Hi there,

How early have you taken a test and got a positive result?

HiSmile for me I got a positive a few days before my period as I'm inpatient. I used a Clear Blue digital test. I have heard early response ones work and own brands do the job as well

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 04/07/2017 13:58

I've never had a positive until after I've missed my period... No matter what the tests say!

owltrousers · 04/07/2017 14:15

I had a positive 4 days before my period was due with First response early response, was extremely faint though!

Justhadmyhaircut · 04/07/2017 14:16

Asda own test 4 days before a due. .
Another time at 8dpo.

Ohmygodeverynameisfuckinginuse · 04/07/2017 14:18

8dpo. 6 days before period due. Very faint on first response.

Anyone taken one sooner?

leighdinglady · 04/07/2017 20:58

5 days before my period! Both times. That's about 9dpo for me

EmilyJ90 · 04/07/2017 23:45

I've just got my BFP 1 day late :)
Good luck!

calimommy · 05/07/2017 05:33

I always get a positive from a First Response 5-6 days before my period is due.

MmmMalbec · 05/07/2017 06:03

11dpo with a FRER, very faint but not a total squinter

mummabubs · 05/07/2017 06:57

For me it was only 5 days after my period was due that I got a positive result. (Took one on the day my period was due and then another 3 days after it was due, both were negative so I was half expecting my one at 5 days to be negative too!!) That's why for me personally I'd never test early (as fricking tempting as it is!) as even if you get a negative you won't necessarily be able to trust that if you test early so just ends up costing you lots in tests and doesn't give you a clear answer if that makes sense OP? Xx

Mandraki · 05/07/2017 07:10

I had negatives all the way up to the day my period was due and then I got a faint line on the day of (so 14dpo). A lines a line though as I'm 27 weeks now.

Dawsonforehead · 05/07/2017 07:28

If you can wait for a few days after you miss your period then it will be a reliable result. You will save yourself money in pregnancy tests and you may save yourself the heartbreak of having an early positive and then having a period.

CL1982 · 05/07/2017 09:43

9DPO. It was on a FRER but it was there.

hickorydickorynurseryrhyme · 09/07/2017 20:50

Dawsonforehead I didn't think you could get a false positive though?

OP posts:
hickorydickorynurseryrhyme · 10/07/2017 10:18

Arghh! It is so frustrating. I think my period is due either on the 12th or the 14th. I did a Clear Blue test on Saturday and I swear I could see a line. It was so so faint though and I could only see it when I held it up to the light and held it in a certain angle. I've taken two tests since (I know I'm inpatient) and they have both been negative. Now I'm thinking maybe it is all in my head or maybe it is just too early. I guess I am just going to have to wait until the weekend.

False positives are very rare, but I think a so-called 'chemical pregnancy' will give you a positive but then you'll likely get your period a few days later.

Responses depend very much on your hcg levels. During both my last pregnancy and this pregnancy I've had a doctor get a negative result when I was pregnant and it should have shown up. Each time I got a positive result a few days later (a few days after my period was due). Conclusion must be that I have low hcg in early pregnancy, which I think is not uncommon.

Dawsonforehead · 14/07/2017 17:30

As LorelaiGilmore said....low levels of beta hcg can make a pregnancy test positive, and so can successful implantation. However if there are any problems at implantation and a very early miscarriage occurs at the 5 week mark, it is possible that a positive pregnancy test then looks like it turned in to your normal period. Hope that makes sense?

InThisTogether · 14/07/2017 19:23

Negatives until 2 days after period was due, and even then only positive on clearblue and first response.
Cheapies took over a week after before I got bfp.

issy2165 · 15/07/2017 07:53

Negative on Sunday positive on Thursday morning day period was due!

hickorydickorynurseryrhyme · 15/07/2017 16:48

My period was due either 12th or 14th. Today is 15th, I took a test and it's negative. Still no period though.

Hi so I came on my period this month regular 28 day cycle, did the baby dance and five days later I came on 7th day today I’m still bleeding. Impossible to be pregnant coz I only had five days no bleed. How we something inside me told me to take a test today I took a test and this is what came up, looks positive but I’m very scared as it might be false or ectopic anyone else has this experience and had a healthy baby

I had a very faint line 3 days before my expected period (tested on Friday morning with period due on Monday, I think). I used the Clearblue Early pregnancy test. Boobs were very sore on the Friday already, so I knew something wasn't "quite right" :-)
