Tension headaches bleugh. Been given some brufen gel as can't really have anything else. He also suggested a head and neck and Shoulder massage

CL1982 · 23/08/2017 19:06

Oh @mummyGof2boys Sounds horrible :( I'm having cramps which I'm not liking at all. Headaches are horrible. I get them now and again....

Not moany @CL1982 - and anyway, having a bit of a mean/ vent/ offload is part of what this group is for! My colleagues at work think that DH and I had a short city break in Switzerland then a staycation, that I've started wearing more scarves and that I must be busy with hearings because I've been in less often.

This group means I can tell strangers on the internet what has actually been going on, to share hopes and fears and to sanity check with people who have either done it before or haven't had the easiest ride getting here.

And, even though pregnancy is brilliant, amazing and what lots of us have hankered after for ages, it can have its less than pleasant moments.

SS81C · 23/08/2017 20:19

Ditto what Blue says....
Its lovely having somewhere safe to write down fears and worries and random symptoms....

FairfaxAikman · 23/08/2017 20:35

Six weeks tomorrow and still don't feel pregnant. Odd cramp but nothing unmanageable. Boobs no longer sore, no sickness. Heart rate has dropped from 71 to 64 now - still higher than previous non-preg RHB but going down all the time.

Half tempted to try another orgasm because even though it was agony it was different (and therefore a little reassuring).

My first appointment isn't till mid September. And I have no idea what to expect at it (sod all info online)

SS81C · 23/08/2017 21:41

@fairfax....i never really felt pregnant....i was tired and maybe couple of days where I might have felt nauseated (but I have a toddler and a demanding job I'm always tires) but other than that i didn't and still dont really feel pregnant. I'm 13+ week's now.
Its a really anxious time isn't it. 6 week's is actually still early for symptoms and a lot of people don't get them until week 6/7 or even later/at all.
Is there a theory with the pulse? Not heard that one.....
What kind of appointment is it? With the MW?

FairfaxAikman · 23/08/2017 21:49

It's a first appointment. Theory is your heart rate rises in first trimester. Mine went up but is coming down again

SS81C · 23/08/2017 21:55

Oh I didn't know that. Mine has dropped in both pregnancies but I didn't keep track of it early on so not sure.
So the midwife will go through your medical and pregnancy history to flag up anything that might make you high risk along with family medical history. This will help decide if you are midwifery or obstetric care.
They usually want to know a bit about your partners family medical history
They usually check your urine and BP.
They will talk to you about screening tests and bloods.
They might take the bloods (some places do it with your scan)
They will probably book you in for your scan and work out your estimated due date.
Plus answer any questions you might have.
Hope that helps a bit xx

CL1982 · 23/08/2017 22:10

@FairfaxAikman I had an Ava Bracelet and it's a really common thing on there to have people panicking when their HR went down in week 6. The advice was 'stop tracking!' It seems totally normal. Mine never really rose tbh.

Not feeling pregnant is normal too I think. I am very anxious and I think will continue to be until week 20 or when I start feeling the baby move. I am desperately trusting my body at the moment. It's a hard time though.

Took a paracetamol for the cramps and just going to try to ignore them. Nothing I can do and I'm hoping it's normal to have period like cramps!!

OP posts:
SS81C · 24/08/2017 06:36

Sounds silly but it's not your boweĺs is it?
Did it settle with the paracetamol? So many changes and baby is growing so quick that odd feelings can be perfectly normal. Hope it's better this morning xxx

CL1982 · 24/08/2017 10:19

I did wonder that. It seems to have settled this morning. Going to take it pretty easy as I have a day off I think....

Sounds like a plan Claire.
I decided in my wisdom to go to town with my toddler..to shop for a wedding next week as I have nothing to wear..which is somewhat stressful...and not very successful.....urgh!

CL1982 · 24/08/2017 13:17

@SS81C Asos. It's the best place ever. Also pay £10 and get next day delivery for a year. Perfect dress awaits you!!

Bit of a random one here, but does anyone no if the dominoes garlic and herb dip is ok to have when preggers? (Dominoes for tea tonight)

mummyGof2boys · 24/08/2017 14:41

@Lauralou031986 most of the shop bought mayo based things are fine. It's more homemade mayo things that are made with raw eggs. Enjoy your dominos

mummyGof2boys · 24/08/2017 14:42

I just went out and bought one of those wheat heat wraps for your neck to see if it helps my headaches. It has lavender in it and Iv booked a pregnancy massage for Saturday too

SS81C · 24/08/2017 14:57

@cl1982 Will definitely give that a look tonight....
I needed and outfit and toddler needed shoes....found neither....did fall in love with a rose gold leather tote bag.....a bargain at £120....it didn't come home with me sadly! Haha!

CL1982 · 24/08/2017 15:53

@SS81C BUY IT!!!!

OP posts:
SS81C · 24/08/2017 15:56

@CL1982 I'm so tempted because it was lovely but spending that much money on a bag seems so frivolous when we have a baby on the way.....or maybe I deserve a treat....im working all bank holiday weekend.........haha!

Sussexgal · 24/08/2017 16:01

Buy it now! You need a treat too!! X

SS81C · 24/08/2017 16:12

It's so pretty........and practical (ish) I need a bag for this wedding that I can hide toddler treats and toys in.....

Part 2 - anyone found out they are pregnant and want some buddies
Sussexgal · 24/08/2017 16:13

Sounds like a winner to me!! X

blueobsessive · 24/08/2017 17:13

It is rather nice. Is there a way you can zuzh up a pre existing outfit for the wedding and get the bag. The bag would be about the same as an outfit, and you might use it more often (especially as it looks large enough for things like nappies and wipes for when baby arrives). Shopping on gcse results day sounds similar to what I did last week on a level day. Seems a good idea at the time but ghastly in practice. Much sympathy for the shopping expedition and for working all bank holiday weekend. Hope there is good camaraderie going

@mummyGof2boys hope the wheat bag works. Failing that the massage. If those don't work might a swim work (still spotting so I'm not allowed- you could vicariously swim for me? I'm a strong believer in swimming solving pretty much all ills. I'd have swum on the morning of our wedding if the complex hadn't been shut for maintenance!). V glad it's not pre eclampsia.
