C section date given?

Hi there.
I am 36 weeks plus 5 days and today I have been seen a consultant and both agreed on a c section.
She told me I would be phoned and told a date two days before!
Does anybody know if this is correct or will it be sooner? I'm desperate to know the date so I can plan my life a little and also get very excited about the day!!!!!
I've read a few other posts saying the got the date at 32-36 weeks. Obviously I've had mine planned a lot later.
Just want people to tell me when they got there's and if anybody had there date given two days before?

Mine was agreed at my 12 week appointment with the consultant and given to me on the spot, but I am not allowed to go into labour at all so maybe that's why?

Oh and if anybody can tell me who actually gave you your appointment. Because if I phone to see if I can get a date sooner I have no idea who I actually phone? Is it the antenatal clinic?

I haven't had it yet - it's 19th October when I'll be 39+6. I've had a few potential complications and I can't go over my due date so maybe that's why mine was all sorted well in advance.

19th October is my actual due date! ☺️ Good luck with it. Hopefully I get my appointment sooner than two days before. Maybe I'll ring my midwife tomorrow and nag abit to get an actual date xxx

Good luck! I'd actually prefer a VBAC, but I went to 42 weeks with DS so fully expecting to have the section on 19th!

DC1 was an ELCS. I was booked in and given the date there and then when it was confirmed I was likely to require one (she was breech so if she was found to have turned on op day I'd have been sent home). I was 37 weeks when they booked me and 39+5 when I had her.

I was given a date when I went to my Consultant appointment at 38 weeks. The date was for 39 weeks. They usually give you a date prior to your EDD as they don’t want to risk you going in to labour beforehand.

Sounds normal to me. It'll usually be in week 39 on a weekday (not weekend or bank holiday)

Mine was booked after a failed ECV. I was given a date as close to 39 weeks as possible, in the end 39+2 to avoid Sunday and a bank holiday Monday

Does anybody know who I can call to try push on a date. It would be ideal for me
To know as my parents can book their flights partner can book it off work as they don't let maternity start til baby has been born. And also child care for my daughter. I don't want to annoy them but because they've listed my c section as "maternal request" I don't want it to be pushed back and forgotten about. Because I really get the feeling they don't like giving c sections

Personally I wouldn't push them. 39 weeks is safest unless there's a medical reason to do it earlier. Ask your midwife or consultant at your next appointment.
If you look at a calendar of when you are 39 weeks it'll be a weekday that week so your family can plan based on that.
Of course even if you are given a date you might go into labour before that date or it might be pushed back due to emergencies on the day.

I was booked in and got my date for a section the day we agreed it with the consultant. They did call me a week before though to bring it forward by two days though.

I don't want to change it to before 39 weeks. I just worry as it could be 12th October or 19th October. My partner can not tell his employer two days before that he will be off work! We need to let them know this week.
Just had a call from midwife, my local Hospital basically call you a few days before to come in for your pre op! Which is a shame I won't know until day before!! Crazy! With a 5 year old to sort out, but 39 weeks is a Thursday and Thursday Monday and Tuesday are their c section days so she said it'll either be 12th October or the following Monday Tuesday!

Does he not work in the UK and get paternity leave? I know you'd like to have it planned but paternity leave usually starts an at unplanned date. DS was born at 35 weeks and DHs work were expecting him to be off over a month later! Also he could book annual leave or use shared parental leave if you qualify?

What I'm going to do is just get him to book from 39 weeks onwards off
( that week)
And then start his paternity leave directly after that! I'm just being impatient 🙈 It's just so exciting knowing the day I get to meet my baby, and also mentally preparing for it!

He will have to take leave as you are not allowed
Go take paternity leave until baby is officially born, fingers crossed his employers say he can have it off

I am a midwife and this is a genius idea which I am going to suggest at work. The alternative is the system at my hospital - you are given a date but run the risk of sitting starved all day and being bumped. If there was more flexibility it would be much easier to ensure there were only 3 electives a day in general and 1 or 2 only when short of doctors. It really does sound like a good system.

Even if you're given a date it may change. I was told on the Friday that they wanted to do a c section on the Monday (i'd been planning a VBAC up til then) but that got pushed to Wednesday because there were no spaces. Then after waiting for hours on the Wed there were emergencies so i got bumped to Thursday.

I'm confused as to why there's an issue with paternity leave though, unless you get bumped like I was. Then my husband did have to use leave for the day the c section didn't happen. He'd start his paternity leave the day you had the c section. Giving a couple of days notice would be more than his employer would get for a normal delivery.

I went to see the consultant about mine at around 30 weeks and got a date there and then. No life threatening reason, more to avoid continence issues later on so not particularly necessary as such. My consultant wasn't anti c section though which it seems most are from what I have read.

Not sure, 1st birth was an emergency C-section, so subsequent births had C-S planned for the day after my due date, never needed them as I went into labour early every time.

I would assume that as a non emergency you would be scheduled in, but may not go in as planned if emergency C-S were happening iyswim.

I would assume it will be the Thursday that you are 39 weeks.

What would your partner do if you go into spontaneous labour beforehand if he cannot finish work without more notice than two days? Do you have another birth partner as a back up and somebody else to look after your child?
