Everyone keeps asking if it's twins and saying how absolutely huge I am for 16 weeks EnvyGrin

Anyone else?? Also the strangers touching your bump thing, I never actually thought that was a thing. It definitely is.

How are you all feeling about the comments of pregnancies thus far? Any fun stories to share?

Confused - they're called spanx mamas I think. I got mine from John Lewis. Across the belly they're like tights material so no pressure on the bump. Be careful if you do get them though, I've laddered both pairs of mine 😫

Some fab bump photos girlsSmile I'm 18 weeks and just look like I've had too much cake for quite a while Sad
Those spanx mama looks great I'm definitely getting someSmile

I'm 35 weeks and have had to have my photo taken today for my work's new website. There is a woman I work with who has constantly made comments about my size since being pregnant and today she asked me whether I fitted in the shot to have my picture taken. I really REALLY didn't want to have my picture taken at nearly full term to be put on the website for all to see, but I went along with it so as not to turn it into a big deal and she has just made me feel 100 times worse.

OP, you look brilliant, lovely and slim with a very cute neat bump. Don't let these comments spoil what is such a special time for you. Congratulations on your pregnancy and all the best of luck Flowers

Ginger782 · 16/06/2017 11:25

OP your bump is lovely! Take lots of photos - I don't have a single photo of my pregnant body because I was so self-conscious of my perceived weight gain. I'm sad to not have documented my first and only pregnancy. So take lots of photos and even if you don't like them save them away somewhere.

Confuseddot · 16/06/2017 13:22

Wondering how bloody rude of her!!! I smell complete jealousy if I am honest and also thank you so much.

Ginger I have took quite a few in outfits I like and I'm doing the bump selfie weekly photos on baby centre. Fab app for anyone who's pregnant BTW! Ginger I'm sure you looked fab pregnant xx

When I was pregnant with DD I was pretty small and hardly showed until about 30 weeks, but even when I was around 35/36 weeks I looked much less.
This is fine: I'm tall and a healthy weight so I was happy with my body shape.
(DD was 8lb7oz and 78 centile so not even a small baby!)

However - the comments I got were unbelievable... Are you sure you're that far along? You can't be! What does your MW say? Don't forget you're eating for two now! etc
The looks on their faces I will never forget. I felt quite happy that I was OK and my MWs said I was measuring perfectly all the way through, but if I had been less sure of myself or wasn't such a stubborn so and so listened to other people then I would have put on many stones after their accusing looks of implied starvation to my unborn child! It was ridiculous.

Try to ignore people's comments and practice the 'nod and smile' which will put you in good stead for when baby is here and everyone begins to tell you what to do! Grin

SparkleTea · 16/06/2017 13:39

You look lovely OP I wish I looked that good. Currently 24 weeks but measuring 28 so already feel huge. MiL is loving commenting on my weight, how I must be having twins and how much I am eating. 2-3 meals a day no snacking, I've had hyperemesis and it is only just starting to get better so I'm eating more than I was at the start.
I also hate people touching my bump, will have to try stroking theirs back... Grin

FiftyShadesOfDuckEggBlue · 16/06/2017 13:47

So rude. I had people asking me 'are you sure you're not having twins??' after about month 5. Surely, if I was, I would have known? I mean, was the second one hiding somewhere during the scan? Angry

wondering23 · 16/06/2017 14:29

I've just remembered that when I started a similar thread because of the woman I mentioned before, one Mumsnetter gave me a very good piece of advice which was to smile and nod whilst screaming FUCK OFFFFFFF silently in your head.

Works wonders, and not just for pregnancy size related situations Smile

PTphonehome · 16/06/2017 23:39

I'm 18+4 and feel huge, I don't remember when I showed last time as it was a long long time ago 😂

You look lovely PT

UnbornMortificado · 17/06/2017 11:09

Wondering what a nasty thing of her to say Angry

I always expect other women to be more sympathetic, really doesn't seem the case.

You look lovely PT I love that dress you look very "put together" and elegant.

wondering23 · 17/06/2017 18:38

I know! This is the latest in a string of comments like 'I'm going to have to breath in to squeeze past your bulk' and 'You don't look pregnant, you just look like you've eaten too many puddings'.

I could go on. She has her own children and grandchildren, so you'd think she'd know better.

Sorry to hijack your post OP, but I hope this makes you feel better. You're not in this alone and, in any case, you look great Smile

guigirl14 · 19/06/2017 10:25

Sorry to hook in on this a few days later than the OP, but I'm so glad this isn't just me!

I'm less annoyed about the size comments (which do seem to be regular, although I'm usually asked if I'm eating enough, which gives me a giggle given I was a size 16 pre-pregnancy). I'm more annoyed about the constant comparisons to other pregnant women. Like when you say, sorry I'm not going to your networking drinks because I've done 8 hours of full on work, I'm in my third trimester, it's a heatwave and as a result I'm knackered, hope you have a lovely evening. Every single time I get a supposedly jokey but pointed comment back about how another pregnant woman went along and had a great time/got on the dancefloor/stayed until midnight/ran a marathon at 30 weeks/isn't it funny how some women can do it all.

Good for them if that's what they enjoy! My little one's measuring up small and I prefer to work then go home and rest in front of a movie to give her the best chance possible at continuing to develop up to full term.

Winds me up something proper!

guigirl14 · 19/06/2017 10:28

Also wondering that's straight up nasty, you must be doing well to keep your temper! I have been really surprised at the lack of support from my female friends. The F-OFFFFFF trick works wonders :)
