Which pram???

My mum and dad have said that I can have any pram I want but I haven't got much idea which one to get. (First grandchild and all - they are very excited!) I started off liking the Ziko ones, then moved onto Maclaren's and then I saw the Stokke. My mum likes the Stokke and so do I but it's so expensive! Is it worth the money or would I be better getting one of the others. I don't go off road, don't use public transport and so it'll mainly be used in the Trafford Centre and other shopping areas.
Any ideas please?

what are your requirments with a buggy really? rear facing important or not? carry cot? just a stroller?

are you going to be using public transport at all ever? how big is your car boot? whats your stoprage space like?

I have a quinny and am not that thrilled. Its the speedi and the tyres aren't standard size so we are stuffed if it punctures, they are still huge when folded and have a really wide wheel base which makes it difficult in shops. Also, when sitting up, the seat is still quite reclined and if the child has been asleep in reclined position, its really hard to put them upright. However, it is the only pram my lo has nodded off in and it does seem really comfy.

Wow, that was quick! I'd like a buggy that is rear facing and I'd prefer one that was a little higher off the ground than your average stroller. Can keep it in the conservatory and I never use public transport. I've got a Polo with a diddy boot but I'm going to fold back a section of the seats so space isn't too much of an issue.

Bugaboo! Bugaboo Frog. Buy used. Everyone I've met (and I ask pretty much everyone I come across) LOVES theirs. Used will still be expensive as they have a high resale value. It will still have a high resale value when you get rid of yours...

its best to go to somewhere where you can see the prams on display like mothercare,toys r us etc have a look and get a feel for them you dont want to buy a pram they realise you hate it!

borrow a toddler and push them in the prams as well.

something that pushes well with anewborn in it can be hell with a larger child. if people eye up my bugaboo when pram shopping i let them push it around with dd3 in it, bags etc as well. (purse keys are always in my pocket)

you say you don't go off road but what about when you go for walks in the wood or the park? can be hell with your standard buggy.

we also have the mutsy 3 rider but it has a tiny basket and you have to take the hood off to fold it up.

Mmmmm, don't really do anywhere that doesn't involve tarmac. Don't go for walks in woods now and don't do parks unless there's a country house in the grounds. I'll want to go round city centres in it, eg: York and Manchester, but that's as outsdoorsy as I get!

Have a think about narrowing the field. Do you want 3 or 4 wheels, do you want a full handle bar or 2 handles, do you want front swivel wheels or fixed, do you want a pram that turns into a pushchair or will you want to seperate items? If you are a shopper (haha, I said if) do you want a big basket with it, how tall are you, do you need an extendable handlebar???? I would certainly advise you to narrow field then steal, sorry I mean borrow, someones child to try out the ones you like. Pushchairs are FAB

I've got a Hercules 6-spin and really love it. Only down side is huge wheels (which I occasionally run people over with) and is big folded, but I can get it in my boot which is small. I love it because the pushchair bit (it also can come with a carrycot) can face forward and away and it is great to push, very smooth, great suspension.

If money no object I'd say go for a bugaboo
I've yet to meet anyone who didn't love theirs and the resale is v good

Stokke is a freaky one imho - they just look like they are going to topple over!

so you're not going to take your child to the woods or the park. i reckon they'll have other ideas!

am having visions of them dragging you down the street to the park now pmsl!

if you are planning more tan 1 child you will soon be unable to fold seats down...

for the original posted nappyaddict. says she will be folded a back seat down so ample room.

by the way i know someone who has a bugaboo and hates it because it doesn't fold down with the seat on and the seat is quite small.

I've just posted saying that I don't like my bugaboo as you can't fold it with the seat on it. Also putting it away when dirty is a real pain and I can't manage to do it without gettin filthy myself.

Got it off Gumtree for £400 brand new so cheaper than the shops though

I had a Polo and ended up getting a bigger car as it is not just the pushchair you have to fit in but after a while you end up with arm bands, balls, trikes, pushchair, weeks worth of grocery shopping and another child or two

yes but if she had another child, then surely they would probably want/need something bigger than a polo and would get a bigger car anyway?in fact i don't know that many parents of even one child with a small car. they often start out with one and then get an estate/saloon/mpv.

OOh what about a silver cross coach built pram? wonderful - would put a smile on your mum & dad's face too.
