I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.
MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk
If you need help in obtaining medication, phone them on:
024 7638 2020
Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy
I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.
Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Oh sorry to hear about weasle, if you read this, hope you're doing ok.

Huge congratulations onnature, so glad your little one is here safe and sound, though horrible that you had an awful birth experience, I hope recovery goes well for you over the coming weeks.

OnNaturesCourse · 09/11/2017 18:43

Thank you. Luckily my sickness dropped off right when my contractions started, it's like my body knew I had enough to deal with.

justtheonethen · 09/11/2017 18:53

nature Smile massive congratulations!

batman I totally ADORE battlestar galactica. Baby Apollo?

So sorry to read about weasledee Sad

Shehz21 · 09/11/2017 18:55

Congratulations Nature ! Yay Team Pink!🌸
So glad to hear the sickness is all gone!
Enjoy baby cuddles and ALL THE FOOD!

NerNerNerNerBATMAN · 09/11/2017 19:15

Justtheonethen a woman after my own heart Grin I've always thought that Gaius and Galen would be the perfect names for my imaginary twin boys. DG strongly disagrees.

DD is named after the roman equivalent of the name Hera.

Apollo would be a fabulous name.

Apologies to everyone else on this thread as this will make no sense!!!Grin

BlueButTrue · 09/11/2017 19:16

Nature Congratulations! A girl, you’re so lucky FlowersFlowers

NerNer Do you like the name Athena at all? That’s mine and DH’s name of choice for a baby girl Smile

LucindaE · 09/11/2017 19:21

OnNature'sCourse Happy news. Star Flowers Grin BrewCake.
I am sorry labour was finally horrible, but welcome over the drawbridge to the Pink Castle (I got that idea from a castle in the clouds on the last square of an old family Snakes and Ladders board. It happened to be pink, though lets down the drawbridge for team blue too. It struck me that Hyperemesis was like a horrible board game: drink a glass of water, up a ladder, morning bile run, down a snake again ).
putput What a lovely photo. Star Flowers Grin. I am so happy to hear that.
I am really sad to hear that weasledee has suffered another loss.
I hope she is being looked after in real life.
TwoDrifters How are things?
BlueButTrue and everyone?

BlueButTrue I love the name 'Athena' but as a matriarch, I would!

NerNerNerNerBATMAN · 09/11/2017 19:41

Blue yes it's on the list, Athena is a great name

TwoDrifters · 09/11/2017 19:47

Congratulations Nature that’s excellent news!

I’m fine really thank you Lucinda just quaffing some wine and cuddling my DS, feeling grateful for what I have.

Hugs to everyone x

justtheonethen · 09/11/2017 19:49

batman I adore your DD's name!

Natsku · 09/11/2017 20:21

Ooo Athena is a good name, I couldn't use it though, it would get pronounced like at-heh-na here which sounds too much like antenna!

BlueButTrue · 09/11/2017 20:24

Ahh I do love Athena, but it’s Vincent for a boy SmileGrin

Mustang27 · 09/11/2017 20:35

Oh Ons that’s fantastic news. Ignore if you don’t want to answer but how did it end up horrific? So glad the sickness went quickly.

I love Athena.

Sorry sickness through roof tonight Sad

DeadDoorpost · 09/11/2017 20:38

Just realised I totally missed natures post. Congratulations! At least the sickness went and that the beginning of it was all good. Sorry to hear the birth itself was horrible 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

MeadowHay · 09/11/2017 20:52

Congratulations to Nature, what lovely news Smile. Sorry to hear birth experience was horrible but hope you are feeling a bit better now that you are no longer sick and have your DD Flowers.

Sorry to hear Drifters news too Sad.

I had my booking appt today. The midwife was really nice which was good. I thought it might cheer me up a bit but I was retching even in the appt and I got sad thinking my idea of a day out now is a meal deal in the hospital...I've been off work for 3 weeks and I'm not even 9 weeks yet. I'm due to go back on Tuesday when my sick note runs out which clearly is not about to happen. I even spoke to the GP yesterday on the phone but cos of my anxiety disorder and being so anxious about work I couldn't manage to ask for a new sick note, so now I need to get in contact again. I'm so worried about losing my job and also feel really bad for my colleagues as we were short-staffed as it is. The midwife assured me I should be better after the end of the first trimester...all the hospital staff tell me that but you ladies all say otherwise?! Confused. Feeling utterly miserable like there is no end in sigh right now Sad.

seizethecuttlefish · 09/11/2017 20:59

Put she’s gorgeous, love the name and congrats
Drifters sorry for your loss but glad cuddles are helping
Weasel if you read this, just know I’m thinking about you
Nature congrats.
Dead I had constant colds with my son. This time I feel a bit phlegm’s but hasn’t come to anything. My mouth is dry as anything in the morning, do suspect my nose is blocked and I’m snoring. Pregnancy is so glam!
For everyone feeling isolated, hugs. I got a text from my work yesterday to tell me we’re all moving desks and as I’m not in I’m getting a rubbish desk. I texted back thanks for your amazing support through this tough time. I resisted the urge to finish with a rude word.
It’s been a rubbish few days here. I have to take aspirin and they’ve kindly given me dissolvable stuff...gagg! Now on omprezole, waiting for it to kick in, so I can stop sleeping like an upright corpse. According to my husband.

OnNaturesCourse · 09/11/2017 22:41

Hi all.

Well it's been a crazy day, and super crazy week thus far!

As some of you will know I got what I thought was my bloody show on Sunday evening but it was very red and literally dripping in the toilet bowl twice. On Sunday night bump was quiet but still moving enough not to cause concern (oddly DP could feel movement but I couldn't) Come Monday lunch time I was having brown, gloopy down discharge and just didn't feel right. Bump was still quiet but there was movement, just not as strong. DP insisted I get checked. Get to hospital and bump only moved the once on the tracker machine but it was noted that my stomach was constantly in a half tight faze with irregular higher tightenings. Doctor decided to admit me and get me induced. Got the pessary at 22:30 and woke at 3am in agony as my body had went into overdrive with the hormones and was constantly in a contraction state. Thankfully with painkillers I was able to wait this out and the constructions starting coming frequently instead of all the time. Spent all day walking and bouncing on my ball. By 22:30 I was 2-3cm dilated. Sent to L&D (on 2 hours sleep) at 2am where they broke my waters. Hormone drip started at 3am as i still wasnt experiencing major pain with the contractions aside from pain in my lower back and butt cheeks. Stomach pain eventually slapped me in the face around 5am and I went on gas and air at 6:45. By 7:45 I was saying I needed to push but nothing else was said about it so I continued to labor through, by 8:15ish I had come off my birth ball and literally fell onto my hands and knees in front of DP (on a seat) and started pushing... Much to the shock of the midwife. As soon as I did babies heart rate dropped. They got me into the bed and put a clip on babies head to better monitor them. I then had to stay on the bed but managed to get onto my side then all fours, hanging over the back of the bed holding onto DP. I soon realised my pushes where pushing baby so far but they were moving back up after. I kept saying this but got told to "give it my all" as "baby was coming up the bend" (around cervix/tail bone) Around 9am baby's heart rate was randomly dipping and taking longer to come up and my pulse was sky high so a doctor was pulled in, I was "numbed" down there and had forceps shoved in during a contraction... So I was back on my back with baby stuck at / on my tailbone area. Agony. I was that distressed I had tossed and gas n air as it was making me feel sick and I didn't even think of asking for anything else as I was that distressed. Forceps had to go in and push down on my tailbone, I've never had pain like it. DD was born side ways, head first with hand over face then one shoulder before the next with the cord round her neck twice and torso twice. I ended up with two stitches.

Turns out when I was pushing the cord wasn't allowing her down, plus she was getting lodged.

I was pushing / contracting every 3 minutes for around 2 minutes each time. Proper chin down, big breath push down in your butt pushes. So i was exhausted and actually dozing off after contractions as I couldn't stay awake.

Plus side... Baby was always recorded as "small" but in range. She was born 7lb 4oz at exactly 38 weeks.

She's bruised badly, I'm stitched and bruised and swollen, but she's here and I love her. Grin

DeadDoorpost · 09/11/2017 23:12

Flipping heck nature That's one heck of a birth story 😂😂 sounds incredibly painful though. I can't believe how the midwife/Drs were... but good thing you got monitored.

NonStopDisco · 09/11/2017 23:19

Nature congratulations, what a time of it you’ve had!

weasledee · 09/11/2017 23:22

Congratulations Nature! You sound like you went through the mill but clearly she’s worth it :)

You lot are a lovely bunch thinking of me! I didn’t update the group that I’d had another loss as I was beginning to become the voice of doom!! :)

As I said I always thought it was suspicious that I was having a HG free pregnancy and as my 8 week scan I was confirmed that baby had stopped growing at 6 weeks, the point my sickness usually starts....
I had a erpc a week ago and I’m doing good now, think after the summer we had I was expecting bad news!
We’re not sure if we’re going to try again, certainly not this year. But if we do I’m sure I’ll be here again!
Thanks for the support this year, it’s invaluable when u feel so so poorly x

DeadDoorpost · 10/11/2017 03:09

Anytime weasle, if you do try again I wish you all the best but definitely don't rush it or feel you need to. Flowers

spearo21 · 10/11/2017 05:43

Congrats to you nature!! Sounds sore but oh so worth it!!!

justtheonethen · 10/11/2017 07:14

nature wow! Sounds like you've been through it! Glad it was all worth it!

weasle I'm so sorry. I look forward to hearing good news from you shortly. Take some time to heal and know we are thinking of you.

Shehz21 · 10/11/2017 07:30

Omg Nature so glad it's all over now! Hope you recover fast from all the bruises and stitches and you get to enjoy your new HG free life nowSmile

weasle Take as much time as you need and once you will be ready to embark on the TTC journey, our warm wishes will always be with you.
Sending massive hugs your way!
