I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is great: 024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Can I tentatively shuffle on. Not sure if I'm classed as HG but today I've vomited 6 times and can't eat at all. Just about managing water. Hoping to get to gp soon and to ask for some anti sickness.

Oklahoma · 04/07/2017 14:54

Hi Bean sounds like you definitely belong here with us. How far along are you? Is this your first pregnancy? Great that you're managing water, staying hydrated is half the battle but definitely see your gp to get antisickness meds. They normally start you on cyclizine which often helps people a lot.
Hang on in there, it's horrendous and it's ok to just survive hour by hour during the early weeks. We are all going back g through the same so rant and moan as much as you need.

weasledee · 04/07/2017 15:06

I'm 10 weeks now and my boss text me earlier to see if I'll be back in work next week. I've been signed off for 4 weeks now and I feel exactly the same as I did at 6 weeks. It must be hard for him to believe that I'm still so sick! I do feel guilty but I'm no use for anything!! :(
Moan over :)

weasledee · 04/07/2017 15:07

Oh and welcome bean, definitely a member of our group :)

NonStopDisco · 04/07/2017 15:08

Hello bean welcome, and make sure you get to GP as soon as you can to get medication, and try and watch out for signs of being dehydrated just in case that water isn't staying down.

Mustang27 · 04/07/2017 15:18

Hi Bean sounds like you are definitely one of us sorry!!! My work was the same weasle during my first pregnancy the more they pushed the more stressed I felt the sicker I was. Maybe a frank conversation and a link to some Hyperemesis information might help. It really does help if you have a semi decent relationship to start with unfortunately my boss was a woman that hated women especially the ones that wanted families and thought there was more to life than just work.

beanhunter · 04/07/2017 15:35

Thanks. Sat at gp waiting to be seen after walking out of work. It's my 3rd pregnancy. I have a 5 year old dd then had a mc in 2015 then 2 failed ivfs and then a complete shock btp while waiting on our next treatment. Was a bit sick with munchkin but managed to work and think it was regular ms though a bit grim. Nothing with the mc. Trying to accept this as a positive sign but feel dire.
Thankfully I finish work on Friday for 2 months so hopefully that will make life easier.

Oklahoma · 04/07/2017 15:46

Weasel try not to worry about work. I was off for 8 months with my first pregnancy and have been off for 13 weeks so far with this one. Links to Hyperemesis information definitely helps!

1984FS · 04/07/2017 16:45

FYI all.. went to doctors. She referred me straight to hospital - ketones at +4. Just had an ECG, now having fluids and just had the cyclizine injected so I'm dizzy!! Shame I'm here but pleased to have help!

Natsku · 04/07/2017 16:58

Glad the doctor took it seriously and sent you straight to the hospital - clearly where you need to be! Hope you aren't stuck there too long.

DeadDoorpost · 04/07/2017 16:58

LucindaE erm... I'm 23 so definitely not a mature student! Grin yeah, by the time it came for my dissertation to be handed in I was about 10 weeks or so and just about to find MN i believe... or may have already found this thread. Either way, yeah.. had to deal with uni and HG.
As for the eczema, my friend was a rare case and his body just couldn't cope. The horrible MNer seems to still be replying but didn't shout me down, and others have also said how bad theirs is so it's helping I guess.

1984 so glad you're being sorted. Sad to hear you're in hospital but relax and let them take care of you.

weasledee · 04/07/2017 17:00

To be honest work haven't put any pressure on me but you can almost understand why they have trouble understanding why I'm still sick when the majority of women just breeze through pregnancy grrrrrr :)
This is my 3rd with HG so they do know what I'm like :)

DeadDoorpost · 04/07/2017 17:10

I found a new way to amuse myself today as well; while waiting for lunch to cook I replied to a spam email (there's £500 million to invest!!) and it's thoroughly entertaining.

NonStopDisco · 04/07/2017 17:31

@DeadDoorpost. Well done for getting through your dissertation, with HG at what can be the worst point! I was lucky because I was able to defer my Third year open university module, just wondering how I'm going to complete with an actual baby.

DeadDoorpost · 04/07/2017 17:48

My step mum was doing Open University with 8 kids (2 under 8) so it's possibly but with a newborn? Yeah just relax for a bit. I'm sure you'll find time somewhere though. Fingers crossed for you

Lemondrop99 · 04/07/2017 22:19

Ergh, I have buyers remorse. Decided to get a Chinese takeaway for dinner. It was overpriced and tasted of nothing. Worse, I totally forgot that I'd sworn off rice for the rest of my pregnancy. I mean, it's Chinese, you've gotta have egg fried rice, right? Wrong.

So just to reconfirm, rice is hands down THE most disgusting thing to throw up. As I rediscovered tonight 🤢.

weasledee · 04/07/2017 22:24

On no lemon!! Poor thing. Spaghetti is another unpleasant vomit food Grin

DeadDoorpost · 04/07/2017 22:50

I'm sorry Lemon that the rice didn't stay down. I had risotto for dinner and it tasted so good!
Tbf though I felt so sick beforehand as I'd had to travel in the car to the venue and almost threw up. I'm just glad I managed to feel better later on in the evening.

NonStopDisco · 04/07/2017 23:12

lemon I didn't believe rice was that bad when it has been discussed before, it's giving me memory nausea!
deaddoorpost I've enrolled on a lighter module in something I already know a bit about. It'll be fiiiine nervously twitches

DeadDoorpost · 04/07/2017 23:25

NonStop oooh, what module?

Hollyhop17 · 05/07/2017 05:59

Morning all. Preggo insomnia has been plaguing me recently. I've been awake since 445 this morning Sad

Sorry to hear about rice vom Lemon. You were brave to try again, all my trigger foods are strictly off limits!

Can I please ask about acid reflux? I have only just started suffering from it, literally last two weeks. However the last couple of days it has been relentless and making me so miserable. Is there anything I can do to make it better? Lucinda/Oklahoma/Mustang those with HG pregnancies already, is this another symptom that disappears with the delivery of the placenta?

Sorry to come back with a moan. I have to be nil by mouth for op tomorrow and really not looking forward to it..

Waves to all, hope its a good day.

NonStopDisco · 05/07/2017 06:39

DeadDoor it's Evaluating Contemporary Science for an Environmental Science degree, it's 30 credits rather than 60 so much easier to manage than the one I have just dropped!

beanhunter · 05/07/2017 07:38

Ok so managed not to vomit for 14 hours. This is good. Now to see how the day goes.

Melleebacca · 05/07/2017 07:44

Holly - acid reflux is due to the cramped stomach in the 3rd trimester usually. It will go away once you have all that space back.
You can get meds for it, but sitting upright after eating can also help. I take mag/calcium mix before bed and that helps settle the stomach and also helps with sleep.
Sorry to hear about the insomnia, it's probably worse knowing when baby is arriving exactly. I had a 12hr sleep the night before I went into labour with DD, the body's way of prepping me.

In agony here. Have stopped ondansetron as can't deal with the constipation anymore. Have horrific piles (so TMI), that are taking an eternity to heal. Barely slept due to pain. Need to lie down to be comfortable but lying down for some reason aggravates the nausea. So I'm either holding back vomit or almost crying in pain. There's too many days to go for me to even think happy thoughts.

Hollyhop17 · 05/07/2017 08:51

Thanke Mellee. So sorry to hear you're suffering. Did nothing help with the constipation on ondansetron? Suppositories etc? I know the horror of having to stop taking it, you have my full sympathies. Are you lying in bed or on the couch? I actually find it slightly easier to sleep on my couch for some reason, could a change of location help? I'm so sorry its so miserable today. I feel terrible moaning about acid reflux now... I really hope you can get some sleep today. Hugs.
