My cervix is soft, is labour pending?

I’m getting waves of a ‘pushing down period feeling’ every 10 minutes. Feels really off.

My cervix is super soft too, does this mean anything?

I heard it goes soft so it’s easier to dilate Blush

I’m 37+3. Section booked for 13th. Would love to go naturally before then

I'm being daft but how do you know your cervix is soft? Can you self check?

BlueButTrue · 28/10/2017 22:51

I’ve checked, yes. Like I use to check when TTC Blush

I wouldn't have a clue how! Blush

I just feel heavy between my legs, like my insides are going to fall out.

DeadDoorpost · 28/10/2017 23:15

Id phone your midwife Blue just to check. Better than worrying at home by yourself. Hope you get to go naturally though! Good luck!

BlueButTrue · 29/10/2017 09:26

OnNature Oh bless you, when are you due?

I keep getting this period pain things now that are on and off, really uncomfortable!

No idea what they are. Mixture of being in my lower back and round the front where you would usually get period pain

Ohh will this be a birth thread? Grin

NapQueen · 29/10/2017 09:37

Definetly sounds promising.

Im amazed you can check, I could barely get socks on towards the end.

BlueButTrue · 29/10/2017 10:08

I hope it’ll be a birth thread! Grin Will post baby’s photo if it is Flowers

Oh how exciting! It does sound promising. 37+4 here and tried to check own cervix and can't reach it. So assuming that means it's too high and I'm nowhere near. EPO insertion commenced last night

NameChange30 · 29/10/2017 10:33

Ha ha that's early contractions!
Feels like strong period pain to begin with.
Best of luck!

BlueButTrue · 29/10/2017 10:39

Hopeless Good luck to you Flowers

NameChange30 Really?! When does the pain begin? It isn’t comfortable but not painful etc

OP posts:
DeadDoorpost · 29/10/2017 10:47

I don't even know if I want to check my cervix, it's drive me crazy.
Good luck Blue! Keep us posted!

NameChange30 · 29/10/2017 11:31

I guess it's different for everyone, I was expecting it to take a while for things to kick off, but it was pretty fast for me. Felt like strong period pain, it was constant to begin with but then turned into contractions quite soon.

I guess the sensations will probably start feeling stronger and the waves will be more intense and closer together? But no way of knowing how fast or slow it will progress.

MollyHuaCha · 29/10/2017 11:43

I’m getting excited. Good luck.

BlueButTrue · 29/10/2017 11:46

Thanks all, I’m quite taken aback. Wasn’t expecting this, especially since it’s my first!

Waves of pain still coming every 6 minutes or so now. Not painful though. Feels like DS is going to fall out when I walk around, Head feels like it’s lodged or something

Molly Please tell me you’re providing energy drinks and salt and vinegar snacker jacks? cough cough Grin

NameChange30 · 29/10/2017 11:57

If the waves get closer together it might be a good idea to put on a big sanitary pad or maternity pad, just in case.

Is your hospital bag ready and birth partner on standby?

Easier said than done but try to stay as calm as possible, relax or move around or eat - whatever you feel your body needs.

NameChange30 · 29/10/2017 11:59

Also I'm a bit confused because you say "waves of pain" but also "not painful"! Grin
Do you mean the surges are painful but it's not painful in between? Or the surges themselves are not painful, just uncomfortable?

BlueButTrue · 29/10/2017 14:44

The waves of ‘pain’ aren’t comfortable- that’s what I meant. Didn’t want to say waves of uncomfortableness or something Grin

I’ve just finished a pack of monster munch, and bag all packed.

DH here with me.

Hope my waters don’t go on my new carpets Envy

TheNewMrs · 29/10/2017 15:39

How are you feeling Blue?
I'm only 14 weeks with my first but so excited to have my baby here, I'll probably get far too involved in this thread Grin

BlueButTrue · 29/10/2017 15:56

Argh, still the same thing Hmm no changes! I’m so frustrated, why isn’t this turning into anything stronger lol

TheNewMrs Bless you! When are you due? It’s my first too, I’m also a new Mrs Wink

Marking place for a cute baby pic. Good luck OP! Have a big carby meal and a nap if you can.

Soon2bemum2017 · 29/10/2017 16:00

Sounds exactly like early labour to me op! My contractions wern't painful until after my waters went and then they became very painful very quickly.

The pressure is the thing i would be concerned about though. When i felt pressure it went very quickly onto the pushing stage.

BlueButTrue · 29/10/2017 16:27

Tempted to take Gunpowder’s advice and take a nap, really feel like I could!

The pressure isn’t intense but it is there when I walk etc.

I’m so tired I just want to sleep, although these contractions (or whatever else they are), seem to be on the sharper side now. Still not unbearable though!!

Can you check your cervix again?! So exciting!
