Hi all,

Had our first scan yesterday and saw the baby for the first time! I haven’t really felt that maternal to be honest (just sick and miserable and bloated) and it suddenly felt real seeing the little bubba on the screen! I’m now not feeling particularly maternal again, but I can’t wait to see him next week! I had too much gas for a proper measurement so have to go back in a week having necked a supermarkets worth of prune juice.

Anyone else in a similar boat or due date etc? Be nice to chat to some women going through the same stuff at the same time.

I had my 12 week scan yesterday too! Due date July 27th!

GemmaLL · 16/01/2018 20:12

I have my scan tomorrow afternoon, so nervous & excited Smile

PinkSazzle · 16/01/2018 20:21

I am 11 weeks today! Also full of gas!! Xx

BrutusMcDogface · 16/01/2018 20:42

I'm due 20th July! 😁

Smilingthru · 16/01/2018 20:59

By my dates due 27 July. Got scan next week to confirm. I'm known for not being great with dates. Didn't know I was pregnant with DD1 until I was 15+3 so no one is trusting my dates until the scan!!!! Excited but also nervous!!! X

hannknitted · 16/01/2018 21:12

12+3 here 🙋‍♀️ got my scan tomorrow morning. EDD currently 28th July, but TBC at the scan 😊

FE1984 · 16/01/2018 21:16

Ah yay! Congratulations all! I was so nervous before my scan too @GemmaLL I even got nervous wees which didn’t help with the whole holding it malarkey!

This is our first so we have absolutely no idea what we’re doing or what we should be doing!

We’ve chosen to only tell our parents at the moment and will keep the secret a little longer.

He gave us a little fist pump on the scan which was amazing! Saw fingers and toes, heartbeat abs the brain. Pretty amazing considering it’s only been 12 weeks!

I’ve now had my booking appointment, flu jab (wasn’t massively on board with them but figured why not) and now we’re just winging it!

FE- you keep referring to "he" - do you know you're having a boy?

Good luck for upcoming scans! I had mine last week Smile

Windowgazer123 · 17/01/2018 00:08

Hi!
Had my scan yesterday, due July 24th.
Also my first so not much clue what I'm doing. Scan was incredible.. the sonographer said it had been a very long time since she had seen such an active baby. The baby was flipping upside down and then back again all the time!
I also had a harmony test done so got those results today- which were all good. And also meant I found out the sex!
Knowing the sex made it feel even more real.

@hannknitted - let us know how it goes tomorrow!

Anyone out of their normal trousers yet or gained any weight? I haven't changed but am waiting for it..

Windowgazer123 · 17/01/2018 00:09

Oh and good luck @GemmaLL too! Let us know how you get on..

Smilingthru · 17/01/2018 06:47

I'm starting to show Window but it's my second and they say you show earlier with second pregnancies. I got a bump at 10weeks so have been hiding it with cardigans and dresses!!! Leggings have been my best friend! Holding out getting my maternity clothes out the loft but got a feeling hubby will be going up there soon!!

We've only told my parents and sister and waiting for the scan next week before we tell others although I'm going to have to tell work this week. Not looking forward to that bit!!!! X

FE1984 · 17/01/2018 07:26

I’m more permanently bloated than showing I would say. But I definitely feel firmer, if that makes sense? @smilingthru what maternity clothes would you recommend when the time comes? I’m already using the hair and trick on jeans!

Good luck today @hannknitted!

No we don’t know it’s a boy, we call it boy, girl, the secret and baba! What is the harmony test @windowgazer123? So exciting for you to know already! Ours was all over the place too. It’s amazing to see!

I had my 2nd scan yesterday at 14 weeks (couldn't get the neck measurement at first scan) and have confirmed due date of 17th July.
I'm showing loads already, but I bought a belly belt from amazon, it's amazing as it means I can wear my old jeans just with an waist extension Grin

Smilingthru · 17/01/2018 09:25

H&M and Next are the best places I found. H&M because it's in store and you can try on (not many maternity clothes actually in store!) and Next because returns is sooo easy! Plus they have nice going out clothes and work clothes. Unfortunately DD1 was a winter baby so most of my clothes are trousers and long sleeves tops so will be shopping again soon! However hoping jeans are going to be ok as they were soooo comfy! I was sad to put them away once DD was born! Lol! X

13wks today here! And first nhs scan tomorrow!
Currently dated 25th July (which I thought was cute, "Christmas in July!" - i've a few friends whose bdays are 25th of a month and that's how they refer their bdays as), but may all change tomorrow.

For those who've had their scans with the hospital, how do I prepare? Do you get the ask the sonographer questions there and then or wait till the midwife appt (in a few weeks) to review your case/results?

0310Star · 17/01/2018 11:48

@Daphne33 I literally just turned up with my notes, you can ask a bit but I've had 2 scans and the first one the lady wasn't very talkative, the second she was a bit more informative! It's not like speaking to your midwife though, I didn't find I could ask a lot of questions!

GemmaLL · 17/01/2018 17:28

Had my scan today, baby was moving a lot! I mainly felt overwhelming relief that there was a baby there (not sure why I thought there wouldn't be as I had 3 positive tests at the end of Nov and I've had various symptoms ever since!). The scan was very clear.
Just a waiting game now for the results of the downs etc screening.

Hope all your scans go well x

FE1984 · 17/01/2018 18:25

I Joe exactly what you mean @GemmaLL! T feels real all of a sudden. I spent a fortune on test because we’d been rampaging for a month or two so thought we’d take a deserved break before Christmas and then that when it happened! It means I’ll miss two close friend’s weddings though which is sad. Need to find a way to tell them before we go public. Although not ready to tell everyone yet! We like having a secret. So rare to have one in life! Although expect everyone will know when we tell them Grin.

I'm about 12 + 4 and my scan is tomorrow too. It's our 3rd but youngest is 6 so feel a bit out of practice!
DH isn't coming so it will be me on my own which will be weird. Fingers crossed everything is ok and I can't wait for things to feel a bit more real.

Dorabean · 17/01/2018 19:34

How come you'll miss 2 weddings @FE1984 ? Congratulations to everyone! How's everyone been feeling in terms of symptoms?

FE1984 · 17/01/2018 20:41

We live off the mainland so I won’t be allowed to fly or take the ferry @Dorabean as they are right before my due date of the 31st july.

I’ve had loads of symptoms! Mainly horrendous sickness and bloating and constipation, but also a huge personality change - I’m very patient normally but anything lights my fuse now! I’m having a glass of prune juice a day and it’s rank.

What about you?

FE1984 · 17/01/2018 20:42

Good luck tomorrow @lemontwist

Ah I see! That's a shame!

I've just had nausea mainly, it's stopped now and was very sporadic from week 9 onwards! I'm exhausted though and have had a few cramps here and there. Think I've been pretty lucky!

Lemontwist · 18/01/2018 07:58

Thanks FE1984
It's exciting but I'll be nervous until I know everything's ok. The scan is at the hospital where I work so I'm going to be sneaking about hoping no-one spots me! My boss knows but no-one else at work yet.
Good luck to anyone else having their scan today Smile
