I'm 4w5d and wondered if anyone else fancied joining me on the amazing journey to come?
First, second, third or fourth (or more!!) timers welcome!

This will be #1 after a long 18 months of miscarriages, infertility and heartache but i'm feeling super positive about this one and ready to enjoy the next few months!

Anyone just found out they're preggers and want some buddies?

"Look at all of us with massive bumps, horrendous sickness, piles and varicose veins and small things that cry and puke everywhere being SO HAPPY - ha ha ha! What a laugh this is!"

Although the opposite would be worse i guess.... Grin I'll have a flick through and will share the other link if i find it....

Hi @cl1982
Lack of nausea sounds like a blessed relief- enjoy it while it lasts.
First midwife appointment is where they give you your monster set of notes, check weight and bp, do blood tests for things like rhesus and thalassemia and ask you (without your partner being there) whether he or she is violent or a risk to children. I was expecting it to involve more than it did- but it gets you into the system (although you are already on the radar of the prematurity clinic which is fab).
Once you have your maternity notes, if you don't have them when you go to the hospital they get a bit antsy (I felt like a pupil apologising for not bringing in my homework). They can still treat you, though.
The notes are great big heavy things (especially if you get seen a lot and they start adding pages).
Saved my life, though, when I presented to the hospital with sepsis, flung them my notes open at the right page (I had added post it's to tab the important bits) passed out and woke to find the consultant standing over me saying 'welcome back, I'm glad you came in- let's get you admitted'. She then pushed me in a wheelchair herself onto the labour ward while barking out orders while staff came running.

I don't want to scare you - what happened to me was very rare indeed. Carting about those notes was a good thing, though.

Not looking forward to nausea at a conference tomorrow....

@blueobsessive we don't have hand held notes here anymore. It is all on the computer which I found so very strange this time round. Last two pregnancies I Humphed my notes about with me everywhere just incase 😂😂

CL1982 · 21/07/2017 17:11

Oh gosh! Who said something rude there?!

@blueobssesive yes, i have been told to absolutely have my notes with me at all times.

And yes, it's a relief. I think tbh 1) It's let up a bit and 2) i'm eating Waaaaaaaaay more sensibly than i was. Small meals, snacking when i start to feel sick and lots of water. I'll be happy next Thursday after my scan though :)

Wow - someone on our thread has had their comment deleted. Crikey!

@CL1982 - glad you are feeling rather better

My nausea seems to be so unpredictable it's a bit of a roller coaster. I will try the eating little and often.

Ps @mummyGof2boys
Scotland rocks. That app is great (we don't have it down south). Have had to put in the postcode for Edinburgh airport to access it. Worth it.

mummyGof2boys · 21/07/2017 19:10

@blueobsessive it's really good isn't it. You get a hardback copy with your baby pack at your booking in appointment. Iv got three of them now. Really should give them back but doubt they would reuse them 😂😂

CL1982 · 22/07/2017 08:14

Thanks :)

Has anyone told their manager/boss before the 12 week mark or scan?

CL1982 · 22/07/2017 09:42

I've told my manager and h&s officer but not HR yet. I only told her now due to the early mcs though....

Interesting book, super detailed!

1sttime84 · 22/07/2017 11:37

I don't know if I should wait or not. I know it's safe to travel but I don't feel comfortable travelling alone to the US before my 12 week scan. I'd be meeting my manager for the first time as well when I go out there and haven't spoken to her too much since she became my manager in December.

CL1982 · 22/07/2017 12:59

It is a long flight. I think you'd be ok though? The babies are still pretty teeny...could you have a check up can before you go or pull the 12 week scan forward a bit?

I have had barely any morning sickness today. I am not worrying g-what a lie. I am super worried!! Assuming it's nothing bad though and things are just coming and going.

1sttime84 · 22/07/2017 13:15

@cl1982 I'm the same hardly any sickness and pretending not to be concerned. Asked the midwife but she said would have to wait until they book me in first and then try and change it.

CL1982 · 22/07/2017 14:49

@1sttime84 I don't know what is normal or not but it does seem normal to have things come and go. I do wonder if I'm eating properly now and drinking more it is genuinely better, whether it's a respite period or whether it's a bad sign!! Boobs are still sore and am still not liking certain smells and food plus shattered so being positive. Roll on Thursday! How are you? All other signs and tribulations still there?

1sttime84 · 22/07/2017 15:27

Agree that there is no normal and the mw said symptoms will come and go. My friend is 10 weeks ahead of me and said other than being tired she has had no symptoms. Only really felt it when the bump started to show.
I did speak too soon though I think as DH had to pull the car over for me to be sick. Boob soreness comes and goes too. But they have grown. Went to get a new bra and gone from C to DD.

SS81C · 22/07/2017 16:21

I definitely feel less sick the last few days. But my boobs are more sore.....and I'm exhausted and I've got more twinge type pains....i am eating better.

Oh all I want it stodgy food thoigh....we usually eat lots of salad and fish and roasted veg and I can't stomach any of those things...i just want pasta and sausage and pie and chips! Haha!

KerryLeanne84 · 22/07/2017 16:56

That's because carbs are the most delicious foods and the baby already knows it! :)

SS81C · 22/07/2017 17:22

@Kerry hahahaha! Pie and mash for dinner followed by Apple pie and custard! Haha!

KerryLeanne84 · 22/07/2017 17:26

Oh my god I'm so jealous! Last night I had focaccia for dinner! :)

CL1982 · 22/07/2017 17:41

I think that is normal. Roasted vedge and salad are setting me off and I usually ❤️ them so sticking to really bland stuff, carbs etc and getting the vedge where I can!!!!

Hi. Thanks for the links. Thinking of earlier links I ordered the Ozzie preggers bra online and have been wearing it today to the conference. Super super comfy. Way better than the scratchy bhs ones.

Hope you are all having good Saturdays.

SS81C · 22/07/2017 19:38

I'm just sat filling out my booking paperwork....we get given out booklet here to fill out the basic details on health and previous pregnancies etc...before my booking appointment on Wednesday. Kinda excited about it now.
Starting to feel a bit more real!
