I'm 4w5d and wondered if anyone else fancied joining me on the amazing journey to come?
First, second, third or fourth (or more!!) timers welcome!

This will be #1 after a long 18 months of miscarriages, infertility and heartache but i'm feeling super positive about this one and ready to enjoy the next few months!

Iv used a hot water bottle, I just make sure my stomach doesn't get to hot with it tho, maybe put a towel round it or something

MrsMP123 · 04/07/2017 09:37

That's good to know. I could really do with a hot water bottle but keep reading conflicting advice about it. Some say don't put on your stomach and some say it's fine. I've got a nice thick cover for mineSmile

Hi everyone - just a little update for anyone with some back ache.....I went to see the chiropractor today and apparently my backache is due to a tilted pelvis which has thrown my shoulder out. Apparently as we have bucket loads of relaxin in our systems right now anything that is sore/not quite right before is basically exacerbated by it - yay. She didn't do much to the pelvis but she's cracked the shoulder and neck which is much looser. I can't recommend seeing someone enough if at any stage in your pregnancy you have backache. She also recommended ice if it feels like you have muscular back ache and not heat. Apparently it brings the swelling down better than heat
.

I've googled the hot water bottle thing and it's definitely fine as long as you're not burning up so make sure there's a decent cover, or do what I do and put a third cold water in. It's the same with warm baths, they're fine but you're just not supposed to have the water burning hot.

Thanks CL1982! Good advice :)

CL1982 · 04/07/2017 11:45

@kerryealnne84 which is such a shame as i LOVE hot baths. I'm basically not going near hot baths at all. DH and I had a joke that they were the reason we weren't getting pregnant and the month i got pregnant first was the month i took no baths during the 2ww. Oh the irony. I don't think that had anything to do with it but he always jokes about it now! B*stard.

@MrsMP123 Don't forget if they get too sore you're ok to take paracetamol. I had to yesterday as the pain in my shoulder got so bad. Just don't take a lot of it - one here and there won't hurt though.

MrsMP123 · 04/07/2017 11:55

I took 2 paracetamol this morning which seems to have taken the edge off. Looking forward to getting home to a bath and a hot water bottle!

KerryLeanne84 · 04/07/2017 12:01

Haha CL1982! Meanwhile the other lady I know who IUI worked for went home afterwards and had a bath and got pregnant! :)

CL1982 · 04/07/2017 12:13

@mrsMP123 that's great news. And Kerryleanne84 that is hilarious! I think it was pure luck but i've steered away from baths just in case! Thank goodness it's summer as i rely on baths in winter to keep me warm!!!

Hey everyone! doing a lot of shifts just now so can only dip in and out here every few days. Did my clearblue digital today and got my 3 + weeks Grin ! soo happy!

I am gutted about the bath situation as I love my toasty hot baths. just avoided them completely just now I know we are allowed to have them as long as its not super hot but i cant trust myself not to make it too hot Blush
CL1982 thats a good tip about back ache thanks! ill keep that in mind.

Hope everyone is doing good Smile

I'm going away next week and we have. Hot tub outside the lodge. I've read that it's ok to use in pregnancy as long as it's no more than 10 minutes at a time. Going to see how warm it is I think

CL1982 · 04/07/2017 15:44

Same @summer1986 We're in Turkey from tomorrow for a week so i'm just going to avoid anything warm i think....

Someone just referred to their worry about a scan as 'Scanxiety'. It may be my new favourite portmanteau.....

OP posts:
KerryLeanne84 · 04/07/2017 16:08

CL1982 I can't seem to say that! I think mine is 'snaccident'

Summer1986 · 04/07/2017 16:09

Scanxiety is a brill word!

CL1982 · 04/07/2017 16:23

HA!!!! Love it.

blueobsessive · 04/07/2017 17:48

Just back from scan - seems there is a sac inside the uterus which is good- another scan in a fortnight to look for a heartbeat. Can't see if viable yet. No obvious reason for the bleeding. More scanxiety to come.

Glad your chiro was helpful @CL1982. I've been advised against manual pummelling because of the joint laxity (although I have eds so lax joints to begin with before the progesterone gets involved - maybe I'd become all unravelled). Mainlining the pilates at the mo to try to build more core strength and pelvic floor. Hopefully I'll stop spotting and will be able to get back to swimming soon. In 8 years of joint bother that has been a lifesaver as it's such good pain relief.

Have fun in Turkey. Sounds amazing.

Hope everyone else doing well.

We are in for a scorcher weatherwise tomorrow...

Summer1986 · 04/07/2017 17:54

Keeping everything crossed for your next scan blue. Xx

SheSaidHeSaid · 04/07/2017 18:45

Fantastic news kittykat ! Yay!

I love hot baths too. I've had warm baths but I do constantly worry they're too hot so they're definitely not as relaxing as they used to be.

First day in the office for me since I found out I was pregnant, I feel so guilty knowing I will be going on mat leave in 7 or 8 months when my boss is already struggling with lack of staff at the moment and as it is she's finding it very hard to recruit good replacements for those who've left recently. She kept saying how happy she is that she has me as a stable member of the team Shock Confused . Awkward.

KerryLeanne84 · 04/07/2017 19:23

That's great news Blue!

SheSaid - not your problem! Let your boss worry about that 😊

CL1982 · 04/07/2017 19:32

@blueobsessive are you ok doing Pilates? My yoga teacher won't do yoga until I'm 12 weeks. Not sure if it's the same for Pilates though..

Glad they could see something on the scan :)

CL1982 · 04/07/2017 19:34

@shesaidhesaid don't let that worry you my dear. Your boss will adapt. It does feel harsh though. My boss knows as we've had a few mcs and I told her and she's gloomy but excited for me.

Hello, checking in from the floor of the ensuite, trying to decide whether I need to throw up or not. Good job I work from home or i would probably be late for work by now.

I didn't realise about the hot baths and yoga, I really need to get reading! I ordered the Mumsnet Preganacy book as it had good reviews and I wanted something UK centric and anecdotal rather than too sciencey. Is anyone else reading anything they'd recommend?

CL1982 · 05/07/2017 09:06

I'm off to Turkey this avo. Just wondering if i should pop another baby aspirin before i get on the plane.....? Not that i'm paranoid about clotting or anything....

OP posts:
KerryLeanne84 · 05/07/2017 10:51

Have a great time in Turkey lady! baby aspirin can't hurt, so I'd say go for it :)

Is anyone else freaked out by symptoms (cramping - what does it mean? Googles oh its normal) and freaked out by not getting symptoms?

Hope you feel better soon Smeerf! Try to eat something plain if you can, apparently it helps
