Huey?? I've always had a huge crush on the lead singer of The Fun Lovin Crimials HUey Morgan so probably a huge influence but my MIL & SIL pulled a funny face!!

I want something uncommon as my DD's name is fast heading towards the top ten girls names and it annoys me to hear her name everwhere i go and want to avoid a similar situation without being ridiculous and yes i am aware Donald Duck has a son/nephew (can't remember) of the same name but what do you reckon??

I like Huw ( welsh spelling ) over Hugh and think Huey is a great nickname but your ds may like a more serious name in later life?

I wanted Bo rather than Beau for my ds.

Arlo, Arno and Aldo great names even if one is cheap italian shoe shop.

To go with Harrison umm

love Hugo, Gene, Eden, Carter, Otis, Tex or Louis

whatabout Harvey or Donny, Dougie (Douglas), Teddy
(Theodore)

of course my fav name is Leon but I'm not sure it would work with Harrison to many 'nn' sounds

best of luck

Lolabelle · 23/03/2007 13:32

I love Bo & Beau but i missed the boat first time round, believe me if i thought i could use it as a first i would but its too much of a tongue twister and sounds like a porn stars name!! Love Arlo but Dh is being a pain and won't even put a maybe next to it, he likes Huey Harrison AND Huey Beau, must say i do agree with giving him a more formal name for when hes older and using Huey as a nickname but i guess we don't just like HUho or hugh enough to actually chosse it as our first boys name if that makes sense??

Love Raffi so thanks for that, we would love to call him Rafferty and use raff as a nickname as i like hem both equally, that cool names for baby book is so helpful and inspiring actually and i did note that again Huey doesn't appear to be ini t so if i'm looking for original i've got it!! I guess if he wanted to be a judge or mp he could always choose to call himself Hugh!!

My DH thinks HUey Harrison sounds like a movie star and i tink he deep down quite likes that but he likes Huey Beau as well as he quite likes the way it looks, i already have an Amelia Mae if this helps -= Amelia wasmn't THAT popeular when i chose it at all so quite gutted now its heading towards being quite common now..

Lolabelle - I must tell you this, even though it'll seem like I'm gloating (well I am a bit - I won't go into too much detail, but....

Huey Morgan was at my best friend's wedding. He was an usher. I was a bridesmaid. He is beside me in the official photographs! Honestly. He is ultra cool. The FLC were all guests and they played a few songs when the wedding band had a break. How cool?

Lolabelle · 24/03/2007 13:18

OH MY GOD - I'd revert to a teenage girl again if i so much had to vene stand near him let alone speak to him!!!! I would blow the photos up (eliminating everyone else of course digitally) and adorn my house with them at every opportunity.

I could just tell he was ultra cool and now you have confirmed it and i will think of him when making my childs name decision so therefore it'll probbaly be Huey!! I will refrain from using Morgan as a middle name as i may seem a tad obsessed but i am truly deeply envious of you and i'm so pleased to hear he was so lovely. God we had a crap dj and a chartered surveyor at my wedding for the music/usher option, how the other half live.....

Huey, Dewey & Louis - Donald Duck's nephews. QUACK...

I don't think he'd thank you for it when he's a teenager.

scorpio1 · 24/03/2007 13:46

lolabelle-i know an Arlo and when people ask his name, they dont 'get it' and she has to repeat it all the time-that would annoy me!

has anyone read/got that book 'Cool names for babys'?

its really good, loads of interesting choices.

fortyplus · 24/03/2007 14:13

ds2 has a 'Beau' in his class - 'Bo' doesn't sound very nice when shouted out by a gobby teenager.

Twinmummyx2 · 24/03/2007 15:38

Boys names are a bit harder...i have 6 of them and it was getting tricker and tricker...mine are...

Callum Jake
Declan Reece
Keenan Luke
Luke Aidan
Jake Harley
Kyran Shay....some are a bit unusual without being too unusual.....

I love the name Zaine..but Darren wouldn't have it..i also like Leo...

It was a lot easier to name my girls!

jdd0709 · 25/03/2007 19:46

Godd grief twinmummy - how many have you got in total then! I am having enough trouble with a name for number 2! wow!

Twinmummyx2 · 26/03/2007 10:47

Only 8...

2 girls, 6 boys...2 sets of twins though so that bumped the number a bit!..lol

fees · 26/03/2007 11:26

Hugh is a great name but my son has a hugh in his class who he calls clue because he cant say it properly! others call him hugh poo and pooey hughie which is not so great. I have a son called Louis and I adore his name but he hates it when people call him pooey louis!! he is always trying to change his name. I liked the name rafferty for him but dh hated it. what do you think of these names:-

Monty (montgomery)
Serge ( not sure myself but very popular with Dads)
Reuben
Sonny (really lovely boy at ds school)
Rufus ( all the boys i know called this have beautiful auburn hair- strange)
Maxime ( max for short)
Boris or Edwin ( i knew twins called that many years ago, they were gorgeous)
Ned
Noah

I will keep thinking Good luck!!!!

marieg76 · 27/03/2007 14:26

the name Hugh is quite nice actually - as long as your surname isn't Jars.

ScottishThistle · 27/03/2007 14:33

Huey, Hugh, Hughie...awful.

I love Arlo!

Twinmummyx2 · 27/03/2007 18:33

[email protected] love you type of people that think up things like that...i am so crap at it......totally makes me laugh...

Twinmummyx2 · 27/03/2007 18:34

i did mean hughjars..see can't even spell a joke!

Eaglebird · 27/03/2007 20:54

I'm not a huey fan, personally.
Huey reminds me of a horrible boy who used to go to my school. Or Hughie Green. Or the slang term for being sick.

Beau is a gorgeous middle name!! We are having Felix Beau if our little one is a boy :)

I love Hugo too... not Hugh or Huey though I'm afraid :S But really it's your child, it's not a cruelly stupid name and you should call him what you feel you love best - better than having name regrets because you were too scared to go with what you really love.

My mum loves Felix but my sister was like Hmm. Each to their own!
