Subchorionic haemorrhage

So last week I was diagnosed with a subchorionic haemorrhage at 7 weeks pregnant, I've been bleeding for 3 weeks with small clots and no pain. I was discharged from the EPU and they said I'll bleed it out or it will reabsorb and no follow up was organised.

Well, in June I had a mmc so I'm obviously very anxious but also quite upset they've sent me away bleeding with no plans to follow me up despite knowing my history. It would kill me to find out my baby has passed away at my 12 week scan again.

If I called the GP and asked to be re-referred, do you think they would? Surely bleeding should be kept an eye on anyway?

Firstly congratulations. Smile
Can't offer any advice about being referred but Could you arrange a private scan ? I had a couple in between to put my mind at rest. I had an MMC so I know how you feel that fear never goes does it.
I've had numerous bleeds this time and have felt like I'm on a rollercoaster at times. 22 weeks now but still worrying!
Hope everything goes well for you.

Thank you, congratulations too!

I would happily pay private for a scan, but I just feel like I need a follow up at the very least. Plus I could imagine finding out at a paid scan even more distressing 😔 I'm expecting a GP call back today, if they won't refer, I will pay for one.

Thank you for the reply, I've just tried to make my booking appt with the midwife so hopefully they will refer me.

I called the GP who essentially told me to just self refer back to epu if I'm still bleeding next week so I've booked myself in for a private scan on Thursday for my own sanity.

I'm not usually an anxious person so was never expecting to feel like this.

I had this on my last baby. Bled very heavily initially with clots etc. Was sure I lost him but he was fine. Bled for weeks , cant remember how many. But all was fine. Try not worry too much Flowers

I also had this- was told to just take it really easy - absolute pelvic rest! I didn't have any bleeding (though my Ob told me it would be totally normal if I did). Was gone completely by the 12wk scan.

Hi Steeley,

Another poster started this thread a few days back- hopefully you'll find some of the comments on there reassuring:

I was diagnosed with a SCH at 9 weeks after a bleed. I've had a MMC too so was also very anxious. Had my 12 week scan today and the clot is still there but the sonographer wasn't concerned. All the medical professionals I've spoken to have implied it's more common that I first thought.

Hope your scan goes well x
