Everyone keeps asking if it's twins and saying how absolutely huge I am for 16 weeks

Anyone else?? Also the strangers touching your bump thing, I never actually thought that was a thing. It definitely is.

How are you all feeling about the comments of pregnancies thus far? Any fun stories to share?

Is this your first pregnancy? Bumps are usually larger with subsequent pregnancies.

However I have a friend who is 7 weeks ahead of me (I am 21 weeks) and from 13 weeks she was very obviously preganant and at 18 weeks her bump really was huge already! (I am still no where near as big as she was at 18 weeks) some people grow a big bump quickly and then slow down, some people gradually grow a bump.

The bump touching thing is annoying... everyone who touches my belly I just touch theirs bac... it is soooooo funny seeing their shocked faces!

Also DSIL is pregnant and when all the preggos get together MIL loves to make comments about how I don't show my bump off and I look so much better in tighter clothes (Personally I just feel like a whale shape as opposed to bump shaped!) people just love to make a comment on pregnant people!

However as I was a size 10 and am currently sat in a size 16 work skirt I do wonder who these people are who don't show until 25 weeks with their first!! lol

I didn't have any bump till 24 weeks in my first. Much earlier on second and third.

There is nothing negative either way so why get so annoyed! It never botherd me, any of the stock comments. It's just people chatting about the clearly biggest and most wonderful thing in your life right now.

Hiya. Yes first baby!! It's only light hearted annoyed. It's very nice of them to take interest but becomes tiresome saying no just the one all day long haha. Confuseddat I'm sure you don't look like a whale!! I am enjoying the bump atm. I'm ure that'll change when I'm huge!! I actually feel more confident tin clothes now I'm pregnant. Where as before I wore baggy and covered up. Strange eh?! And Omg haha at the touching their belly now way!! That is hilarious xx

I get this! First baby and ballooned from 8 weeks onwards, people insisted it was twins. It's not. It's one baby making itself a lot of room, been told I have a lot of waters. Xx

Yes, constantly questioning if it's twins here too. The thing is, each person says it once and thinks they are being unique. They probably don't realise how many times a day I have to say "I'm measuring perfect for my dates, this is just how big you are when you have a baby inside you".

Just kidding. I get very big bumps as well, so i get the same questions though. I like it though, im proud of my huge bumps.

You look quite neat, that photo was took at 17 weeks but it's my fifth.

Tinkle I'm proud of bump too but I think do people think I am huge or 🤔 😂 I did worry at first but midwife said I'm absolutely fine and not over eating or under eating so that's all good.

Although my BMI when I found out was pregnant was high. They said I'd have to see a consultant due to it but haven't seen a consultant for that reason yet! I think I carry my weight well. I'm short but a size 10/12 sooo was shocked when they said I was so overweight I'd have to see consultant lol!

Tomatoes exactly!!! I have to fake laugh all the time now. First few laughs a day or real. Rest forced... Haha x

To be honest I think it has a lot to do with how you dress your bump. A lot of people hide little bumps under baggy tops etc at first for their own reason. Others dress for their bump.

I'm so not into the bump touching. My sister keeps trying as my sister in law was the complete opposite of me and allowed anyone to have a feel. I just slap her hand away 😂

I work in an office full of men who have decided I must be having triplets as "I'm massive"

I'm actually 30 weeks pregnant and my bump has measured perfectly so far according to my midwife.

I have a B shaped bump so really I am just sad because the bottom is all soft pouchy belly and above my bellybutton is rock hard bump!... I cannot wait to have a proper round bump although I know it may stay B shaped so I guess I'll have to get used to it

I have a wedding to go to in 3 weeks and because of my B shaped whaleness I have nothing to wear... I am seriously considering spanks to try and look more bump shaped! lol

Confused, I've been wearing the maternity spanx throughout my pregnancy. I love them! I've been wearing jersey dresses so they smooth out the lumps and bumps and prevent the chub rub at the top of my fat legs. Brilliant things!

You look lovely and slim (aside from the bump) and I think on slim people the bump tends to stick out as a real distinct bump.

On people like me who are a lot more ahem padded, the bump is much less visible, and less of a ball shape.

As others said, clinging clothes emphasis and a baggy top hides

I'm 13 weeks today and I actually am pregnant with twins. I am usually a UK size 6 and I basically realised today that I actually could not get into any of my trousers or skirts and all my loose-fitting dresses needed washing. So I've trotted of to school (I'm a teacher) in a stretchy dress and, yeah... noticeable isn't the word for it!

I don't know why people think it's ok to say these things! I'm 32 weeks here and people say the same to me! Now I know I'm not huge .. although I feel it yet people say oh there must be 2 in there! Like seriously no there isn't keep it to yourself! I genuinely think it's a way to make small talk but to a hormonal pregnant lady it's enough to make you loose it! You look great by the way x

Someblondegirl What are these Maternity Spanx?!?! I was thinking of normal ones! I NEED these in my life atm! Just to give me a nice smooth over! DH doesn't understand and thinks I have some sort of body dymorphia (as I cry at the 10th outfit I have put on at the weekend)

I think really how you feel with your bump is down to you as a person, I used to be a lovely neat size 10 but I spent years being a lump prior to that and worked hard to keep my small figure, I always expected to balloon in pregnancy so my horror at my reflection could just be my assumption that I look like a manatee as opposed to this bump DH keeps talking about!

DH told me I was sticking out this morning (this is his first child) I thought he had more sense/self preservation.

I think people can be cheeky fond, I can joke about my own size but I wouldn't dare comment on how anyone else is carrying.

I don't feel so alone now. Glad I posted and thank you all for the compliments you lovely lot. I agree I wouldn't comment on someone's bump size. I did get a 'you look like your cooking he or she nicely' today which I actually kinda liked thought it was cute! Haha

I've had the twin comments as well so completely get the mild annoyance, but for me bump touching is the worst offence- since when did my body stop being my own and what makes people think that it's suddenly ok to undress you or touch your stomach?! No touchy!!!

Yeah I'm with you on this, OP. I was huge with my first pregnancy and I'm huge this time. Both times everyone (friends, family, strangers in supermarkets) has questioned me whether I'm having twins and the sonographer didn't notice the random lurking twin when I went for my scans. It doesn't matter how many times I tell them that carrying big runs in my family and it doesn't help that I'm short with weak stomach muscles, I get the same questions again and again. One group of friends are adamant in having twins and keep trying to catch me out and i overheard them discussing it and saying that they think I'm carrying two but keeping it a secret 🙄

As for the unwanted touching of my belly...well it's driving me insane. Although it does make me secretly laugh because these people keep rubbing the area above my belly bottom which is nothing pure bloat and not the bit below the belly button where the baby actually is

I was at a funeral this week when my husband's cousin (never met her before) said "oh, you're 15 week pregnant? I thought you meant you had 15 weeks to go!" Which narked me (lightheartedly) a little.
