Hi girls, I had my sweep on Tuesday afternoon as was due on Monday! MW said I was 2cm, on Wednesday I had lost my plug, since then I have been experiencing like period pains in lower bump and back. The lower abdomen cramps have now eased but from this morning my lower back is in agony only time it eases is when I'm on my birthing ball & now tonight period like cramps are back in my lower bump, pain in my back is so sore it's making me feel sick. Am I in early labour? I was induced 40+10 with my first so can't even tell what I should be going through and not sure wether to hold off or contact hospital?

So sorry for rambling just so fed up and sore now Shock

Xx

Handbag too heavy?

Fuck me, I've heard it all now.

I despair.

stoplickingthetelly · 24/07/2017 06:58

Definitely sounds like early labour to me. Dc1 was back to back and I felt all of my contractions in my back all the way through labour. Never really had any tightening in my belly. A tens machine helped me so you try that.

Francine92 · 24/07/2017 08:58

There was literally nothing in it either, she was just so rude I was happy enough to leave.

Worse this morning feel like my back bones are crumbling away, but I guess the pain could be from the sweep last night can't believe I've to stick this out with just paracetemol could do with ALOT of wine Grin

If this is what I feel now I dread labour with this little one, thanks girls I'll look into tens machine today xo

How would you feel calling your midwife (not the hospital one) and asking her to do something about getting induced now - if that would help. Tell her how unhappy you are and that you are not coping. She may be able to pull some strings.

Francine92 · 24/07/2017 10:52

Can they do that? I don't have a set midwife it's just different midwives in the clinic.. I'll try phone through to the clinic and see if I can get speaking to someone.

My partner tried to take his leave from today & his manager didn't even bother to get back to him so he's away into work now. This is where the fun starts as I can't move out of bed without reducing to tears x

Yes they can - it was the same at my clinic, lots of midwives, but just happened to always see the same midwife. I had a horrible rash (not the liver related one) and was over due. my mum actually called for me (she's quite assertive) and they brought me to be induced quickly because I was very unhappy and uncomfortable. I went into labour a few hours before I was due to be induced tho
Can call and see - mention you are struggling to look after your other child. Can any friends/family come round? Or a nice neighbour?

Francine92 · 24/07/2017 13:57

My partner is finishing up in work early and taking his 2 weeks leave now instead of Thursday, I called the local clinic and said a midwife will call me back. Pains have eased off a little think it's due to the paracetamol and sitting relaxed but LO is now getting impatient so think I'm going to have to take him out a walk to park. Let's hope pains don't come flaring back. Thanks for the advice, worst to worst my little one will be here by the weekend one way or another and all will be forgotten just trying to stay positive x

It'll be so soon now!

I had the same as you, I think five days of slow-labour before I was admitted into hospital. During the day I'd feel 'kinda fine' but at night it was really sore.

I found a Tens machine helpful.

I recommend you keep walking (and sleeping) as much as you can. I think I found labour especially tricky because I literally hadn't slept for four nights, just grabbing cat naps during the day so by the time I was fully dilated I was almost delusional with tiredness and so literally just sat, very still and silently for the entirety of active labour.

I'm sure that if I'd kept upright it would have been faster.

You are so nearly there! Good luck!!

LexieLulu · 25/07/2017 22:35

I got told to buy a tens machine by a midwife when I was in labour.

I hated it and stopped using it after a while.

I told his to another midwife after birth and they said that was wrong advice, I should have been using it in the lead up to the labour to understand and have best effectiveness.

Conflicting advice (isn't it always with MW's and HV's?)

Anyway, the end is in sight OP! Eeep! X

becauseisaid · 25/07/2017 22:47

Bless you Hun baba will soon be here, will all be over until next time WinkGrinCakeBrew

ScotsLamb · 25/07/2017 22:56

At least you aren't just having more sweeps with nothing happening. Good luck on Thursday and I hope baby appears before induction is needed!

ruthieruthuk · 25/07/2017 23:02

Hi been reading post, sounds like u been having a tough time, from reading your first posts i was convinced u would be posting to say baby arrived but hang in there ur almost at the finish line, sounds like baby nice n snug in there but not easy on your side, best of luck for Thursday or before if things happen on their own Smile

Lj8893 · 25/07/2017 23:23

Tens machines are best if they are used in the latent labour phase, they generally don't do much for women in active labour unless they had been using one in the early stages also.

definitely sounds like you are in early labour OP, but like you say that can go on for days! However, it should mean your induction will be more effective and hopefully quicker!

kingfishergreen · 25/07/2017 23:25

*I got told to buy a tens machine by a midwife when I was in labour.

I pretty much hated it too, but at least it gave me something other than my innards to concentrate on. Maybe that's how they work, provide mild irritation and slight nausea to distract from contractions.

Francine92 · 26/07/2017 00:24

Yeah suppose, I thought I've came far enough without using one so I didn't even bother buying one.. the end is definitely near, some cleaning tomorrow a bath and an early night try catch up on my sleep Hmm I am just praying after all I've been through from my first sweep that the labour flies in without any fuss - wouldn't I be lucky lol

Honestly girls just can't wait to she's here, been in so much pain I've forgot what the end result would be & now I'm getting nervous about labour and being a new mummy all over again ahhh help! Haha.. hope you are all well xo

Just checking in to see how you're doing OP? Really hope you're having baby cuddles now!

Blondielongie · 27/07/2017 22:07

Yes! How's things?

Francine92 · 27/07/2017 23:24

Oh my..... will never do this pregnancy thing again LOL still being induced from 8am contractions are now only 2 every 10 minutes this little girl of mine does not want to come out lol xx

OP posts:
Lj8893 · 27/07/2017 23:31

If your induction began at 8am and you are having contractions 2 in 10 minutes that's pretty good! Generally induction takes a lot longer than that!
