I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.
MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk
If you need help in obtaining medication, phone them on:
024 7638 2020
Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy
I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.
Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Meadow Sorry to hear you suffer pre pregnancy.

It’s awful.

I’m with my nephew today (he’s 3 months old).

I had to remove myself from the room and have a cry to myself when he started crying. He’s got terrible reflux/colic.

I feel so so sympathetic for him. Poor little thing, and what’s worse is he hasn’t got the communication skills to say ‘sit me up’ or ‘I can’t face that’. Obviously his parents just position him best they can etc etc

DeadDoorpost · 04/11/2017 16:43

meadow inwas lucky and the meds im.on have worked well from week 14 properly so just out of 1st trimester. But I still have some horrible days dispersed throughout. Sadly I can't say I've not suffered since then as I have.

I briefly thought I was about to start having contractions because i had this realy sharp pain for a few seconds but nope. And Nothing since at all. His foot or something is also now under my left rib which is a first so he's shifting position again. Hopefully to go further down. I'm not dealing with him moving back to my hip.

DeadDoorpost · 04/11/2017 16:46

Scratch that- i had another pain just after i posted. I sure hope it's just BabyDoor getting into position coz DH is out of town until tonight. He can get here within an hour and a half though if needs be but still.

I'm going to shower. I need to ignore the pains.

Bunnyfluffy · 04/11/2017 17:43

Hi ladies just checking in to say I’m still here, still sick - although, dare I say it, maybe feeling slightly slightly better. Still been sick every day this week except one though.

12 week scan next week so hoping that will make me feel more excited / connected to baby

Mustang27 · 04/11/2017 17:56

Any more dead?

Your poor nephew blue.

Bunny I’m 33weeks 34 tomorrow and still feel foul

Natsku · 04/11/2017 18:15

Ooo Dead any more pains?

DeadDoorpost · 04/11/2017 18:42

Had a few but not for iver an hour. Keeping an eye on them though.

NerNerNerNerBATMAN · 04/11/2017 18:57

waves to bunnyfluffy glad you've checked in and you're feeling marginally better. I wondered how you were getting on as our due dates are practically identical.

I'm also feeling a teensy bit better - able to get out and about a bit more but still not ready to go back to work. Looking forward to my scan, just wish it was at 12 weeks instead of 13+2! Also hoping to feel more connected to baby, hope yours is positive for you.

DeadDoorpost · 04/11/2017 19:00

batman and bunny I really hope you get to enjoy the scans. I didn't feel connected at all at my 12 week one. But I was so ill that day and lost 3kg that day alone so it was pretty bad. The 20 week scan was much better and heloed DH as well.

Bunnyfluffy · 04/11/2017 19:20

Just had a massive bout of diarrhoea Sad

BlueButTrue · 04/11/2017 20:24

Dead Hope you get the outcome of those pains that you’re looking for Flowers

I can happily report nothing but heartburn today! That acid reflux seems to have gone... I’ve been eating, hoorayyy!

I’ve taken some Omoprazole and Renitine... Not sure how you spell that last one.

Although I did try and chance a sip of fresh orange juice and I could feel the acid sensation briefly... maybe best to not chance anything like that any time soon Grin

Still making appointment with GP though

MeadowHay · 04/11/2017 20:35

Bunny Ugh, sorry to hear that Sad. If you can stomach peppermint tea I find that really good for helping bowels after diarrhea (I have IBS pre-pregnancy so no stranger to the dreaded thing).

Blue Yeah, deffo see GP, you might just need a different medication that works better for you. Glad you're feeling better now.

I'm just reading the info on HG on the Pregnancy Sickness Support website. Does anyone use the forum there or just use this one? Also, it mentions hypnotherapy, has anyone here tried that to any success or lack of? I'm not really into that kind of thing but at this point I feel like I would try anything really Confused. Or acupressure? I've tried wearing my travel sickness bands for a few days and it had no impact. Only a few little vomits today which is pretty good, have kept some toast down and a few doughballs for my tea, so it's a 'good' day for me really, but it's kind of depressing to accept that because it's still so shit!

DeadDoorpost · 04/11/2017 20:41

blue how's everything for you? I'm hoping labour won't be too far off for me. I'm getting really impatient. DH on his way back home now though so can be kept company by him.
bunny any day you manage to keep something down I'd count as a success. Take it one day at a time. I still am even this far along. Sometimes even the small thibgs deserve to be celebrated when you're in this hell

DeadDoorpost · 04/11/2017 20:43

bunny sorry, got your messages mixed up. I'd prefer diarrhoea over constipation any day but I know how horrible it can be.
meadow read the previous message for bunny... it was meant for you. Got slightly distracted by DH texting saying he'd buy me more popcorn chicken 😍😍

LucindaE · 04/11/2017 21:10

Ooh, TwoDrifters Huge congratulations on new pregnancy. I bet eight months seemed a long time, but some people ttc for a year, and it's still within normal limits. I bet it was 'giving up' that made it happen! You've had such great advice about your worries about drinking wine in the early days - I'm another who did that, as I was on holiday - that I don't need to add anything. On pre-emptive meds, it seems there is a neurological side to vomiting, so it is best for your brain not to get into the constantly vomiting pattern, as I understand it. No wonder you are anxious. Flowers
Elephantgrey Sorry to hear you were admitted, but I am so glad you've got lots of meds, including anti acids. A lot of women on here when very dehydrated begin to be confused, and imagine they are not ill; that's very common.
BlueButTrue Sorry about horrible night and awful symptoms. 'Battery acid' is how I thought of it.
DeadDoorPost and OnNature'sCourse Sounds exciting. Oh dear DeadDoorPost you don't want to send for him too early, or too late...
Meadowhay I am sorry to say sometime between 14-21 weeks is typical for people to feel a lot better. The unlucky few, like Mustang suffer throughout, but almost never feel as bad as in the first tri.
seize Lol about 'gingered'/'fingered'.
Pippanippa Congratulations on 'going for a waddle'. 'A waddle when you walk...' Grin
Bunnyfluffy Oh dear. Sounds bad.
Justtheonethen I've heard that B6 can really increase the effectiveness of cyclizine, too.
Shehz Good advice.
Glad BATMAN and others are feeling a bit better.
Lookingforthecorkscrew I'll add you date! Meadowhay wasn't at the end for long!
Apologies to anyone rudely overlooked.

I meant to say, Natsku Brave of you to tackle a flight to the UK. Is the doctor against continuing the meds in late pregnancy?
And nobody needs to worry about tmi on here; no such thing!

Oklahoma · 04/11/2017 21:40

I’ve just read back through 3 pages and completely forgotten who said what!

Nature with Oklette I had mucus plug coming away for a few weeks before the birth and then when I was finally in labour I had a huge huge glob of mucus mixed with blood. Fingers crossed it is different for you!!

Drifters congratulations!! I would take the cyclizine now too. If you get HG the cyclizine will help but it’s unlikely you’ll feel totally normal so you’ll still know you have it. I started taking ondansetron and promethazine at 5 weeks, at which point I was nauseous but hadn’t yet started the full on vomiting. It definitely helped compared to last time but I still feel pretty horrendous most of the time. I have mostly managed to stay out of hospital this time. Crampy and loads of braxton hicks here too. Just want things to get a move on now. The second guessing is painful.

Sympathy and hugs to all!

OnNaturesCourse · 04/11/2017 22:23

Just a flying visit

How you doing Dead ?

I'm super excited for you!

OnNaturesCourse · 04/11/2017 22:26

Okla

I've had it coming away for weeeeks but last night was a tremendous volume in comparison to other days. It's been a bit gloopy today but still no blood etc, but does look slightly darker. I'm putting my back pain down to typical pregnancy now as it's achy again... Seems to be just a night time thing now.

DeadDoorpost · 04/11/2017 22:27

DH us now home, told him about the pins I had been having and we went over to Aldi to get more chicken popcorn. Came home and they've started again. So looks like I could be in for a long night if they continue. Either way, DH is out again tomorrow so if I need him urgently he'll be a maximum of an hour away at least so not too bad.

DeadDoorpost · 04/11/2017 22:28

That message is terrible and should say PAINS have started again not pins 😂😂

OnNaturesCourse · 04/11/2017 22:51

I'm hoping the pains either ease off or became very obviously labor for you in the next few hours. At then you'll settle if DP does need to go. I'm lucky in the sense my DP works less than 5 minutes away.

He does have a over night hospital stay 9 days before my due date though, and my secondary birthing partner choice is on holiday then too. Hospital is about 40 minutes away in the car, and the car will be with DP. I'm hoping baby is either here by then or making it quite clear they are staying put. Right now they are putting out all sort of mixed signals!

I started orally taking Evening Primrose Oil tonight to hopefully make labor smoother when it does eventually start!

DeadDoorpost · 04/11/2017 23:06

nature we're a 5 minute drive if that to the birthing centre and a 20 minute walk if I really felt like pushing my luck 😂 DH works about 30 mins away on the train but less than that in the car I believe? He doesn't drive. We've got friends who are taking us there and bringing us back. They live just up the road from us so can get here very quickly.
Pain seems to have stopped again for the moment but I'm interested to see what happens tomorrow. Both Nan and Mum had short labours and nan had very little pain so hopefully I'll take after them. Seem to have done so with the HG at least...

OnNaturesCourse · 04/11/2017 23:10

Perhaps you'll be like your Nan! I recently read a article about a woman who had no idea she was in labor, and only caught on when she went for what she thought was a bowel movement and felt things expanding/burning down there. Couple of pushes and baby arrived healthy!

DeadDoorpost · 05/11/2017 00:19

Yeah my dad knew a woman who didn't even know she was pregnant until he went into labour in a store. We also have a family friend who was telling me she had no pain or anything so had to go on purely her blood pressure rising to indicate she was close to labour. Genuinely had no contractions or pain.
