I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is great: 024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Thinking of you too Blue.

It's hard enough for people to have HG, it's awful to hear about everyone having extra difficulties on top Sad

Oklahoma · 30/07/2017 14:24

Just I take my ondansetron 6 hourly and take promethazine (very similar to to cyclizine ) at night. Every 8 hours just wasn't often enough and the promethazine is also a sedative so it stops me waking in the night with nausea so often. I would definitely try that for a few days and see how you get on

thingymaboob · 30/07/2017 14:33

@BlueIsYou
I work in a hospital and I know that there are lots of good outcomes for babies who are 24 / 25 weeks gestation. I know it's far from ideal but the NICU are amazing. Our little babies are very resilient. I'm so sorry you're going through this stressful time! I will be thinking of you xxx

justtheonethen · 30/07/2017 14:35

oklahoma I did that yesterday and i just don't think it's working. I feel so rough and hopeless Sad

thingymaboob · 30/07/2017 14:42

I would highly recommend omeprazole as it's really complimented my sickness meds. Only been sick a couple of times since Monday and stomach feels so much more settled

Lemondrop99 · 30/07/2017 15:43

Omaprazole definitely helped me to some extent too. Acid reflux was causing increased nausea and vomiting.

justtheonethen · 30/07/2017 16:10

Is that otc or prescription?

Anatidae · 30/07/2017 16:58

Olmeprazole and ranitidine are both considered safe in pregnancy and can be bought otc and super cheap in supermarkets.
Definitely helped me. Gaviscon just wasn't cutting it

Natsku · 30/07/2017 17:15

That must have been very difficult and heartbreaking to go through weasledee

OH dear blue sounds very scary but it is amazing how well very early babies can do these days. Fingers crossed baby stays in a bit longer.

LucindaE · 30/07/2017 21:11

Thinking of weasledee and Bluesyou.
On meds for acidity, just as others say, so many sufferers on here have found that if they take something for that, the sicknesss massively reduces.

DeadDoorpost · 31/07/2017 02:25

So because I had a 4-5 hour sleep earlier I'm now wide awake. I've also had to take another tablet as the nausea seems to be getting worse not better. Least I'm not taking loads at the moment but something is obviously setting it off. I may have to completely overhaul my diet to find out what's causing it.
(It might be milk I'm not sure. And if it is I'm going to cry)

Also, I keep getting these pains on the side of my belly. Do you think it's just the ligaments/tendons stretching or could it be something else? It's definitely not cramps or anything but the pain will be sharp and go from bottom of the pelvis up to level with my belly button.

Mustang27 · 31/07/2017 09:04

Dead that sounds like ligament pain I went up to triage last pregnancy it was so bad and they check that everything is ok and gave me some great pain killers. It's worth a check if it's sore enough as your appendix can give you grief in pregnancy and cause a lot issues so
always better to be safe.

Blue that is a complete nightmare, I really hope he stays out for as long as he can but as others have said lots of premature babies this early do fantastically well. Still doesn't make it any less scary or worrisome for you. Rest rest rest!!! Do nothing act like a Greek goddess and get your oh to run about after you!! You know like peel your grapes and stuff.

Weasle I can't even imagine how horrible that must have been. Massive hugs for you and I hope you are taking it super easy and treating yourself to anything you want, you deserve it xx

Mustang27 · 31/07/2017 09:29

Blue that's supposed to say *stay put bloody predictive is a swine

BlueIsYou · 31/07/2017 09:34

Hello all, thank you for the support Flowers

Baby Blue is hanging on in there fabulously, his heartbeat is steady so just coming off monitor now. He will likely be born early but hopefully not quite as early!

It sounds so selfish but it's our Wedding Day on Saturday and I had stupid thoughts like "Well I can't leave him for the day if he's in NICU, it will all have to be cancelled".

Thankfully all should be fine for Saturday.

My Grandmother said I was inconsiderate and was 'letting everyone down' because I was in hospital and baby might've had to come out Sad

I didn't pay for the Wedding reception, my Grandmother/Parents did... But I can't help but think my GM should've had a little more compassion at the time. She's no old dear, she's only 69!

DeadDoorpost · 31/07/2017 09:35

Mustang cheers I'll keep an eye on it (just woken up but still really tired so I'll probably go back to sleep) and if it does get worse I'll head up. Feels like I've got other pains but I may have slept awkward so can't be certain. Cba right now with pregnancy

Anatidae · 31/07/2017 09:55

Still feeling sick, but had a bleed yesterday- so it may all be game over. Just need to wait and see.

How quickly do HCG levels drop do we know?

beanhunter · 31/07/2017 12:02

When does this get better? I'm feeling so miserable today. I don't think I've kept any food down for a fortnight and have lost another 2lb since last lot of fluids 5 days ago. I just have no energy. I don't actually know how I will cope when husband back to work in 2 weeks and I have a 5 year old to look after. Let alone the fact I'll have a job again at some point.

LucindaE · 31/07/2017 12:28

Bluesyou Glad to hear baby is still inside. What a tactless remark from your grandmother - the things that older relatives say sometimes to younger ones is staggering.
Anitidae Oh dear- a lot of people have that without it leading to miscarriage - can they give you can early scan? Sympathies - it is so nerve wracking.Unfortunately, the hormone leves do remain high for a while - so I think you need sophisticated tests for them to prove anything, not on ordinary pregnancy test. What does the doctor say?
DeadDoorPost People get all sorts of stretching pains, but it is always worth asking the surgery if you feel anxious.
beanhunter Sorry you feel grim. Most people will see an improvement between 14 and 21 weeks approx; some later. Even for those who suffer throughout, it is almost never as bad as at the beginning, so don't despair.

pippanippa · 31/07/2017 12:31

Bluels, sorry to hear about the threatened premature labour, but glad to hear things are looking ok for now. I hope you make it to your wedding, and are able to ignore your grandmother's insensitivity!

Hope everyone else is ok, but sorry to hear of worrying times Anatidae, and difficult times bean. Anatidae I think it depends very much according to different people, my HCG levels dropped quite quickly after a MC (but this was very early on) and 3 days after the bleeding started I had a negative result on a home test. Hope it's a false alarm for you.

Interesting to hear that Ranitidine works for some - I started taking it approx 10 days and I have to say it has reduced the vomiting significantly (now 1-3 times a day rather than 1-20+)! I never felt like I had heartburn so was very sceptical - maybe it's just a coincidence, but I'm glad anyway. The only problem is that for the last few nights I have been waking with nausea in the night, feeling just awful. I'd been lucky enough to escape that up till now and today I am exhausted!

Hope everyone else is ok!

Anatidae · 31/07/2017 13:10

Ranitidine and olmeprazole take a while to reach full effect so keep with it!

I'm in Sweden so no early scans or doctors involved - they are really really hands off here, you only get medical attention if your head is hanging off 🙄 Just have to wait and see I think. Thanks for the kind words - I needed that today! The bleeding has tailed off so let's hope it's ok....

justtheonethen · 31/07/2017 16:15

Back on the drip again Sad

Eeek a wedding! How exciting blue, glad baby is behaving Smile

justtheonethen · 31/07/2017 16:16

ana fingers crossed everything ok

beanhunter · 31/07/2017 16:37

Ana I bled at 6 and 8 weeks this pregnancy.
Just - hope you feel better
Blue - fingers crossed little blue sits tight a while longer

Afm ketones increasing again. Trying to hold off until tomorrow though.

Anatidae · 31/07/2017 16:42

Thanks bean and just 😘

Toomanydogs · 31/07/2017 17:08

ana hope it's all okay for you and baby.
just I don't envy you, hopefully you can stay hydrated though and feel a bit better.

Just been back to see GP as I didn't realise on Friday that I was going to run out of Cyclizine on Saturday morning until it was too late to get an appt! Felt okay Saturday, but Sunday and today have been absolutely awful, now stocked up on it for quite a while though so hopefully will be able to keep some food down this evening and tomorrow.
