I had the propels pessary around 1:50 early hours this morning. I've been have tightening since about 8 am but I'm just curious how long it took from induction to baby for everybody

1st induction: pessary 12 noon, waters break naturally 5am following morning, then lengthy process (drip/epidural/slow dilation) eventually baby born 2.45am follow morning - no intervention.

2nd induction: pessary 12 noon, intense contractions almost instantly, eventually taken to labour ward 7am following morning, baby born 55 minutes later, just gas and air.

From pessary to baby it took me 47 hours, good luck x

TheLegendOfBeans · 05/10/2017 14:20

From pessary to baby: 100 hours.

I am the anomaly; most times the first one will get you going in 24-48 hours.

0to3SadOnions · 05/10/2017 14:21

Pessary to baby 16 hours but was only in active labour for 45 minutes.

MummyMrsMe · 05/10/2017 21:06

My induction was with the gel, it took three attempts and eventually the consultant broke my waters and put me on a drip. Took over 36 hours to get going properly but once my contractions eventually started to become regular actual labour only took a couple of hours. Good luck x

I didn't have a pessary just waters broken (which did nothing) then straight onto the drip. From first contraction to baby being born was 2 hours 20 minutes. This is not very usual though I don't think!

MadeinBelfast · 05/10/2017 21:10

About 8 hours. It seemed like forever at the time but reading these makes it sound like it was pretty quick!

Scoleah · 05/10/2017 21:13

4 days. did bugger all and I had a c section on day 4. Fingers crossed its a bit faster for you OP!

Cracklesfire · 05/10/2017 21:38

Pessary 9am, labour started 5pm (ish) and DS born 8 hours later so 16 hours from start to finish

SockQueen · 05/10/2017 22:12

Pessary to baby in 12 hours, no extra interventions. I hyperstimulated so they actually removed the pessary, but contractions continued, didn't need to have waters broken or go on drip. They aren't all like that though!

Shesaysso · 05/10/2017 22:14

3.5 days here - wishing you a speedy one

BelafonteRavenclaw · 05/10/2017 22:15

16 hrs from Pessary to baby. Good luck

travelmad · 05/10/2017 22:17

DS1 - from pessary to baby was 3h 45m (at 36w)
DS2 - from pessary to baby was 14h (at 38w)

Two identical inductions, two very different labours

SwishswishBiTCH · 05/10/2017 22:20

Pessasary given on the Wednesday 23rd, dialated me to 3cm. Had to wait 3 days for a bed HmmEnvy

Once on Labour ward, waters popped at 12.24AM nothing started off so fit out in the drip at 4.30AM . Baby was here at 5.55 AM 27th AUG.

I must admit ds2 birth with the drip was so so much easier and defijitley less painful than ds1 with pessasary alone. That seemed to over stimulate me first time. Yet with DS2 pessasary only dialated me but didn't send me into labour HmmHmm

Good luck hope you have a baby soon OP.

DuggeeHugs · 05/10/2017 22:43

Induction began on 39+2 and ended with EMCS on 40+0 because DS just couldn't be persuaded to leave voluntarily.

Hope all goes well for you Smile

elliejjtiny · 05/10/2017 23:22

Drip at 9pm, baby born at 1:53am by emcs. So nearly 5 hours.

Mummy2be19 · 06/10/2017 01:32

Ahhh I wish he would come out! 24 hours waiting and contractions seem to have slowed down :(

First pessary at 10am sat morning, on and off contractions
Second one mid morning Sunday, on and off contractions continued
Broke my waters 5.30pm Monday, no change
9pm started the drip which worked too quickly
Started pushing around 5ish on Tuesday, born by EMCS at 7pm Tuesday

Long, drawn out process for me I’m afraid, one I never wish to repeat!

Rainycity · 06/10/2017 08:50

Midwife told me to expect to be there for two days; took 10.5 hours. First gel at 6pm Sunday night, had second gel four hours later and had hind waters broken - that’s when things really started happening - baby born 4.10am next morning. It was intense! No active pushing, just really strong contractions. I had to inform the midwife that I was crowning. Baby born moments later. All the best!

Kintan · 06/10/2017 08:50

2.5 days and would have been longer if not for an EMCS. It's a process I wouldn't want to repeat either!

Kintan · 06/10/2017 08:53

PS good luck, hope it's all straightforward for you ;)

sthitch · 06/10/2017 09:27

Gel at 8am, waters broken at 8pm, drip at 3am and baby born the following day at 3pm- no sleep throughout, very draining but baby arrived safely!

NoSleepSinceSpring · 06/10/2017 09:34

3 days. Then an EMCS. Never again! Doesn't always happen that way though. Can be much quicker. Hope it's much quicker for you OP.
