How bad is your morning sickness & how many wks are you?

Just a quick survey really. The reason why I'm asking is because I'm unsure if my morning sickness counts as mild, medium or bad. Because I don't know how bad everyone else has it!

I'm 11+4 and throw up most mornings, again the afternoon (makes work so much more interesting…) and sometimes wake up around 3am with extreme nausea.

I'd say this is medium. I haven't been hospitalised and a lot of it is the horrible inside-out-feeling dry retching.

How sick has everyone else been?

7 weeks and very mild. I feel nauseous most of the time but have only actually thrown up twice.

With DD I threw up throughout the day every day for half the pregnancy (then returned in the 3rd trimester for a bit) starting at 5 weeks. I counted it as pretty bad although I never had to be hospitalised but it really made me feel so horrible.

Thanks for your reply Natsku. Glad this pregnancy isn't so rough on you. Would be interested to know if you're having a boy this time - there's a theory that you get worse morning sickness with girls.

I truly didn't know it would be like this. Thought I might be sick once a day in the mornings for a week or so.

Blame Hollywood for their misleading representations!

I just had nausea with no actual puking so mild here. Feeling much better at 13+2.

maltedmilk1 · 13/06/2017 21:04

Sorry to hear your suffering honestly the sickness during pregnancy is utterly awful I really really struggled. I have a two year old now but still remember how horrific it was.

I would say mine was also medium some days being worse than others. In the early days I was sometimes bed ridden and couldn't move. I honestly felt hungover, pounding head ache and then throwing up bile all day. Good job I was in between jobs at the time because I don't think I would of gone in.

Mine started at exactly 6 weeks and lasted until I was about 15 weeks so I was probably quite lucky as some people have it all through. I lost so much weight and looked like a skeleton.

I would say yours sounds medium to severe with you being woken up in the night as you describe. Some people can throw up and feel okay but I think the severity of the sickness depends on how you feel in yourself if that makes sense.

I felt like crap probably 5/7 days but then wasn't hospitalised so I'd say I was 'ok' it has put me off having a second and it does scare me...

I hope yours subsides soon Biscuit

Sweetyboo · 13/06/2017 22:47

Oh dont ask @sizeofalentil its my 5th pg after 3 mc. OMG its the worse one too. Im 11w now so getting better. But last 2months been pain. Nausea is one thing i was literally sick my 5year old son start to worry for me lol . Im still bloated been like more then 2months now just feel like belly is full & some1 stretching it from inside. Good luck xxx

Emberblu · 13/06/2017 23:23

I'm 22 weeks now and still feel sick a lot with awful reflux and I am off most foods, I probably have 7 safe foods and that is all my diet is... it's soooo boring for a foody like me Grin but it was sooo much worse before, I'd describe my 1st trimester sickness as medium to severe but I was never hospitalized as I kept fluids down and was very slightly overweight before so the weight loss didn't affect me too much.

I would throw up 3-4 Times a day. I ate mainly cocopops as these tasted and felt ok when they came back up (eeew).
I was off every food, nothing was appetizing and the thought of most stuff made me gag. I survived on veg cuppa soups and cereal Grin
The smells!! The smell of my house, the smell of dhs breath, the smell of any food was gag central! I couldn't go into the perfectly clean kitchen without throwing up for weeks!

At the time it was very depressing and it went on until about 17weeks. I feel I slowly got better and now I am at the level of mild sickness. I have even eaten proper meals over the past week! I don't think I'll be 'well' until baby makes its appearance but this is tolerable so there is hope for those feeling sick!

Oh the worst thing is people suggesting ginger as if I hadn't tried EVERYTHING Wink

Natsku · 14/06/2017 10:52

I'm off most foods too. For a while I was eating tacos with fresh salsa so almost a proper food but now I can't bear the thought of them so am stuck with just Skyr fromage frais type things, melon, and satsumas. At least I'm getting lots of fruit in this diet but I can't bear the thought of meat or green veggies so my iron levels are probably down, my haemoglobin levels are a little low (104)

I hate the feeling of nausea, throwing up makes me feel a little better (except I wet myself every time despite doing kegals four times a day!). Oddly I'm better in the mornings and worse in the evenings - backwards baby!

moggle · 14/06/2017 11:01

I'd say those of you puking more than once a day are severe- good if you are managing to keep fluids down though.
I had no nausea at all with DD (2.5 now) but early days here (7wks) and I've felt really awful every day since a week after doing the test. Only puked once but have never ending diarrhoea until lunchtime it's horrid! Turns out it's twins so that explains that.

I usually crawl out of bed, take DD to nursery, come home and sleep for another hour or two before finding something tiny to eat that I can cope with and then go to work. Then I just eat crisps, biscuits and grapes all day because I'm too tired to leave work to find lunch and the canteen food is vile. Thank goodness for understanding bosses. If it's not a work day I put Lion King on and DD plays dollies and covers me in blankets on the sofa. I cannot wait til this eases up. Massive respect to those of you having this all through your pregnancies xxx

Mandraki · 14/06/2017 17:57

I had daily nausea with no vomiting up until 11 weeks, with food aversions lasting until about 16 weeks. Having a girl if that helps anyone!

Kittysparks1 · 14/06/2017 18:21

At 6 weeks I started to be sick, by 7 weeks I wasn't eating or drinking had been signed off work and diagnosed with hg. I couldn't wash/walk/smell anything without being violently ill. I ended up signed off work and on 2 types of anti sick meds that stopped me being sick and I could then keep water down but the nausea didn't go until 17 weeks. But I'm lucky it went away. And I'm lucky I didn't end up in hospital. Like many other ladies. I'm now 29 weeks and feeling good. And eating like a trooper! I will never get pregnant again after this that's for sure!

Sweetyboo · 14/06/2017 18:41

@sizeofalentil i get literly dick every other day but nausea most morning & days

Oysterbabe · 14/06/2017 19:28

I'm impressed that you have the energy for dick every other day, it's much rarer than that in this house.

Sweetyboo · 14/06/2017 19:44

@Oysterbabe OMG LOLSICK I MEAN SICK😂😂😂😂😂

Sweetyboo · 14/06/2017 19:44

How can to delete it lol so embracing

Sweetyboo · 14/06/2017 19:45

OMG WTF so embarrassing

UnbornMortificado · 14/06/2017 19:46

25 weeks. Still vomiting, today has been bad vomited out my nose and wee'd a little at the same time. Beautiful it was.

I'm counting down the days. This is my 5th pregnancy and my first with HG I used to think people exaggerated. They don't and I was a twat to think that.

peachgreen · 15/06/2017 09:03

I think mine would be described as mild by anyone else but I'm hating every minute of it! I start feeling sick at 9.30am and then it doesn't stop until I go to sleep. And in fact when I wake up in the night I usually feel a bit sick too. I retch about a thousand times a day but am usually only sick once or twice. But EVERYTHING makes me feel more sick - walking, moving my head, being too hot, being too cold, being in the car (oh it's the worst), smells... No real food aversions yet but because I'm overweight I'm trying hard not to eat more than usual so I can't nibble to keep the sickness at bay which sucks as it's the only thing that helps. I basically have to wait until I can't bear it any more and then eat a cracker! 7+5 today so still a long way to go.

I was sick constantly from weeks 6-11 - often up to ten times a day. When spoke to midwife about it at booking in, she said we'll do you need to go into hospital? I was like erm no I don't think so and that was it, no alternatives offered! It has got better now - a couple times a day but ongoing nausea. Still v restricted diet and I do find it gets worse when I am stressed/upset!

Oddsocksforeveryone · 15/06/2017 10:16

I'm 20 weeks and have only just stopped taking pills a few days ago to stop sickness and so far so good.
I started being sick before I knew I was pregnant, but I found out late at maybe 8 weeks?
I'm having a boy. I had a girl last year and was sick an awful lot, up to 20 times a day in the guest 4 months but also a lot of dry wretching. The difference this time has been the volume tmi so whereas I would say I felt worse when I was having my daughter last year when I seemed to throw up the food, this time I had been losing all my fluids which caused me more medical problems. The first week of sickness was so intense I thought I had a bug, I was uncontrollably sick all over the landing the day it started. I can honestly say this is my 4th pregnancy and I don't think I'd experienced anything like the morning (all day) sickness I have had this time.
I hope everyone feels better soon

Sweetyboo · 15/06/2017 10:19

Im 12w today & still sick. I also had big gush of bleeding yesterday which stressed me. Scan today fingers crossed

Oddsocksforeveryone · 15/06/2017 10:23

Just realised it's technically my 6th. And 3 of them I had no morning sickness.
@Kate if you're still struggling try just calling your gp and asking for a telephone appointment, I did that and when I told him what was going on he prescribed pills straight away with no fuss, just asked for a urine sample.

Firstimefreaked · 15/06/2017 11:35

I was NV from 8 weeks until about 16 everyday 3 or 5 times a day (so much fun!) and then rarely sick for another 2 weeks, I ended up eating second time friendly foods lol couldn't eat fruit for breakfast especially kiwi as that lead to a horrific outside green incident where I was ill several times walking back from the shop where a pleasant woman called me a drunk disgusting animal....cheers!... I ate a lot of crackers couldn't go on buses as I already got travel sickness etc couldn't stand diary at all either. Sometimes feel NV again now at 30 weeks but pretty fine tbh I'm having a girl :) good luck ladies I hope it gets better X X X

ThatGirl82 · 15/06/2017 11:48

I am now just over 21 weeks and feeling amazing. But from week 7-14 I had pretty much constant nausea throughout the day and could only eat very plain, beige coloured food. I only threw up about 3-4 times and this was usually because I let my stomach get empty. I had to eat about every two hours otherwise it would get a lot worse. I generally felt fine during the night and for the first half hour after waking, then it would creep up and last all day until I went to bed.

I would class my sickness as medium because I felt so awful, but some people might consider mine to be mild.... I think we all have different thresholds and experience things differently so it's hard to say. I do feel very lucky that it passed at 14 weeks though as I know some people have it throughout and I can't imagine if I was still suffering with it!

Natsku · 15/06/2017 14:33

I'm feeling much better today for some reason, which is strange as only 7+5
