As the title says really- we all panic and worry so much throughout our pregnancies that I thought it would be nice for us to think about what we love about it!

For me, its knowing we are going to have a little baby soon- something we have wanted for ages.
Also love having my bump- I was alway squeamish about bumps before hand, but now if I could have one forever I would!
Ohhh- also love it when baby kicks- it makes me happy and really reassures me, even if sometimes it feels like they are doing the rumba on my bladder!!

What do you girls like best?

Nice thread! I realised too the other day, that I'm really enjoying this pregnancy business

  1. feeling baby kick which mine does after every meal and before bed. Reassuring, thrilling when it happens the first time and makes it all feel v real!
  2. being pregnant feels like a lovely secret - I know everyone can see you're pregnant, but not knowing who this person will be, what they'll like and dislike, being able to watch a completely new life unfold - well, that's pretty cool I like imagining my baby at different stages in their life - try imagining them at 45!
  3. Thought I'd be freaked out with my body changing, but I'm loving it. Bigger boobs, thicker hair and a neat bump make me feel v womanly and I'm still in awe that my body is growing a whole new human. However, spots, bleeding gums and heartburn have been the downsides
  4. Legitimately being able to look at baby clothes. I still can't get over the fact that I'm going to give birth to something that fits them!
  5. Scans - worrying and exciting at the same time. I burst into tears seeing my baby at 12 weeks - until then, it had felt like something I'd made up. But I'm gonna be a mummy
MrsBadger · 24/04/2007 12:25

let me lower the tone by saying:

  1. buying new clothes
  2. being offered the last piece of cake
  3. having an excuse to nap in the afternoons

Getting the BFP!

and of course the baby kicking

and going out for a meal with dh just before my due date - thinking this could be our last night of freedom for quite sometime....

PurpleLostPrincess · 24/04/2007 12:30

Lovely thread PPS!

I love being able to eat loads without being told off because I'm allowed to eat for two (I know that's not strictly true but I'm upholding it!).

Also, I love baby kicking and having afternoon naps as well as falling asleep on the settee in the evening (I don't sleep at night so I've got to sleep at some point!).

Being told off for doing anything too strenuous and told to relax and rest!

Have a lovely evening belgo!

PurpleLostPrincess · 24/04/2007 12:30

Oh, and getting broody with other people's babies knowing that you'll have your own in x amount of time instead of thinking 'I wish!'.

ShowOfHands · 24/04/2007 12:31

I've just discovered my favourite bit. I've started maternity leave, the weather is beautiful and I can sit outside in the sunshine with a huge glass of orange juice and tickle my baby's feet. She loves it and chases my hands around, sticking her feet out further and further. It's the first proper interaction I've had with my unborn child and I know it's going to be over so soon but for these last couple of days it's just me and her in the garden enjoying the peace.

belgo · 24/04/2007 12:31

oh I'm not pregnant just reminiscing...

PinkChick · 24/04/2007 12:31

i loved to feel the baby kicking

tasja · 24/04/2007 12:32

I love everything about it. Can't wait to fall pregnant again. We are going to try in the middle of the year.
I want to be pregnant the whole time! Love it!

Babylovesmuffins · 24/04/2007 12:34

Same as most of you ladies really...

I love showing off my bump; having an excuse to buy new clothes ; and definitely love it when the baby moves!

I also love it when people insist that you eat more as you're "eating for 2" (even though I know I don't really need to!!)

Another plus point is DH insisting that he carries things for me - I know I could manage them myself but it's nice to be spoiled for a bit

expatinscotland · 24/04/2007 12:34

Giving birth and not being pregnant anymore.

Feeling special and feeling so self-absorbed (with first pregnancy anyway, less so with this one). People talking to me and asking questions, people being genuinely happy and excited for me, being spoiled and indulged by dp.

Knowing the due date is approaching and feeling like me & dp were in a lovely bubble of expectation. It was so romantic going for walks, picnics and meals out together...talking about the future and feeling so close and happy.

Being in meetings at work and while all the boring talk was going on, my baby doing big turns and lunges. It felt like we had our own private conversation going on that noone else was aware of while they all blathered on.

Also, I loved 'the last supper' the night before dd's birth after my waters had broken. A glass or two of wine to help me sleep...a special meal with lots of carbs and a general feeling of anticipation and celebration outside in the fading evening sun. Oh bliss.

Feeling womanly too, big, booby, and womanly.
Oh, feeling really horny in the last trim. That was kind of a mixed blessing though as dp couldn't really keep up!

I just love being pregnant.

Afterwards all of it, I miss it like crazy.

During none of it as I always have rubbish pregnancies.

TeeCee · 24/04/2007 12:58

Oh God, so many things.

  • being told how great I look! That's always nice Getting told how pregnancy really suits me etc
  • strangers smiling at you. People being nice etc.
  • thinking about who's in there, what they'll be like etc. Very exciting
  • Feeling it move.
  • Having DD1 kiss and stroke my tummy (DD2 not got it at all and she kicks my tummy while I change her nappy instead!)
  • The thought of holding a new born and breastfeeding again.
  • Feeling whole, complete, sexy, empowered, and very special!
Hopeitwontbebig · 24/04/2007 13:11

Feeling the baby kick...

and being able to stick my belly out without worrying that I look fat, ooh 9 months of not holding in tummy... bliss!

BabyMadwithBump · 24/04/2007 13:14

The baby at the end LOL, not been enjoying this PG very much, counting down the days

Chocolateface · 24/04/2007 13:15

The scans. One of the best days of my life was when we had a 20 week scan and found out everything was fine (there had been concerns) We also found out we were having a girl after 2 boys. DH then took me to a really lovely reastuant for lunch.

Lwatkins · 24/04/2007 13:34

The bit at the end where I'm not pregnant anymore. Haven't enjoyed being pregnant at all, and at 35+5 am now totally fed up!

mumto3girls · 24/04/2007 13:37

I loved being pregnant..I'm sooo jealous of you lot!!

choochie · 24/04/2007 13:39

I loved the scans too, I loved all the checkups where I got to listen to the heartbeat, I loved that sound.

Rumpel · 24/04/2007 13:39

Not being pregnant anymore! Bleurgh - spew. Awful. Loved baby kicking though

princessmel · 24/04/2007 13:49

Most of mine are similar to TC post.

I loved the feeling of them moving inside.

The scans were amazing. I would have loved to have one every week.

The fuss and excited feeling from family and friends.

My bump, when it was neat and not stretch marked.

I really looked forward to bf again too. I felt so guilty after stopping bf ds.

princessmel · 24/04/2007 13:51
