Which co-sleeper?

We're looking at getting a side sleeper but are unsure of which one to get. The Snuzpod sounds ideal as the side can be put up and down whilst the crib is attached to the bed, however I've read that it's quite small compared to others.

Anybody know of any others that can also be put up and down whilst attached?

I’ve seen the snuzpod and to me is smaller than the tutti bambini. Also you can take it out as you say however I tried lifting it and it was heavy for my liking and that’s without a baby in it so I’d not go up and down the stairs because of the weight.

I’ve decided to choose the tutti because all that.

Some people also like the chicco next2me I think it’s called

We got the Snuzpod because it was smaller to fit beside the bed and the top comes off to take into another room. You must not carry it with a baby inside though - very dangerous!

I have the snuzpod and I love it, it will definitely see him to 6months which is when he will go into a cot. My best friend has the Chico next2me and it’s too bit - her baby wouldn’t settle in there so she ended up buying a sleepyhead to fit into it.

Thanks for the advice - I didn't really think about the baby not being able to sleep in a bigger crib but I guess that could be a problem too. I do really like the look of the Snuzpod too

Can the side be put up and down on the tutti when it's attached?

I know they’ve had dreadful press but I loved our Bednest. The rental option was really good value and it suited us not to have another bulky baby item to store.

Sorry didnt know you couldnt use it when the baby is in it, thought if i had it in the lounge i could carry it upstairs without waking him up but I guess as another pp says it can be dangerous.

The tutti has got different heights so you can bring up and down the height as you need it

I've got a chicco next2me, used it since birth. It was pretty big at first but my DD was ok in there after the first night of unsettled-ness (to be expected, the first night of your life outside the womb!). She is still in it at now, 4 months. The extra size is useful as she would be outgrowing a moses basket easily by now.

The side can go up and down when attached. I leave it up when I'm sleeping next to her, just for safety (I'm a worrier) , but it is very useful to have it going up and down as you like.

I really like it. You can save money buying one at a baby exhibition or buying second hand (you can always get a new mattress if you need).

The Next to me is good and if it's a bit big for the baby, you can put rolled up towels under the sheet to make it feel smaller.

The chicco next to me was a life saver..we went out and bought it about 2 weeks after our son was born as he hated the Moses basket. He stayed in the next to me until he was 6 months. I make sure I tell all parents to be about it!

@Slinkier I'm a worrier too! That's why I want to be able to put it up after feeds etc when I'm sleeping. Good to know that you can.

Some good reviews of the next to me so I'll definitely consider it. I think we'll have to go to a shop and have a look at them, we're so indecisive!

If you want to have a look at the tutti bambini it’s exclusive to mothercare so you’d better go there , they normally have the 3 of them. If you decide to go for that one then morhecare if not any shop should have snuzpod or chicco next to me

We have a Snuzpod and I love it! Perfect size for our cosy bedroom. The top can be taken off, therefore no need for a Moses basket if you want baby to sleep downstairs however it isnt light (you wouldn't be able to carry it if you had a section) and you're definitely not meant to move baby in it. We didn't buy a sleepyhead or anything but you can use them together if needed.

My friend has a Chicco and found it useful for trips to see GPs as it can fold down flat. It is slightly bigger as well. My DS is 7 months and is still in his Snuzpod though!

We love our snuzpod, and it lasted until DS was 7 months. We bought it second hand.

I didn't like the look of the chicco next to me. We only used the snuzpod in the bedroom. Fits a sleepyhead in it too.

I’m looking at the halo bassinet. I like that it’s a little smaller and still has the see through sides etc. Anyone had one of these?

We have got the Snuzpod for our impending arrival - one of the selling points for me was that it rocks whereas I don’t think the next to me does?

I’m pretty sure you can put the Bednest side up and down while it’s attached - I’m sure we did with ours but it was rented so I can’t check.

What would be the point of a co-sleeper crib where you couldn’t do this?

@AprilShowers16 the next to me dream does rock!

I've gone for that one as slightly bigger so hoping will last longer, and also liked that it had soft sides. Someone is also kindly lending me the sleepyhead too. Baby not here yet so will report back!

@Blueraincoat - Definitely go to a baby show (you can get cheap tickets) to buy your next 2 me if you want it new, if you can - you'll get a way better price and you can haggle for extra sheets or other chicco stuff.
We love our next 2 me!

Oh also I saw a PP saying next 2 me doesn't rock - the old one doesn't rock but the newer version that I have does rock - it has the option, with rockers that can come out the legs, to be used when cot is freestanding with the side up, not attached, if that makes sense. You can also adjust the height of each side separately to tilt slightly if you like. I don't really use all these features, but just so you know.

Friends of mine have tried the sleepyhead inside a next 2 me to make it smaller and cosy, with mixed reviews, some swear by it...I suppose it depends on the baby. I get too worried to add anything to cots, but as I said, I'm a worrier!

Also bear in mind the height of your bed- we had to get the snuzpod as the next to me and the bed nest didn't go high enough.

How much cheaper would the next to me be at a baby show?

Does anybody have the Kinderkraft Uno? I've seen this offer on Groupon but can't find too many reviews. It looks quite similar to the next to me.

We used a bednest as others have mentioned above. I really liked it and will be using it again when our second baby comes. You can have the side completely down with it or up if you prefer. As I was breastfeeding I left the side down all the time. I believe the bad press was in relation to a fatality where the side was left half up (the manufacturers subsequently posted parts to install to all owners to stop this being an option and assume that's standard on all new models). It's a really good size as well.

We have bednest on rental, really like it. Yes terrible press but modified design means that couldn’t happen again (side used to be able to be left half up). Long but not too wide, which suits our baby/room. You should put the side up completely if unattended, this can be done while is attached to bed.

What kazzah said re: the bednest; it no longer has the option of a half folding down side. It's either up or down. A baby was killed by putting his/her head over the side when it was at half height

I will be renting one again (rented it for my last baby and loved it!)
