I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.
MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk
If you need help in obtaining medication, phone them on:
024 7638 2020
Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy
I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.
Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

I set my DH packing my bag. He did a marvellous job, so neat and tidy, all the right stuff, in a sensible layout, but I decided I wanted it in a different bag, and I needed some extra stuff, so everything is strewn about the utility area (along with my third set of snacks).

OnNaturesCourse good luck!

DeadDoorPost I’ve chosen names and kept them secret. People keep insisting I tell them, so I give them a random name out of Greek legend or whatever. Some interesting responses from people who think I’m serious...

Had a chat with the baby again, we’ve plans for the next couple of days, so I’ve asked them to start making their way out quick sharp on Saturday. Fed up of holding my breath at every twinge thinking that this could be it!

DeadDoorpost · 09/11/2017 00:48

disco we've been using Atticus so frequently that some people will be genuinely shocked I think when they find out thats not his name.
I like how you got your DH to do your bag. If mine did it I'd never know what was in there. And I'm fed up with the false alarms too. I had 2 contamractions that I thought were going to be the beginning but nope. Must have just been a reaction to the slightly spicier than usual burritos we had for dinner. They were strong enough and far apart enough for me to genuinely stop and think though sighs
BabyDoor doesn't take any notice of me when I talk to him. I doubt he'll do what u ask him to...

DeadDoorpost · 09/11/2017 00:48

*contractions
*what I ask him to

NonStopDisco · 09/11/2017 01:10

Dead I read the suggestion on another board somewhere, I think it pointed out that during labour, your birth partner is going to be the one going into it for various bits and bobs- plus it gave him some time to come to the reality of it (I had to lead him gently from the sanitary towels for the after birth bleeding to the huge knicker pillows they call “maternity pads”).
I tried spicy Mexican food last week, gave me nothing but heartburn! DiscoChild is not usually compliant either, but thinking that there’s no harm in at least trying to let them know there’s some sort of plan..

DeadDoorpost · 09/11/2017 02:03

Luckily my DH isn't really phased by the maxi pads lol. He walked into the bathroom once when I was on a particularly heavy period. He now totally understands the need 😂 and luckily the bag we're taking is a decent size. You can't really lose anything in there as it's all easily seen. Half of it is full of snacks. I don't need much with me at hospital..
BabyDoor likes spicy food. Sadly it won't kick start labour like my mum reckons it will "it worked for me it'll work for you. As will having sex". I had to tell her it was a coincidence that they worked because nipple stimulation is the only one actually proven to bring on labour out of them all so far.. which DH is more than happy to try 😂😂

NonStopDisco · 09/11/2017 04:11

I was on the implant for a few years, with no periods, and then Just had light periods that were contained by a mooncup, so mine hasn’t been exposed to what periods can be like for some women!
I’m not really into the “X will bring on labour” stuff, it’s like being gingered all over again! Even the nipple tweaking can take several hours to start to have an effect. My MIL keeps telling me I should be doing various bits of housework, and that will definitely induce labour (scrubbing the kitchen floor), because it worked for her. I will be telling my daughter/ DIL that sitting in the house watching Netflix boxsets triggers labour (probably where I will be when it happens) with a completely straight face, pretty sure it must be in the grandparent-to-be handbook!

Natsku · 09/11/2017 05:14

Winky I'd consider starting meds now if I were you as that should make it easier to get it under control rather than waiting until the sickness starts. And good luck, I hope this time around you don't get so ill.

I can't decide on a name Dead I've always wanted Aslak for a boy ever since I was a child (it would have been my name if I had been a boy, and actually was for about ten minutes until my parents realised I didn't have a penis Grin and it's also a character from Lappish folklore and I love his story) but now I'm not so sure as there's other names I really like too like Otso (means bear), Taisto (means fight or struggle - and this pregnancy has definitely been a struggle!) and, for some reason, Alfred (possibly because I was watching Alfred J Kwak a few weeks ago). OH is no help as he just says I can choose the name as I know best what works in English as well as Finnish.

BlueButTrue · 09/11/2017 07:36

Those of you that are getting Braxton Hicks, are they painful?

Mine bloody are and they’re all in my lower back/lower middle. It’s like really bad period pain every 10 minutes for a good hour, and then they stop.

No idea what’s going on.

I think I told everyone about last week, I seriously thought I was in labour Blush

If this is just BH’s that ‘aren’t suppose to be painful’, what the feckery would labour be like?!

pippanippa · 09/11/2017 08:11

Welcome winky so sorry to hear of your awful experience last time around, and hoping the sickness and depression are better this time, it sounds like you've got great support from your GP which is brilliant. Glad to hear your husband is on the mend Lucinda!

Blue it does sound like you're gearing up. I was always told the test of whether they were just braxton hicks or the real thing was to either change position e.g. if you're moving round a lot lie down, or vice versa, or take a bath. If they stop most likely braxton hicks. Going to the toilet more often is usually a good sign....but can also nothing Sad. Have you got a contraction timer app? There's lots of free ones which are a good way to keep track of things if you're unsure.

Nonstopdisco you are totally right. I picked all the contents of my bag and then my DH packed it, it worked well last time as he was the one that was running to fetch things and that way he knew what/where everything was. He also added a couple of nice surprise things from home like my comfy dressing gown which were very much appreciated!

deaddoor no names decided here yet....really need to sort that out...

Onnature hope things are going well!

It ended up being a miserable day of quite spectacular vomiting yesterday and last night. Hoping for a better day today - in a way it reminded me that I'm lucky that I am at least feeling a bit better than in the early days, so hope that reassures some of you still in those horrible first 3-5 months.

There is absolutely zero sign of baby here.

Shehz21 · 09/11/2017 09:03

Pippa Commiserations :(
Having loads of rough days here as well but true, it's not half as bad as compared to the first 16/20 weeks.
Gentle hand hold while hoping for a better day.

Mustang It's very kind of you to offer guidance about hospital bag packing. Flowers
DH is keeping his pen and notepad ready!

Dead Name has been decided but was met with negative comments from some relatives. Still deciding to keep it though,we absolutely love it and call Baby Shehz by that name from the time we find out its a pink bump! MIL is trying to convince us to use the name she wants but NOWAY!

Winky Welcome! Hope you don't have to join us this time but if ever life is unfair and you do join us, we are all there for you every step of the way :)
My story is very similar to yours and I had the termination due to real lack of support in RL and didn't know mumsnet then. This time MN has really helped to a great GREAT extent and I have managed to get through the awful first trimester thanks to a great DH and MN.
I'd second Natsku about starting the meds now itself though.. It can really make a difference to delay the onset. Goodluck on this journeyFlowers

TwoDrifters · 09/11/2017 10:29

Currently sat in EPU as I started bleeding fairly heavily an hour or so ago. Feeling miserable but it is what it is, I suppose.

For those packing their hospital bags, don’t forget earplugs! If you’re stuck on a large ward with neighbouring snorers, it is highly unpleasant. I speak from experience!

Oklahoma · 09/11/2017 10:35

Hugs Drifters I hope everything is ok

LucindaE · 09/11/2017 10:50

winky Welcome back. I am sorry that things ended so tragically last time. I am glad that this time you have a pre-emptive meds and anti depressents. Not sure of your name two years ago? You will remember my spiel about the best liquids and kesostix from before. I am afraid my own and others did begin with savage heartburn, but that is common and many women get that without it ever progressing to Hyperemesis.

OP posts:
Natsku · 09/11/2017 10:51

Oh no drifters hugs

LucindaE · 09/11/2017 10:52

TwoDrifters My goodness, I mised your post. I am so sorry. You must be so anxious. Not much I can say, but that I have been there and do feel for you. I hope you have lots of real life support?

BlueButTrue · 09/11/2017 11:08

TwoDrifters I hope everything is well and it’s just a scare Flowers

pippa I keep using those apps when it happens and it all suggests I’m in early labour, but that can’t be possible - same thing has been happening for a week.

It’s all quite dramatic, well I’m being dramatic I suppose... But they really are quite uncomfortable! It’s very frustrating, I have things to do today but I know walking around the town will be really uncomfortable

BlueButTrue · 09/11/2017 11:10

TrueDrifters cant find you on the due dates list so not sure how far along you are - Probably not very helpful but I had really heavy bleeds at the beginning. I was originally carrying triplets but the twin pregnancy came away

NonStopDisco · 09/11/2017 11:22

Drifters hope everything goes ok. I had a few bleeds up to 14 weeks that turned out to be an extra chorionic haemorrhage- soaked through a few pads, but turned out ok in the end, and didn’t affect the pregnancy. Hope it is something like that for you.

DeadDoorpost · 09/11/2017 11:24

drifters hope everything is ok, and that if anything is wrong you've got the support you need.
blue PiL really seem to like to try and boss people about don't they. What is it with them?!

I'm still having problems sleeping. Was reading in my bounty app the articles and the one about signs of Labour coming was about the sleep. If it's close then fine I'm ok with that but it better happen soon because I'm so freaking grumpy all the time with so little sleep. It doesn't help that I'm feeling uncomfortable and sick. And people still feelnlike phoning me. I think I'm just going to see if I can ignore phonecalls on my phone at all. Im going insane.

pippanippa · 09/11/2017 11:39

Oh twodrifters I hope everything works out ok, will be thinking of you!

Shehz21 · 09/11/2017 12:06

TwoDrifters Thinking of you and hoping everything is going fine with you!Flowers

Blue Triplets! Wow! I am sorry about the early loss though. Hope you are able to run your errands in town today without much trouble.

BlueButTrue · 09/11/2017 12:10

Sheh Thank you, myself and DH were in total shock. It was a natural conception too

My errands today are all about myself so can’t complain if they do make me tired/sore Grin

Treating myself to a hair cut and nails!

LucindaE · 09/11/2017 12:15

TwoDrifters As below, thinking of you. I hope it turns out for you as it has for others.
pippasnippa and others - thanks for wishes over OH. The cast at last comes off tomorrow.
BlueButTrue Goodness, triplets; while you must have been so sad about that loss, I gather that even women who don't get bad pregnancy sickness with a singleton tend to suffer very badly with triplets, so you would have been terribly ill. The pains sound encouraging. So they haven't gone off with the soak in the bath etc others suggested?
Waves to all.

Good afternoon all.
Our beautiful daughter was born on 7/11/17. She is utterly perfect.
I suffered throughout the whole pregnancy with HG. Many, many hospital admissions, steroid treatments, ondansetron and cyclizine throughout and now she is here and wonderful.
To those of you near the beginning, this was a point I never saw myself reaching. This pregnancy has been the hardest thing I have ever done but it is so worth it. I haven't posted a huge amount but have got so much support from reading this thread for the past 9months so thank you all.
I had a huge vomit whilst having our precious first moments together, then delivered the placenta and it was like a switch was finally turned off. No more nausea or vomits since- i feel a million dollars.
