Miscarriage doubts

Hi this is my first post but I'm desperate for advice or anyone that can relate - I was 15 weeks pregnant but about 2 weeks ago I had a heavy bleed and felt something pass, which I assumed was the baby. I didn't have any cramps or back pain.

I went to A & E where a doctor examined me and said my cervix was slightly open so a miscarriage was inevitable and I should go home and come back if the bleeding got worse or if I felt ill. He said he would refer me for a scan to conform.

Me and my husband cried and grieved, and tried to get our heads round it.

Anyway, the scan hasn't come through, I've been told it could take up to 6 weeks. In the two weeks since it happened, my tummy seems to have grown, but I don't feel feverish or ill. I just don't know what to do! Has anyone been through similar? I had some dark brown discharge today (sorry, tmi) but still no pain or anything.

I know once the cervix opens that's inevitable mc, but I still feel really pregnant and I can't wait 6 weeks to find out! If I do a pg test, would that tell me or is it too soon for a negative test? I don't want false hope, I just can't get my head round it 😕 Thanks for any advice or experience you can give.

I would insist on a scan tomo. . You are at risk of infection if things have gone on this long.
Sorry you are going through this.

I mc last June and it's awful. .

beekeeper17 · 25/06/2017 21:45

Sorry you're going through this. That's ridiculous that you would have to wait 6 weeks! I would phone the emergency assessment unit at your maternity unit (there should be a phone number in your maternity notes) and they should see you quickly. They are much better equipped to give you advice and deal with this situation that the A&E department.

Contact your midwife tomorrow morning and insist on a scan asap. Worst case you could always pay for a private scan to put your mind at ease.

I had a mc a few years ago, had to have D&C and was still showing as a positive test for about 3-4 weeks afterwards.

Thanks everyone, I will call first thing tomorrow and insist on being seen. Will update when I find out what's happening.

Good luck, thinking of you!

I had an early miscarrage last year and got a scan 2 days later, when I fell pregnant a few months after I was obviously anxious and was having light bleeding and got another scan the next day both in the early pregnancy unit. All was fine but they said any doubts pain bleeding anything to ring them and come back for another scan. Your care sounds terrible and I'm so sorry your going through this. Do make sure you call and insist on a scan asap.

ConConstance · 26/06/2017 21:49

Op, how are you today?

BeeMyBaby · 27/06/2017 15:25

Op, did you manage to get an appointment? How are you?

0htooooodles · 28/06/2017 14:56

Just wanted to say I had similar at 7 weeks. I passed a ton of blood and tissues, I presumed it was a miscarriage and went to the doctors - all my symptoms disappeared too. 4 weeks went past and I took another test, which turned out to be positive, went to the EPU who told me I was 11 weeks pregnant and I had a healthy baby. They think it was a twin pregnancy that passed.

I'm now 34 weeks Smile.

I hope you got some answers OP

user1498422409 · 02/07/2017 21:16

Hi everyone sorry for not posting for ages after you were all so kind to answer- I felt very unwell today and decided not to wait for my appointment at the epu next week so I went to hospital - long story short, they scanned me and I am still pregnant?! With a healthy little 18 week baby. They said the a and e doctor made a mistake. They apologised for what we have been through, and are investigating - and because I've had a bleed and been feeling unwell I have to take it easy for a while but yeah - still pregnant! Gobsmacked.

Dbt17 · 03/07/2017 01:07

I just had a miscarriage, started from brownish like blood, next day light blood very little immediately went to the hospital, then blood stopped next morning, some tests conducted and infection was detected, strong antibiotics was given and after usage next morning blood starts coming with urine, went back to the hospital and dc was recommended. After dc , no blood seen but after 5days light red blood coming small, now she putting on a pad. Could it be her period,,?

sparechange · 03/07/2017 01:24

This is great news

I wonder if you had a sub chorionic haemorrhage when you had the big bleed

How stressful for you though, and hope the rest of your pregnancy is straight forward and uneventful Flowers

ButterfliesandMoths · 03/07/2017 01:25

Awful what you've been through, but great news.

user1498422409 · 03/07/2017 06:53

Thank you! I'm not dwelling on the three weeks of grief that we have had, I'm just so grateful that I'm still pregnant - I have to have a cervical scan to see if there's anything wrong there, but the doc said just take it easy and I should be fine 😊 Xx

Bluerose27 · 03/07/2017 07:32

Oh wow amazing!!!! That's fantastic news!!!

PratStick · 03/07/2017 07:36

Shock you were treated awfully! I'm so glad you've had good news though.

beekeeper17 · 03/07/2017 08:53

Oh I am so happy for you! You have been treated horrendously though, A&E really should have referred you immediately to the emergency assessment unit at your maternity unit. If you feel up to it, please consider putting in a complaint, that sort of incompetence shouldn't be allowed to continue.

Wishing you all the best for the rest of your pregnancy!

Chamonix1 · 03/07/2017 09:41

Awh!!!!! Tears of joy for you here!
What a terrible thing you've been put through though OP. I'd be furious! They really did you and your baby a disservice.
Wishing you all the best for the rest of your pregnancy Smile

Hollyhop17 · 03/07/2017 09:48

Lovely, lovely news to read! Fingers crossed for plain sailing for the rest of the pregnancy.
