Hello all

I will be starting a new job at the same company in January, by then I'll be 20 weeks (hopefully!).

I would like to wait at least a few weeks into the role to officially disclose.

My question is when did you start to show? I'm particularly interested in what taller ladies have found (I'm 5,8). I'm Norbert very fit though and a bit of a flabby tummy to start with! So I'm worried Confused

Thanks!

Is this your first? It very much depends on how many babies you've had and your body type generally and how much weight you're gaining. I'm on my 2nd, but I was in normal clothes until 16 weeks and did not look pregnant and then suddenly overnight I looked very pregnant. I'm of average build (not skinny, but not obese either) and I'm 5'9. There's no way I could hide it. Even though I've only gained about 5lbs. I would think it's likely that by 20 weeks you will be showing. You might be able to get creative with your outfit choices and how it off for a week or two, but it just depends on your body, which is so individual.

DeadDoorpost · 13/10/2017 13:48

I'm 5'9 and had a bit of a stomach, didn't start showing much until 20 weeks but even then it was party due to my posture as I slouch a lot anyway. I'm now 34+5 and can breathe in and make myself look about 22 weeks though... baby seems to like sitting right inside at the back. It's my favourite thing to do to wind people up...

Hiraeth17 · 13/10/2017 14:32

Thanks :) It's my first.

I think I might start swimming to try and build muscle tone and keep it in! 😂

I'm 5ft 8, didnt start showing at all to anyone other than me/husband/mum until about 26-30 weeks, was only asked once by a stranger when I was due and that was at 34 weeks, ds was born at 37. Pregnant with dc2 now, 35 weeks, probably started showing at about 20-24 weeks.

I showed early, but suspect it’s more related to hip size than height. I’m slim hipped (and flat chested!) and def showed far earlier than any of my curvier friends.

TillyTheTiger · 13/10/2017 16:33

I'm 5'9", I didn't announce my pregnancy at work until I was about 22 weeks. Winter is your friend - layers, loose cardigans and scarves mean you can get away with it for way longer than in Summer

smu06set · 13/10/2017 16:41

I'm 5'8 and not intending to announce to work until the start of Jan when I'll be 21weeks. Scarves and loose tops are your friend! I didn't show until 20 weeks with DS1 so hoping the same with this one!

I'm 5'9, I didn't announce to work til 21 weeks, and I didn't have to move into bigger/maternity clothes til about 24/25.

So you could be fine! Even after that, a well placed scarf or blazer hid it for a while

Doggoslothlady · 13/10/2017 16:59

I am 5'8 and started showing properly at 25 weeks !

Aria2015 · 13/10/2017 17:10

I’m 5.9” and this was me at 22 weeks - still very easy to hide the bump at this stage. I was about 28 weeks when a more obvious bump appeared. When you’re tall the baby has more room and so the bump is often less prominent. Even at full term I still wasn’t huge - I have a very long torso! Lol!

Strokethefurrywall · 13/10/2017 18:48

I'm 5ft 8" and with DS1 didn't start to get a bump until about 22 weeks. Went into maternity clothes at about 28-29 weeks.

With DS2 I think I put on maternity clothes at 16 weeks because nobody told me how bloody comfortable they were when I was pregnant with DS1 Smile Think I started showing with him around 18-20 weeks. But everyone knew I was pregnant with him anyway because I ate the world during my first 16 weeks of pregnancy. Hard to hide when you're a sweaty nauseated mess valiantly stuffing your face with french fries and garlic bread at the same time.

danTDM · 13/10/2017 18:57

5'10'' and people were shocked when I had a baby!

Never really looked pregnant. Far fatter now. (47)

Peony24 · 13/10/2017 20:28

I'm 5'11 and started showing to strangers this week! 26 weeks tomorrow. But DH, parents could tell at 18 weeks I had a bump 😊

Cat1980uk · 13/10/2017 21:01

I'm 5ft 9 and started to show around 20 weeks but obvious pregnant by around 24 weeks. Now almost 38 weeks and look like a football up my top as all bump lol

AliciaMayEmory · 13/10/2017 21:05

I'm 5'10" and when I turned up for my 20 week scan, they asked if I had my dates wrong as I was hardly showing and still in my normal clothes. (the baby was normal size, just had more room to stretch out!). I started properly showing at about 7 months and after that it all grew pretty quickly. With my second I showed a little earlier, but still not much and easily hidden under till about 23/24 weeks.

Orangedaisy · 13/10/2017 21:07

5'10, with both DDs I could easily hide it at 20 weeks. DD1 didn't turn into proper bump til way past 25 weeks, DD2 was suddenly proper bump by 22 weeks, felt like I was visibly pregnant overnight.

Hiraeth17 · 14/10/2017 15:24

Thanks all :)

I'm a FTM -and started to show around 10 weeks. Mostly bloat I think but def had a bump but 12 weeks.

lollipop7 · 15/10/2017 22:52

I'm just under 5ft 10
With my first about 16 weeks I was a size 8 then 🤣
With my second about seven weeks I was a size 14
With my third around six weeks I was a small size twelve.

CL1982 · 15/10/2017 23:30

P.s should say I'm 6 foot and have a very definite bump! I don't think height makes a difference....

Grumpyoldwoman007 · 15/10/2017 23:34

5'10" and started to show at around 16 weeks with my first
