RGPargy...dark chocolate BUT not the bitter really dark stuff. And I just ate a classic magnum and yesterday I had an almond one.Its become a daily trip to the corner shop and my neat bump is beginning to pale into insignificance due to my big fat arse.

RGPargy · 01/05/2007 14:12

LMAO Beckmo!!!

I just HAD to go get a white magnum after lunch today. I'm still unsure of whether to try the mint one. I might have to have a white choc one on standby, just in case.

Princesspowersparkle · 01/05/2007 14:28

Mmmm- now I want Ice Cream! Have a bit of a thing for those massive ice pops you can get for about 20p at corner shops. Love them but reckon I'm gonna have a hyperactive baby due to all the colours and flavouring that are no doubt in them!!

Really. The mint ones are the business. I suggest you steer clear of them. You do not want to end up hooked like me.

RGPargy · 01/05/2007 16:50

Does having two white magnums count? Or am i just being a greedy bar steward?

beckmo · 01/05/2007 16:55

Oh God your worse than me!We have a serious user here!!!!

Then again. Its only 5pm. I still have time to sneak another one in yet.

I think I had my first craving today (well..one that didn't involve chocolate/ red wine/ blue cheese etc) and scoffed down an avocado and banana wholemeal sandwich. Obviously body's way of telling me to lay off the ice cream!

Annie75 · 01/05/2007 17:20

Yep, totally know what you mean about going from being not hungry to STARVING in minutes. Weird, isn't it?

Last week or so (am 25 weeks) have become enormously hungry for: pancakes, toast and butter, crumpets, treacly puddings with custard... in fact, anything stodgy. I spent £10 on a teeny box of chocolates because I really fancied a high quality sugar rush when shopping. Oh, the guilt (they were delicious ...)

But, gals, the good news is that we're meant to put on nearly two stone without even accounting for overeating. Babycentre has a good description of where the weight comes from...

RGPargy · 01/05/2007 19:59

Beckmo - avacado and banana??? that actually sounds really nice!!

Annie - NEVER feel guilty for eating a £10 box of chocolates. At that price, they deserve to be scoffed and enjoyed with gusto!!

aikigypsy · 02/05/2007 01:42

I cannot stop eating, and it's been like that from the start, or about a week after I found out I was pregnant. I have a healthy appetite to start with, and was exercising pretty regularly, but this has been ridiculous. Every couple of hours, it's EAT NOW or DIE! I kept reading about how you don't need any extra calories in the first trimester, but don't tell my stomach that!

I suppose the good thing is that I'm mostly craving fruits and vegetables. I thought I was going to die of vegetable deprivation when I visited my boyfriend in Ireland (he just doesn't get it). I keep wanting to buy chocolate, but then I don't eat it, which seems very strange to me. I'm at about 12+3 and I've gained 6 pounds (sorry, I'm in the US, I think that's about 3kg) already. The only way to keep my appetite under control is to lie around and do nothing all day!

beckmo · 02/05/2007 10:25

RGParagy -I think only a pregnant women could think a mushed up avocado mixed up with banana sounds nice.

But it is. I suggest you try it.

RGPargy · 02/05/2007 12:11

I might just do that, thanx!

LucyK1978 · 02/05/2007 12:32

I am 11+5 and fortunately not put on any extra weight YET - possibly because I'm already a bit heavier than I should be, and partly becuase even the thought of eating has sent me running to the bathroom. That was until the weekend when my appetite seems to have returned, with need for bagels with mayonaise and cheese. Yum!

So I'm sure I will soon be the size of a whale, I doubt I'll be one of those people with an dainty little bump!

Oooh and to add to the Magnum recommendations - try the yoghurt fresh flavour, bit like raspberry ripple ice cream and I think are made with yoghurt based ice cream so SLIGHTLY less calroies (at least that's my excuse for eating them!)

RGPargy · 02/05/2007 14:01

A raspberry ripple-like magnum????? Wow that sounds really nice and refreshing!!!

Might have to try that too!!

So, my handful of magnums will look like this:

A white choc magnum
A mint magnum
A yoghurt fresh raspberry thing magnum

I can feel a mag-fest coming on......

LucyK1978 · 02/05/2007 15:06

and with the bank holiday weekend ahead - perfect oportunity for one-a-day magnum testing!!!!

RGPargy · 02/05/2007 15:30

One a day???????? Are you SERIOUS?!! More like one of EACH every day!!!

LucyK1978 · 02/05/2007 17:03

now that's what I call dedication to testing.....!!!

twinkle5 · 02/05/2007 17:14

I had to stop on the way to work this morning to buy pastries. I had had a 3 course breakfast before leaving the house.
34+5

apeainapod · 02/05/2007 22:16

PLEASE stop talking of Magnum's - I ahve to wait until I get back in 7 weeks before I can indulge!!

PiusIX · 02/05/2007 22:17

My wife is expecting twins. Sometimes I worry she is going to eat ME.

RGPargy · 03/05/2007 10:17

What's even better is that i've actually LOST 2lbs since i booked in with my midwife lol. As i'm fat anyway, she told me that to carry on losing weight was absolutely fine so I'm not worried! Ironically i was doing really well with weight loss before i got pg (i'd hit my first target). I did initially put on 4lbs but now i've lost 2 of those so all in all i've only put on 2lbs despite eating like a horse! Yay!!

RACE YOU TO THE MAGNUMS!!!!!

beckmo · 03/05/2007 14:57

Just popped out to my local co-op and they are selling 2 packets of three for £3.

This is not good.

Now have 6 classic magnums in my house and a free afternoon.

Seriously -before I rediscovered these I had spent the past 34 weeks eating sooo healthily. Think they might have something addictive in them.

RGPargy · 03/05/2007 17:23

6 magnums, eh? What's your address? I'll be there in 10 minutes

weddingcake · 03/05/2007 17:30

This thread should come with a warning - I discovered it about 4pm, went out to buy a white magnum, ate it on the way home....and went back for another one!

Can't think when I last had magnums but suspect it's going to be a daily fix from now on!

beckmo · 03/05/2007 17:31

RGpargy -wherever you live I doubt you'll get here in time.

RGPargy · 03/05/2007 20:15

LMAO @ Beckmo
