching raid and got one bottle of OJ, some C&O crisps and a small bag of revels. So much for healthy eating!
