I'm 4w5d and wondered if anyone else fancied joining me on the amazing journey to come?
First, second, third or fourth (or more!!) timers welcome!

This will be #1 after a long 18 months of miscarriages, infertility and heartache but i'm feeling super positive about this one and ready to enjoy the next few months!

Thanks MummyG and CL- I know I've overdone it today so I'm sure it's just that.

MummyG he's a good egg....im stupidly making a fish pie from scratch......should have stuck with fish fingers and waffles.....i don't even want fish pie. Haha!!

mummyGof2boys · 31/07/2017 17:25

@SS81C that is the worse feeling isn't it. Making something that you would normally love and then not wanting to eat it. The effort is just too much tonight so shop bought lasagne, garlic bread and salad it is. It will probably repeat on me all night too.

You should have your feet up chilling lol. That's all Iv done today. I had a rare day off and both kids were in nursery so Iv been on the sofa.

Thank you for all the encouraging replies.

To answer the qs:

  • I tend to lurk on the TTC threads but I don't think I ever had the courage to post. We went through the mill a bit with TTC and got pregnant the month we had given up on it happening naturally. Goodness knows if that made a difference.

  • DH is a Dr - but of geology rather than medicine - a rock doc.

  • my own parents are both medical doctors, plus a brother. Yes, the crazy formal correspondence came from an actual doctor (retired: thankfully).

  • I am 8+5 at the moment. Will see what the fearsome (in a good way) Dr H says tomorrow.

  • I will happily tidy up the fish pie if you'd like to bring it all the way to Central London after your heavy day :). We can trade you some Bolognese sauce from the freezer?

SS81C · 31/07/2017 18:34

@MummyG @blueobsessive ah lasagne and Bolognese are my faves.....id gladly seap. Actually the fish pie was quite nice.

Yes I'm hoping to do that once the toddler is in bed. I'm meant to be on a night shift tomorrow but I'm going to see how I am in the morning. This virus is lingering and I'm not gonna make myself worse by doing a 12 hour night shift. Got to look after myself.

My DH is a medical doctor (his family primarily consists of doctors and pharmacists.....christmas is a hoot! Although his dad is a builder with some impressive medical knowledge!) Nothing to do with obstetrics thankfully although he does remind me often that he delivered a baby as a medical student once! Haha!

Hope everyone has a lovely evening. Xx

blueobsessive · 31/07/2017 19:25

Glad pie was nice. @SS81C - glad I'm not the only one beset by medical relatives. Do your in laws squabble about the best way to suture the stuffing into the turkey at Christmas? Amazingly my DH's family (and us) seem to be able to survive without curved needles and suture technique...

SS81C · 01/08/2017 08:49

@blueobsessive haha....that one hasn't come up but there's definitely interesting dinner conversation!

CL1982 · 01/08/2017 11:06

Is there any fish pie left? I'll have it!!

@blueobsessive Mine is a Physics-type Doctor so also no good for babies Grin

Hi all. Just catching up after a lovely long weekend away. We were visiting friends in Edinburgh where we used to live and I had planned to meet up with about 12 different friends at various points - I had to tell them all about the pregnancy as they were too suspicious that I wasn't drinking and none of my excuses were convincing enough (perhaps I should worry about that 😂😂). So the cat is well and truly out of the bag now. It was much nicer to be able to tell people in person rather than by phone or email so in a way I'm glad I did, but just hoping I've not jinxed anything as have not yet had my dating scan - eek!

KerryLeanne84 · 01/08/2017 11:15

Wow you all have so many doctors in your families! None in mine! Must be handy if you're ill and wondering whether to go to hospital/the GP though!

How is everyone feeling today? I actually found the energy to make myself a tasty healthy dinner last night! Mexican burrito bowl - yum!

I've gone even more paranoid about miscarriages somehow :( Me and DH were talking about it last night re the 12 week scan and how that can be when people find out when things have gone wrong. I know the odds are in our favour but the next few weeks are still gonna be nail-biting!

KerryLeanne84 · 01/08/2017 11:16

Sah2241 bless you! I'm sure you haven't jinxed anything.

I stopped drinking while TTC last Oct so luckily me not drinking doesn't raise any eyebrows now!

CL1982 · 01/08/2017 12:47

@kerryleanne84 I do know the feeling. We're lucky as we get reassurance scans but that still doesn't make the worry go away. I just want it to be 2 weeks time already!!!!

@ss81c I have told a few people too. It's easier sometimes to just let them know. I know how you feel as well - even though we're 91/2 weeks i still feel like i shouldn't say anything until post dating scan....

@CL1982...theres a portion left actually.....couldnt face it for lunch.
Feeling much better today thankfully.
As long as the scan is ok tomorrow I think we will tell people this weekend. My sister is over and my DH and I are both off (which never happens) so I think we will try and tell the parents....just rather everyone didn't know and I know what his family are like for news spreading....id like to tell people ourselves so Hoping they can keep quiet for a few weeks. Xxx

KerryLeanne84 · 01/08/2017 13:55

Same here Claire :)

Is anyone else also getting really vivid dreams? I had a rather interesting one last night!

Lauralou031986 · 01/08/2017 14:10

How often do you have scans @CL1982

CL1982 · 01/08/2017 14:18

OMG yes Kerry I bloody have. But really weird, unrelated to babies type ones......

@lauralou031986 we had one at 6.5 weeks, one at just under 9 weeks and they're hopefully booking us in for one next week or the week after. I'd like to have our 12 week scan before we head to my parent's house as it's going to be very hard disguising things with my SIL and brother but the midwife seems to have gone silent! We're very lucky; I would have been a whole ball of anxiety had we not had them.

I had a dream about the bloody Annabelle doll, iv not even seen the movie only a picture of the doll, it freaked me out I HATE DOLLS lol. @CL1982 that's good that you get the reassurance 😀

blueobsessive · 01/08/2017 15:00

Hi all
Good luck to everyone with scans etc over the coming week. I'll look forward to finding you when I'm back.

We have just seen our little one. Heartbeat galloping away - and they waved, actually waved! They have gone from being a (lovely) bridge to more of a (pretty bouncing) baby shape.

The awesome fearsome Dr H was on good form. She is content with me flying and has reassured me that their appears to be neither evidence base nor mechanism by which it could harm baby; apparently I might feel rubbish if pressure drops but baby would be ok. Surprisingly there is a statistical coincidence in the Netherlands between stork populations and numbers of babies born - so an evidence base for storks bringing babies, but no credible mechanism @cl1982 your DH would get on with her- she is rigorous on the science side. I should bring my notes and Sani towels just in case and know where I can access emergency med treatment (and pints of o neg, in case my placenta is morbidly adhered again). No BASE jumping, rock climbing, high altitude or going too far from civilisation.

And yes, I have been having ludicrously vivid dreams too. Properly !!! too. I think it comes with the territory

Am I too late for the last bit of pie?

SS81C · 01/08/2017 15:27

@blueobsessive....she sounds awesome! So happy the scan was good.

I'm super nervous for mine tomorrow but fingers crossed we will see the little bean....night shift to get through first and I'm struggling to sleep (permanently tired unless I actually need to nap in which case - wide awake!!)

mummyGof2boys · 01/08/2017 16:30

@blueobsessive awww congratulation son seeing little one today. I bet you feel loads better about flying now.

Good luck tomorrow @SS81C

I feel like utter shit. The headaches Iv had last two days are making me really ill and so tired 😷😷 we told parents today and last night and sisters today. Everyone else after scan on Monday. How is everyone today?

mummyGof2boys · 01/08/2017 19:53

I swear I can feel the baby move. Not very often but tiny little pops. I know it's early. I will be 11 weeks on Friday. Strange

Lauralou031986 · 01/08/2017 20:05

Im the same as you @mummyGof2boys I'm sure I can feel something every so often aswell 😀

mummyGof2boys · 01/08/2017 20:08

@Lauralou031986 I feel like I'm going mad. It's mostly when I'm lying down and relaxing but it's definitely little pops and it's not wind. I felt my first at 15 weeks and my second just a little earlier so it could well be. Wee baby eeeek

Lauralou031986 · 01/08/2017 21:02

I can't quite remember how far along I was the first time round, the proper kicks are great although I won't be saying that when I'm being digged in the ribs lol

mummyGof2boys · 01/08/2017 21:11

When you get those wee toes in between your ribs ouch

CL1982 · 02/08/2017 10:16

Well, i had my first night of feeling shattered with insomnia last night. Couldn't sleep for an hour and then woke up every few hours. Hoping it's a one off and not the symbol of more to come!
