Hi everyone,

6 weeks pregnant and been having some spotting. Tomorrow being sent to epu for an early scan to see what's going on. Very very nervous! Anybody else had a bit of spotting (and mucus looking gloop) early on and not miscarried?

My friend had this twice throughout and bled three times. I know it makes no difference saying that it can be fine and I know you'll still be worried but try to remain positive because it could be nothing! Good luck Flowers

I had more than spotting at 7 weeks- brown blood that turned into red blood (sorry tmi). Had a scan booked at EPU within less than 24 hours of calling GP for "threatened abortion" ... lovely term! ... and I'm now incredibly uncomfortable at 38.5 weeks pregnant! I think from the gist I gathered if you've got bleeding but no accompanying pain that tends to bode well. My SiL also had bleeding throughout pregnancy with her second child and that ended well too 😊 Best of luck for your scan OP x

Manctart · 26/09/2017 21:23

I have a scan at the EPU tomorrow for the same thing, so nervous! Hope it goes well for you x

I've bled at 6 weeks with both pregnancies. One was a miscarriage and one was not! Currently 25 weeks and I bled brown / pink gloop for a week around 6 weeks

I had severe bleeding at about 10 weeks. Had to sleep on a towel and was convinced I was having a miscarriage. Phoned my midwife to be told there was nothing they could do and if it was going to happen they couldn't do anything to stop it. I had to wait 2 weeks for my 12 week scan and had prepared myself for bad news. Turns out it was fine!! Healthy baby, no explanation given. My baby girl turned 5 last week 😍

MyEternalSunshine · 26/09/2017 21:33

My first pregnancy was fine with no bleeding- then two pregnancies with spotting that I miscarried, then my fourth pregnancy I spotted again and expected the worst but was fine- I'm cuddling her right now! Very best of luck OP it's a terribly stressful experience Flowers

kitscout · 26/09/2017 21:33

I had red blood at 10 weeks, put on bed rest for "threatened miscarriage" until they could do a scan a few days later. all turned out ok and my son is almost 2 now! good luck 🤞🏼

RedBlackberries · 26/09/2017 21:35

I've had spotting both times and it's been harmless. And all kinds of weird discharge as well. Fingers x for you

strangestdirection · 26/09/2017 21:36

I had severe bleeding at 5, 8, 10 and 14 weeks with my younger daughter. Was terrible- so much blood and I had already had a daughter with not so much as a bit of spotting so I was convinced it was going to end in miscarriage. It just cleared up circa 15 weeks ....Never any explaination found. She was born at full term totally fine and is a bonny and cheeky 1yo now.

1000jobstodo · 26/09/2017 21:52

Yes. I had this at 6 weeks in both pregnancies. This one was really heavy and I assumed the worst. The epu told me 4 days (4 long days) later that all was fine. I'm now 15 weeks and they're kicking away.
It very much can be normal and not mean the worst

McTootBlowsOnHisBagpipe · 26/09/2017 22:07

With ds3 I bled so heavily that I thought it was my period. So much so that I didn't find out I was pregnant until 16 weeks as I had no reason to test as I thought I was having my period. He's now 6!

SnowiestMountain · 26/09/2017 22:08

I had red blood at 6/8/9/12/13 & 32 weeks with DS, he's 6 now, absolute nightmare!

LadyPug · 26/09/2017 22:10

Thank you everyone, this is great to know! So good to know others have had similar but it's all ended up ok. Feel a bit sick with fear :-(

I had a 'threatened miscarriage' on the way to a wedding last August and ended up in EPU... they couldn't scan me for two further days as it was the weekend so I had the same wait as you.

My bouncing girl has just howled her head off for a cuddle during Bake Off. The bleeding can be the baby embedding itself in your womb.

I know very well that pregnancies don't always work out but I hope they do for you too FlowersFlowersFlowers

scottishem · 26/09/2017 22:50

I had some light pink/light brown spotting at 10 weeks and convinced myself something was wrong but everything was fine! Had my 12 week about a week later and baby was bouncing around! Smile sending you a big hug and hand hold xxx

MeganChips · 26/09/2017 23:02

I had light bleeding all through my first trimester with DC2. I had had a previous miscarriage so assumed the worst too.

Everything was fine though, they thought he had implanted into a blood vessel apparently. He's now 10 Smile

Fingers crossed for you OP.

Bleeding with both pregnancies here. My first is a year old and I'm currently 18 weeks pregnant. I also had horrendous cramps with them both, so bleeding accompanied with pain doesn't always mean the worst. Good luck tomorrow x

CL1982 · 27/09/2017 08:45

I hope the scan goes well OP...

LadyPug · 27/09/2017 09:54

Thank you, on way to hospital now, nervous, feel sick, barely slept :-(

OP posts:
LadyPug · 27/09/2017 09:54

How did it go @LadyPug Flowers

Manctart · 27/09/2017 11:46

Thank you LadyPug how did it go for you? Hope it was reassuring!!

I'm not really very hopeful after this morning - my last period would put me at nearly 7 weeks but my hcg and scans only at around 4/5. They said not to worry and I have to go back next week for another scan but I am pretty gutted already 😔

Expectingbsbunumber2 · 27/09/2017 12:05

Spotting can be normal in early pregnancy but again best to get checked if worried. I didn't have any spotting in the first trimester
