Hi everyone,

6 weeks pregnant and been having some spotting. Tomorrow being sent to epu for an early scan to see what's going on. Very very nervous! Anybody else had a bit of spotting (and mucus looking gloop) early on and not miscarried?

Hope all turned out okay for you. Yes, spotting and bleeding can be perfectly normal in early pregnancy. With my daughter, I had heavy gushing bleeding at around 10 weeks. It was literally running down my legs. No obvious cause (though midwife said she suspected it was just a popped blood vessel on my cervix) and I had an otherwise straightforward and healthy pregnancy.

I'm 20 weeks pregnant now with our 2nd (had a mc in between) and I had about 2 weeks of spotting from 7-9 weeks with this one, including about 3 days of fairly heavy ish bleeding. Still all fine. I had 2 scans around that time and both were completely normal, with no sign of anything of concern. With my mc, I had a small amount of spotting which led to nothing and no actual bleeding (eventually needed surgery). So definitely in my experience, I had much more bleeding in my healthy pregnancies than I ever did with a mc.

It's very, very normal. It's most likely from your cervix, which can be extra irritable in pregnancy. Hope everything turned out okay at your scan.

Hi everyone! I'm ok! Baby is there and all is fine. Only measuring 5 ish weeks and I'm 6 but they said too difficult to tell size at this stage. It's good news though!

manctart don't worry, they aren't sure about this stuff until further on which is why dating scan happens at 12 weeks!

Brilliant news LadyPug, really happy for you.

And she's right Manctart, my scan at 7 weeks for bleeding put me 1.5 weeks behind what I thought I was, at that stage they're working with tenths of a millimetre so as you can imagine the tiniest inaccuracy in measurement will change the date by quite some way. My estimated due date settled between the two at my 12 week scan. Fingers crossed for you next week.

I was put at 5+6 at early scan, at dating scan they brought me forward 6 days..meaning I was actually 6+5 when I had that scan. It's soooo tiny, don't rely on that at all

Really happy for you ☺️ Glad it was reassuring!

Ok thank you I will try not to worry too much. Will step away from Google!!!

Might have spoken too soon here! Blood is now coming out a bit more and is red :-( midwife said just wait and see, nothing I can do. Got to trust fate I guess.

Keep those fingers crossed ladypug, I should probably add that I also had more bleeding the afternoon after my scan and at that point they advised me to wait until the 12 week scan or call back if it got heavier or painful (I called out of hours as it typically started just after 5:30pm).

Thanks mummabubs that makes me feel more hopeful!

Don't know if I'm out of the woods yet but I spotted every day for several weeks. I am now 12 weeks and things are looking good so far. Best of luck to you x

Thank you HarryHarry
