Apologies for repeat post, I was in a flap and initially posted under family planning. Thanks to those that replied there... maybe more traffic here!
Just did a clear blue, immediate faint line but I dont know if eyes deceive me. Have also just done a cheap clear & simple and it’s negative! How does that work, are the cheap ones less or more reliable? Thankyou x

Aw, thankyou for that @MsHarry. I’m in a flap! Have spent the last six weeks banging on about how shit the menopause is and googling ovarian cyst symptoms. My partner hasn’t had the snip but I think he might be in shock if this does turn out to be a pregnancy 😮

Poor you, how confusing! Save your first wee of the morning to test when your next one arrives maybe?

EllenRipley · 11/11/2017 20:00

Eww cripes @Rainbowandraindrops67 , that’s thrown me a bit of a curveball 😟 I had an ovarian cyst removed by laparoscopic surgery almost exactly a year ago and biopsy came back clear and I had my ca125 done about ten days ago and it was in normal range. Could I have suddenly developed it in the space of a year?

Oh gosh! Definitely try the FRER ones. X

EllenRipley · 11/11/2017 20:02

Yep, that’s my plan @HRoosevelt. I wish there was some kind of belly button alarm system that just went off immediately.

Fingers crossed you get the result you want

EllenRipley · 11/11/2017 20:07

Thankyou everyone x

If you’ve just had your blood test 20 days ago and it was negative then that’s surely a very good sign it wouldn’t be cancer?

EllenRipley · 11/11/2017 20:15

I would hope so @Rainbowandraindrops67
I’m a bit of a worrier....

OP posts:
MsHarry · 11/11/2017 20:43

Why come on and say that Rainbow really not helpful.

Rainbowandraindrops67 · 11/11/2017 21:02

Are you joking Mrsharry?! Because people need to aware of the symptoms of cancers especially ovarian cancer so they can make sure they get tested for everything a symptom can point to. Are you seriously saying I should have just come on here and congratulated the op on her pregnancy?! That would be extremely unhelpful imo!

MsHarry · 11/11/2017 21:06

You don't know OP and I think it is irresponsible to blurt out a much rarer cause of the positive result. I'm sure OP will be seeking medical advice herself. If i have a headache it could be a brain tumour couldn't it?

Rainbowandraindrops67 · 11/11/2017 21:08

Honestly what is wrong with munsnet atm!

Op getting back to the conversation we were having...! I can understand your worry - it’s a bit odd to be getting a faint positive at your age and given the timeline you’ve described BUT at this stage it could be a number of things. I wouldn’t worry so much about cancer given you’ve now said you’ve had recent investigations . I think some pitutary things and cysts can also produce positives but I’m not 100% sure. Tomorrow you can see if the line is darker or not which will give you a good heads up - a much darker line surely pregnancy as anything worrisome wouldn’t rise like a pregnancy would?
In answer to your earlier q - do check the levels of hormone each test looks at as they list their sensitivity on the box. Frer very sensitive (25) and digital ones not sensitive at all and need more hormone to produce a positive.

Rainbowandraindrops67 · 11/11/2017 21:10

Mrsharry - she’s 46 and been having symptoms for nearly 2 months but only just got a positive test. Read the posts.

MsHarry · 11/11/2017 21:11

So sorry rainbow Hmm

EllenRipley · 11/11/2017 22:24

Hi, please don’t get into a spat! Though @MsHarry I do appreciate your support - the not-very-sugarcoated possibility of ovarian cancer is really the last thing I needed to hear (possibly being pregnant at my age is shock enough). But I accept that on Mumsnet you are open to all thoughts on your OP, and I do appreciate your concern @Rainbowandraindrops67. The possibility of something sinister has been very much on my mind for the last 6 weeks.

The cheap (& negative) clear & simple tests, which I’ve tried twice (incl today) and which look similar to the doc’s from a couple of weeks ago say 20mlU, while the one that had the faint positive say 25. I’m not sure what the digi one is cos I’m too lazy to go downstairs. But that’s good to know, hadn’t thought of that. Will see what tomorrow brings!

Ohhhhhhh yes! Congratulations!!! I’m so jealous!!! X

Protectingmydaughterfromfilth · 11/11/2017 23:39

Personally I would call your local Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit tomorrow (open Sunday mornings). They will do a scan and a blood test straight away...... With a view to ruling out Ectopic. However it will certainly tell you if you’re pregnant or not. Call them 9am tomorrow. Usually in your local hospital x

Protectingmydaughterfromfilth · 11/11/2017 23:45

This is worth a read though OP

user1469751309 · 11/11/2017 23:55

Hope your ok OP Flowers

EllenRipley · 11/11/2017 23:56

@Protectingmydaughterfromfilth thankyou, that is very interesting! I’ve one digi test left so I’ll do it in the morning. The one I did today was in the afternoon and my pee was pretty dilute. So I guess that should tell me one way or t’other.

OP posts:
EllenRipley · 12/11/2017 08:49

Just an update, I did the second clear blue digi test AND a clear & simple one with first pee of the day, and both negative! So that’s about four negative tests since the first apparently positive one. I’m thinking definite peri-menopause aberration 😳

OP posts:
MsHarry · 12/11/2017 09:05

No spat. Hope all will be well. Sorry to congratulate on the unplanned positive but I simply read your OP and hadn't realised all the details. don't always have time to read whole thread( I know that is a cardinal sin on here sometimes) and there are so many threads similar that are desperate to see that blue line, it looked like one of those initially. The joys of the peri menopause are yet to take effect on my 46 yr old self, apart from the odd skipped period in the last couple of years. So, good luck to you .
