Old wives tale

Is there any truth - anecdotally speaking - to the old wives tale that you get more severe sickness etc if you're carrying a girl?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
DramaAlpaca · 17/10/2017 22:43

I don't reckon so. I had horrendous sickness with each of my three pregnancies, and each time I was carrying a boy. It started earlier and lasted longer with each pregnancy too.

Sharl2017 · 17/10/2017 22:44

I've never heard it but dare say it's wrong from the amount of sicky pregnancies I know about where they had boys lol

ijustwannadance · 17/10/2017 22:44

It a load of old bollocks. It depends on how your body reacts to pregnancy and every one is different.

I had non with either pregnancy. Both girls.

GlitteryFluff · 17/10/2017 23:02

I had sickness at least once a day for about 8 weeks with DS.
Pregnant with a girl now (NHS scan plus private scan to double check) and I've had no sickness at all and I'm 28 weeks tomorrow.
So I think it's rubbish.

PodgeBod · 17/10/2017 23:08

I had very little and had two girls.

DeadDoorpost · 17/10/2017 23:37

Horrendous sickness here and having a boy. Also most of the old wives tales for having a girl have happened to me and BabyDoor is most definitely a boy. Could got have got a clearer picture of his testicles at the scan. Sonographer came across them straight away he seems to have been totally happy to show them off to us.

I never had any sickness at all and I have a DD & DS

123rd · 18/10/2017 00:04

( did have horrendous heart burn with both though... and they both popped out quite hairy!!)

Oysterbabe · 18/10/2017 07:06

It hasn't been true for me. I feel much worse this time than last time. I had a girl first and now having a boy.

4thtime · 18/10/2017 07:50

Three girls here and not once did I get morning sickness

louiserachael · 19/10/2017 12:03

No I’m having a boy and still was sick every day - still now!

Lozmatoz · 19/10/2017 13:26

I was more ill with my daughter, but there are loads of other reasons this could have been due to. I was a couple of years older, I had another child to look after instead of just myself.

Doublechocolatetiffin · 19/10/2017 13:38

I didn’t even have a hint of nausea with my DD so I’d say it’s rubbish!

eeanne · 19/10/2017 13:46

Two girls and and never actually was sick once! Nausea and aversion to food but that's it. And it was worse with my first. No correlation I think.

justdontevenfuckingstart · 19/10/2017 13:48

Every old wives tale is rubbish, every pregnancy, conception and labour is different.
But I did have lemon addiction with both of my girls!
