Reduced movements

38 weeks tomorrow and scheduled for an elective at 39+3. Haven't felt baby move all day even though I had a lie down and a sleep this pm and haven't done that much today bar some driving around doing errands.
He is moving now I am sitting on the sofa but not very much, have eaten and drank normally today so nothing obvious there.
Should I still go up for monitoring ?

Call your midwife. They will prob amwant you to go in to get the heart rate checked and a scan. Bring a bag with you just in case. It's always worth checking.

Sometimes I think they move a bit less towards the end - I had that with baby 1 and I went for a scan. I wouldn’t panic but ring the Midwife and see if you can get checked out :)

When I went to triage they told me they were always there and it was better to be safe than sorry

Even though it's gentle movements here and there now , not the usual smashing about he does (very slim so can feel every bloody poke).

Had an extra scan the other week for growth as was measuring at 31 when I was 36 , but they couldn't decide if he was big or small

OP, honestly, just go. Take your hospital bag. Going up there unneccesarily is better than the alternative. Don't waste anymore time.

Please go right now. Don’t minimise it or rationalise it. Don’t take risks with something so important. Hopefully it is nothing, but a change in pattern is worrying, so please please just drop everything and get checked out.

Go in. It’s not just lack of movements that are a reason to get checked, change in pattern is a good reason too.

I did go for massively increased movement (and on a totally different time schedule to usual) a few weeks ago and was dismissed after 30 mins on the monitor as being paranoid , as "it's only decreased movements that need to be worried about "

I went in three tines with my second. Too important to fanny around.

I mentioned at a routine midwife appointment reduced movement. She sent me straight in for monitoring. My son was induced. The cord was round his neck 3 times and knotted. 9 times out of ten it's fine but always seek professional advice

If your baby is moving less than is normal for them you should get checked.

If your baby is moving more than is normal for them you should get checked.

If any member of staff makes you feel stupid ask them if they are happy to sign to say they sent you home and said not to come again unless XYZ.

This is your baby and if anything bad happens it is you and not the midwife that will carry that.

Get checked.

I went loads with dc2 after nearly losing dc1. Some midwives made me feel shit but she was my baby and she was all that mattered.
