Waters breaking?

I'm 38+6, when I got out of bed this morning I had this sudden gush of fluid run down my legs, it was quite a lot. So I Put a pad on then called up triage, she advised me to lay on my side for half an hour then check the pad. With my first I had to get my waters broken so haven't experienced going into labour naturally. She said it could have been a few things such as urine or discharge. Might need to go up to the hospital and get assessed.

What was people's experience like when your waters broke?

That sounds like it to me. I went to the loo in the night, and had a very similar gush experience.

Exciting! Thanks

Sounds like waters breaking to me! How exciting. Can we have a live birth thread (in between the contractions Xmas Wink. Do you know what you're having? (aside from a baby....)

Eeeek!!! I called back up sorry for the tmi but told her that the pad I had on wasn't completely soaked so I've to keep an eye on it today. Had no More leaking 🙈 @celticlassie

Woke up in the night, went to the loo came back and felt a gush down my leg.

Didn’t realise what it was as I was so tired so went back to sleep then realised it was still coming, went back to the toilet and it didn’t stop. I soaked about 3 maternity pads in an hour and then it just stayed as a small trickle afterwards. Waters smell sweet so that’s how you can tell the difference according to my MW!

Good luck, I hope this is it for you! Flowers

Mine went at 9 cm in hospital and I was shocked at how much there was... I know they always say 'it's a big gush' but it was everywhere. I actually got quite panicky and had to be calmed down Blush

MrsMarigold · 15/12/2017 10:19

Mine went in spectacular style both times, no way it could be confused with anything else. I had to go into the hospital in a taxi, sitting on bin bags and old towels.

mindutopia · 15/12/2017 10:24

It's very likely that's what it was. My waters broke first with my first labour. It was really obvious what it was. I've never just randomly leaked that much fluid without sneezing or coughing, so it was clear it wasn't urine. Also, it just smelled like water, not urine. And I couldn't stop it. Like when I clenched by pelvic floor muscles, as if to stop a wee, it just kept coming. So I'm guessing that's what it could be for you. My contractions started up within the next couple of hours, so fingers crossed for you.

It does sound like your waters have broken! Good luck for a speedy, not too painful labour! 🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀

Celtic this is where I tell my DM's story of her waters breaking. She was on the loo, her waters broke, she thought, "This is a very long wee!" Xmas Grin

Thank you for all your replies ladies. Just been for a pee and when I wiped there was a little bit jelly snot on the tissue, think that sounds like the mucus plug!

Toasttea · 15/12/2017 11:20

Mine broke in the middle of the night, a weird sensation woke me up and I felt a bit wet but I wasn't soaked. Literally only a little bit in my knickers so I really wasn't too sure if I had just wet myself or not. Contractions started about 2 mins later though so I knew it was all starting. Midwife in hospital later confirmed it was my waters.

Monkeypuzzle32 · 15/12/2017 16:37

Mine broke this morning! They literally woke me up as they gushed out-I had a lot of water do it kept coming and couldn't have been anything else other than amniotic fluid! 😆

hedlesschicken · 15/12/2017 16:46
