Waters breaking?

I'm 38+6, when I got out of bed this morning I had this sudden gush of fluid run down my legs, it was quite a lot. So I Put a pad on then called up triage, she advised me to lay on my side for half an hour then check the pad. With my first I had to get my waters broken so haven't experienced going into labour naturally. She said it could have been a few things such as urine or discharge. Might need to go up to the hospital and get assessed.

What was people's experience like when your waters broke?

If it is your waters I think they normally only like you to go 24 hours before baby arrives due to the risk of infection so might be worth getting checked out. I hope this is it! Good luck!

Mammyloveswine · 15/12/2017 17:36

I had this with my first... it was pee... baby must have shifted onto my bladder as i got up lol. As it happened I needed my waters breaking at 7cm dilated... and a week later 🙈. They'll probs get you in to check you over any way. Good luck xx

Toasttea I'm in hospital being monitored but nothing much doing yet, Sunshine is right they want to give it 24 hours then are trying their old line of induction which I am anti! Good luck 👍🏻

Aww bless are you in hospital

Monkeypuzzle32 · 18/12/2017 21:14

I have! (Sorry to jump on your thread) at 12:28 on Saturday by c section-certainly not what I wanted but it was actually s good experience and the consultant said thank goodness I'd said no to induction. Anyway I have a daughter 8lbs 4 oz!

jerryortom · 18/12/2017 21:32

Congratulations Thanks

Toasttea · 18/12/2017 21:39

@monkeypuzzle32 congratulations! So happy for you.

Still no baby here yet. I had midewife today, baby's head is down but not fully engaged. Booked in for a sweep next week with midwife then if that doesn't work will be an induction which I would rather not have after my experience with my first.

Come on baby!!!! Get out get out get out

thanks all-any news Toasttea ? whats the rush with the sweep/induction? I flat out refused.
Fingers crossed for you!

Toasttea · 21/12/2017 17:55

@monkeypuzzle32 nope nothing happening at all apart from terrible fanny daggers!!

I will be 40+4 by then, she said it's completely up to me if I want the sweep or not. I really don't want to be induced! I'm just wanting this baby out now so uncomfortable.

Hope you and baby are doing well!

Monkeypuzzle32 · 21/12/2017 19:14

LIGHTNING CROTCH!! The reason I refused a sweep was because I was only 39w1 when I actually had her and 38w3 when they wanted to do it and the best odds I was given was 50% chance of it working, so it wasn't for me.
I take it you are doing the birth ball, walking, raspberry leaf tea, lavender & clary sage and hot sex thing?!

Monkeypuzzle32 · 21/12/2017 19:15

*not all at once I might add. We are doing ok, in some pain from the caesarean and finding BF hard but we are healthy and she is adorable!

Toasttea · 21/12/2017 19:45

@monkeypuzzle32 that's a bit early to be offered a sweep I would have said no too. My midwife told me i you was too early for one just now. Yup I've been on the tea, had the spicy curry, had sex. Nothing is budging this baby. I have been getting a weird yellow discharge which I have Called up about twice since I had that gush last Friday morning. I've been told it's part of the show but i don't think it's meant to be yellow. I'm Due in 2 days!

I was induced with gel and pessary and sweeps with both of mine. I never had a problem with either.... my waters refused point blank to pop though so I had to have the crocheting needle up for them to go pop!

As soon as that happened that was it! Contraction galore and out they came Smile

ChanandlerBongsNeighbour · 21/12/2017 20:51

I was on all fours on a high hospital bed in the throes of active labour, the midwife was checking how dilated I was when my waters went. Right in her face. She needed to change her whole outfit Blush

Hope baby comes soon OP!

ChanandlerBongsNeighbour · 21/12/2017 20:52

(That was at 40 +6 on the day I had my second sweep which triggered labour immediately!)

Toasttea · 21/12/2017 21:05

@jerryortom I had the pessory with my first and it worked within 3 hours. I woke up in labour at 1am!
