Hi all,

Had our first scan yesterday and saw the baby for the first time! I haven’t really felt that maternal to be honest (just sick and miserable and bloated) and it suddenly felt real seeing the little bubba on the screen! I’m now not feeling particularly maternal again, but I can’t wait to see him next week! I had too much gas for a proper measurement so have to go back in a week having necked a supermarkets worth of prune juice.

Anyone else in a similar boat or due date etc? Be nice to chat to some women going through the same stuff at the same time.

Hi ladies

Congrats to you all. Good to hear those scans are going do well. It's lovely to see the baby isn't it? Ours was sucking it's little thumb at ours yesterday. Amazing.

My edd is also 27th July like a few of you.

We've had a few scans before yesterday as it was ivf and I had some bleeding so wanted reassurance.

Have you started telling people now? We spent time telling people yesterday which was lovely. I've wanted to shout it from the rooftops since I found out!!

Feeling chunky at the moment not bumpy. Apparently that can happen first.

Xx

We told parents as soon as we found out. We needed the support as we had our son at 24 weeks last year and he only lived for a few hours. We've now told a couple of very close friends but no one else yet!

Lemontwist · 18/01/2018 15:12

Scan all done. Everything's fine plus there is only one in there! (DH was slightly disappointed as there are loads of twins in his family but big relief for me Grin).
I thought I was 12+5 but I'm actually 13+5 according to measurements so that's a surprise!
I finally feel I can relax and get a bit excited. Might even tell my boys later.

@Dorabean sorry for your loss, it must be really hard. Hope everything is going well for you this time round Flowers

Dorabean · 18/01/2018 16:37

Congrats @Lemontwist!

Thank you, it is really hard but this next baby is very special. I have to be under a consultant and obviously previous experiences have tainted the excitement a bit as I'm more anxious than anything else! Fingers crossed this time!

FE1984 · 18/01/2018 19:40

@lgh05 how do you find this group on facebook? Sounds great!

@Dorabean I’m so sorry to hear this but glad that your pregnancy is going well. Big hugs.

@Ging78 we’re still not telling people yet. Our best friend (each) knows, our parents but that’s it. Sometimes I like to keep the secret; sometimes I just don’t feel pregnant, and a lot of the time I’m nervous because my sister has an extremely mentally and disabled child, so there are a whole load of of worries just under the surface (it isnt blood or family related so there doesn’t need to be the worry, but it’s still hard to shake).

HI Ladies. Congratulations.

This is my first and i’m due the 28th July! Although I haven’t received my scan date yet! Slightly worrying. Can’t wait to see our beautiful little clomid baby!!

Excited to experience all the ups and downs of pregnancy and so far I’m loving it. Especially having this secret! How do you feel about experiencing being heavily pregnant during summer?

Dorabean · 19/01/2018 06:08

@Tweetypie95 can you ring your hospital? When I was pregnant last time I didn't receive my letter and had to ring to find out when my scan was! I would have missed it because I still never received the letter!

For me, personally, I'm not bothered about the summer. I didn't get to experience any further than 24 weeks last time and I will just be so happy to get past that and then every other week that goes by! Though ask me that again when it is summer and I'm huge...Grin

Windowgazer123 · 19/01/2018 06:18

@Tweetypie95
Yes, definitely call the hospital. You should be scheduled in by now surely? You must be 12wks?

I always used to look at heavily pregnant women struggling in the summer and think 'oh jeez, who would ever be so silly tonolan to give birth now?!?' And gulp.. now it's me.
It's my first and I am nervous about how big I will get and surely it's easier in winter when you can hide in loose cardigans etc!

I also have very little experience of hospitals but when I have been there in the summer they always seem so bloody hot!

How are you feeling about it?

Smilingthru · 19/01/2018 07:48

Argh!!! Just about to tell work and absolutely dreading it!!! X

hannknitted · 19/01/2018 09:08

Thanks for the good luck wishes @Windowgazer123 & @FE1984 - all went well with my scan on Wednesday, baby wriggling around loads, and EDD now 27th July. So reassuring to see the heartbeat and see baby moving around! :)

We have now told all close friends & family and have told people at my work which has been nice - I'm terrible at keeping secrets and I've been struggling a lot with sickness and tiredness so it's been really hard keeping it quiet!

I'm happy that I'll be having a summer baby - I'm in the North East of Scotland so it's never exactly "warm" here and the thought of having a baby in winter when it's freezing, icy, and dark all the time isn't great so I'd definitely much prefer summer!

Definitely recommend the Facebook group - lovely bunch of ladies with chat every day. I believe if you send @Unicornberry a message on MN she can get you set up in the group :)

Windowgazer123 · 19/01/2018 09:29

@hannknitted
Congratulations! Glad the scan went well!

Dorabean · 19/01/2018 09:37

How did it go @Smilingthru? I told my work on Wednesday and was terrified based on the fact I've only just returned after being off with losing my son. They were great and massively supportive so hopefully yours are the same! Smile

Smilingthru · 19/01/2018 11:03

It was fine! With DD1 they weren't hugely supportive but much better this time and all really happy for me. Keeping it to just management until my scan on Tuesday! X

RockingLobstering · 19/01/2018 11:50

12 + 6 here!
Had my 12 week scan today Grin
I am convinced its a boy! Only because morning sickness was so different with my DD..
Due July 28th!

FE1984 · 19/01/2018 12:40

Hi @RockingLobstering, Great news about your scan!

@Smilingthru @Dorabean that’s fab! I won’t be saying anything until mid Feb I don’t think at work. I only started my new job at the beginning of the year. I found it I was pregnant after o was offered the job and handed my notice on so it’s been quite a stress! I live offshore where they don’t have proper maternity leave or supper here, so a bit unsure and nervous!

So I finally rang the hospital. 10am Monday morning. Well that could have been a disaster! Thanks ladies for getting me to pull my finger out. I'll be 13 +3.

I can get excited now though!

I'm excited to have a summer baby, I feel birthdays will be nice as you can do more! Also once I've had them I'll not be stuck in. I can get out for a nice walk about and some fresh air.

The hospital is going to be sweltering I presume. No doubt it will be the hottest/nicest day of the year. Haha.

I don't even know how to tell my bosses.

Dorabean · 19/01/2018 16:09

So glad you rang @Tweetypie95! Exciting that you've now got your date and you don't have to wait long!

I'm a summer birthday and I love it because it's always slightly better weather and I'm usually on holiday for it anyway.

Mothermnd · 19/01/2018 17:02

I'm due 10th of July! I'm 15 weeks and I've just found out I'm having a little girl as we had booked a private early gender scan. So happy💗🙈

Smilingthru · 19/01/2018 17:47

Oh no! Hopefully they'll be supportive! With DD1 I had just started when I found out I was pregnant. Thing is I wasn't just a little pregnant...16weeks!!! Had had no signs at all! Was a very awkward conversation in my first week. X

Smilingthru · 23/01/2018 06:37

Got my scan today and had a horrible dream about it! Did/is any one else extremely nervous about their 12weeks scan??!! I feel sick with worry!! With DD1 we only had the 20 week scan as we didn't know I was pregnant until I was 15weeks!!! Calm me down please!! X

Dorabean · 23/01/2018 06:55

It's very normal to worry about the 12 week scan @Smilingthru! The first time, I worried there would be nothing there because the only confirmation I'd had was a positive test! This time I had early scans but that still didn't stop me from being anxious about the 12 weeks. I had another scan yesterday and still felt nervous, even though I'd seen baby just a week ago! Chances are you'll be fine and you'll see baby wriggling away on the screen and it'll be magical! Try to enjoy the experience as much as you can, let us know how you get on! Grin

Smilingthru · 23/01/2018 07:10

Thank you. Glad it's normal to feel this way. DH is just excited which fuels my nerves even more!!! Will need to keep busy this morning as it's not until 2:30!! Argh!!! X

Dorabean · 23/01/2018 20:04

How did it go @Smilingthru?

Smilingthru · 23/01/2018 20:34

It was fine! Saw baby wriggling away and gave us a little wave! All looking good and due date confirmed as 27/07/18! Eek! X
