Pregnancy or Ectopic?? So confused!!!

Hiya,

I’m so confused and need help.My periods are always regular and heavy however I have now missed two periods which has never happened.
I took a digital pregnancy test about three weeks ago that gave me a positive and I’ve recently took ten more which have now given me negatives. But something doesn’t feel right. I haven’t came on my period, eating has become problem where I constantly feel sick and I’ve put weight on which I’m not sure why, I’ve not been eating any differently and I am always tired.
I thought nothing of it however yesterday I had a horrible pain on the side of my stomach. Nothing excruciating but it hurt to stand up and even breathe sometimes. About a week ago, I had a spell that I have never experienced before, I went faint and nearly passed out. My boyfriend said my eyes went glazed and sweat was dripping off my face and I was boiling hot. I couldn’t even stand and had a moment where I forgot where I was. That whole day I didn’t feel great almost faint and dizzy. I’ve been feeling quite dizzy recently.
I again thought nothing of it until my mum today told me my relative had an Ectopic pregnancy and sounds similar.

However would the negative test show this?

Thanks everyone x

I believe an ectopic pregnancy would still give a positive test as it detects the pregnancy hormone in your urine.

I think you need to go and see your GP to discuss your symptoms.

TroutySnouts · 30/09/2017 21:48

Are you still getting pain in your side? Could you ring 111 and see if they can get you about of hours appointment?
If not, would see your go asap tomorrow as if it is an ectopic pregnancy you should get seen as quickly as possible

IStoleThisUsername · 30/09/2017 21:50

Alibobbob is correct - you will still get a + hpt with ectopic pregnancy.

When you say pain in your stomach do you mean your actual stomach or lower down where your uterus is?

IStoleThisUsername · 30/09/2017 21:51

Also if you have missed 2 periods that would put you at around 10 weeks pregnant - an ectopic would almost certainly have made itself known before then.

Courtnie · 30/09/2017 21:51

Hiya Alibobbob,

I’ve been to the doctors who just advised me she thinks it’s my hormones but it just doesn’t feel like it and was more bothered about sticking me on contraception which I said if I’m unsure on me being pregnant then how does that work. I’m scared to go back to go and hassle her but it’s driving me crazy and the pain isn’t reassuring either x

Hi IStoleThisUsername,

On the right side by my pelvic area. Being ten weeks surely wouldn’t I be having positives?

OP posts:
Courtnie · 30/09/2017 21:55

HI TroutySnouts,

It comes and goes not constant and not a excruciating pain but it’s quite painful

OP posts:
TeaandHobnobs · 30/09/2017 21:59

Could the pain be being caused by an ovarian cyst maybe? The pain you describe is what I felt when I had a corpus luteum.
I'd see a different doctor tbh.

Courtnie · 30/09/2017 22:02

Hi TeaandHobnobs,

I’m not really sure, my head seems to be whirling with what it could be. What pain did you have?

OP posts:
IStoleThisUsername · 30/09/2017 22:13

Could you self refer to you local early pregnancy unit for a scan? Depending on what trust you're under you don't always need a gp referral.

IStoleThisUsername · 30/09/2017 22:15

Tbh if you call 111 they would most likely tell you to go to A+E, is the pain bad enough that you think you need to see a doctor urgently?

Courtnie · 30/09/2017 22:22

I wouldn’t say the pain is the bad nor is it that constant so I think I’d feel abit silly if I went. As for the early pregnancy unit would they allow me seen as I’m not 100% I’m pregnant? I’m just really nervous of people looking at me like I’m stupid and not understanding why I’m asking for help but my body just feels not right x

Loosemoose28 · 30/09/2017 22:40

When did you last pee on a stick?

My cysts and my ectopic felt very similar. However my friend who had a ruptured ectopic had one faint positive and then a week of negative tests. A&E said her test was positive when she went in when it ruptured. So don't rely on tests at the moment.

Think you need to see a doctor and if your GP is not listening then maybe A&E

Courtnie · 30/09/2017 22:55

Hiya LooseMoose28,

It was a week ago which again came back negative which I’m not understanding because surely I would of had positives by now? Was she in a lot of pain, I know I’m also needing a wee a lot more frequently as well which shows as symptoms

OP posts:
Loosemoose28 · 30/09/2017 23:12

Only in pain when it ruptured. Mine burnt /
Niggled for 24hrs before rupturing.

Please be seen OP.

Alibobbob · 01/10/2017 00:41

I think you need to go back to see your G P. What tests did she order? Why does she think it's your hormones?

She probably wants to put you on the pill to regulate your periods.

If you are having pain why not go to a walk in centre? They may conduct more tests and you might get some answers.

Courtnie · 01/10/2017 02:26

She didn’t order any tests, just a pregnancy test that came back negative and then advised me it was more than likely a false positive and that it’s my hormones that are affecting my periods. Which to me didn’t make sense because they are always regular and have never been late or missed. Then she moved onto the topic of the pill, I told her that how can I take the pill if I’m unsure of being pregnant and she said the pill will give you the same kind of symptoms so it would be hard to tell whether they are pill or pregnancy symptoms so not much there. She asked me whether my periods are regular which I told her they are always bang on date but like I said she seemed more concerned about contraception.

I can go to walk in but im just worried they are going to write me off and think I’m stupid seen as I’m not certain I am pregnant and the pain isn’t always happening. It comes and goes.

Water infection? Thrush? BV? Have you tried solving these and then seeing what happens? You could be having a hormonal issue ( I’m not medical so couldn’t give you actual terms) which mean you’ve skipped periods and the positive could’ve been false. I know I’ve had similar pains with a water infection and it’s made me pee loads (or want to pee) x

IfeelFloopy · 01/10/2017 08:06

OP you have every right to go back to your GP about this issue. I would not be happy about missing 2 periods, and having pain that went with it too.

When I went to my GP saying I had one sided pain after sex once that doubled me over he sent me straight off for a scan and then when it came back clear he sent me for laparoscopy to check for endometriosis. Obviously that's not what I'm suggesting the issue is, however I would not be happy with the pain and episode you described, it's simply not normal and you have every right to tests to get to the bottom of it.

Please go back to your GP and if you have the option, see a different doctor.

4thtime · 01/10/2017 09:29

Which digital test did you do? If it was an Asda digital they are notorious for false positives, as for the pain I'd go back to doctors

peachgreen · 01/10/2017 12:26

These were all the symptoms I had when I had a large ovarian cyst - including needing to pee more often, delayed/missed periods, pain, fainting etc. Definitely go back to your GP and if she’s still no help, get a second opinion.

Courtnie · 01/10/2017 13:21

HI ladies,

Thanks for all your help. I’m going to book an appointment at my doctors seen as the pain is becoming more frequent and some times it’s making me cry due to how bad it’s getting.

I took a first response one, I have took the Asda but they came back with negatives along with the clear blue ones x

blondielocks29 · 01/10/2017 15:18

If the pain is getting so bad that it's making you cry I would definitely ring 111 or take a trip to an out of hours clinic to be on the safe side x

Bratsandtwats · 01/10/2017 15:57

Please ring 111 or take yourself to A&E. You need medical advice.

Courtnie · 01/10/2017 22:19

Hi everyone,

Thanks for all your help. I rang 111 and they advised me to go to a&e. I’ve been there for seven hours. They either think it’s an ectopic pregnancy or it’s a cyst on my ovaries ready to rupture. I have a scan tomorrow so fingers crossed I might get some answers
