I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

That's a great image onnatures, that's exactly what the wee blighters have installed in there

Hollyhop17 · 01/06/2017 21:55

Evening all, sorry I've been so quiet. Had a relatively good couple of days, topped off by some good news today. The hospital rang me and took my second lot of readings over the phone. They have now confirmed I dont have gestational diabetes. Obviously I'm thrilled about this, but I am angry at what they put me through and how it, at the time, really affected my bond with my baby.

I was also told yesterday I can be induced between week 38-39. So he will be born between the 5 and 12 of July. I can happily say my baby will be born next month! I am SO looking forward to this being over. I really hope I am one of those for whom it ends immediately once the placenta is out...

Welcome back Lemon, glad you had a good time. I'm jealous you've fit in a babymoon!

Waves to everyone else. Flossy, 'glad' the symptoms are back. Fingers crossed everything is just fine.

Lemondrop99 · 01/06/2017 22:49

Yaaaaaay Holly! So much good news there for you! I'm so pleased and excited for you 😁

NonStopDisco · 02/06/2017 00:11

Holly, that's really good news!

Melleebacca · 02/06/2017 00:31

Holly - great news! Just remember that after labour, the exertion and pain meds may make you throw up your first meal, so don't panic if you're not completely better instantly. DD was born at 6am, and I threw up the toast they gave me at 8am, but I scoffed down lunch at 11.30 and it was the best meal ever.

Deaddoor - you will get period like cramps quite often in pregnancy. At the beginning it's the uterus stretching and at the end it's the body getting ready for labour. Generally in the beginning, only worry if it's accompanied by bleeding.

David -just thinking to come on here and ask for help with your wife is the sign of a very good husband. Keep it up, your wife and relationship will be stronger because of how well you're working as a team through this difficult time.

Bad couple of days here mentally. I'm ok as long as nothing else goes wrong. Yesterday I got told off for having my dog on the prohibited playground while I rescued my DD from a wasp. Burst into tears when I got home. As if it's not enough that I'm faking being a real human at the moment.

NonStopDisco · 02/06/2017 01:20

Just a late night thought- does anyone else have a list of food that they'd really love to eat, but for the moment are off limits because of the sickness? Mine is spaghetti bolognese- but made by me, which I can't do at the moment because the smell of cooking makes me ill, and it makes me tired to stand at the cooker

Melleebacca · 02/06/2017 07:14

NonStop - spaghetti and meatballs will be my first home cooked meal after giving birth. First food will definitely be chocolate.

pippanippa · 02/06/2017 07:24

Great news Holly!

Nonstop, I have a few: pate (well I guess that was off anyway because of pregnancy generally), steak (can't go near the stuff at the moment, the smell!). The big one though is a chinese take away.

Does anyone have tips for a very sore throat? had a particularly bad series of vomiting last night and my throat is now very painful - bleeding a bit and feel like I constantly have a lump in my throat. Obviously have ice lollies, but can't stand the thought of honey which would be my usual go-to throat remedy. Ouch, help!

pippanippa · 02/06/2017 07:27

Oh and sorry about the playground shenanigans Mellee, if it helps at all I get the waterworks whenever anything goes wrong, I cried the other day when I couldn't open a bottle of pepsi in the fridge (I really really needed that pepsi!), I definitely couldn't handle being shouted at!

Melleebacca · 02/06/2017 08:13

Pippa - how does custard or yoghurt sound? The thickness and cold was quite soothing to me. Can't eat it anymore but loved it when I could.
Sorry to hear about the Pepsi bottle, it's so upsetting when you can't do the simple things in life.

cantdothisagain2017 · 02/06/2017 09:31

Think I posted on the old thread by mistake
I need some help I'm so sick I'm 6 weeks and had HG pregnancies previously I feel dreadful
Cyclizine and prochlorperazine didn't agree with me in the past.
I need some advice I'm getting so panicky

OnNaturesCourse · 02/06/2017 09:35

When you projectile sick and your ill DP has to drive you into work... Happy Friday 😫 Morning blues xx

Oklahoma · 02/06/2017 09:58

Cant have you tried ondansetron? There are quite a few of us on here doing this again so you are not alone. It sucks. Go and see your GP and tell them what didn't work last time and that you need ondansetron and hopefully that will help. I presume since you've done this before you know to watch for dehydration? Hang on in there

LucindaE · 02/06/2017 10:10

Welcome to cantdothisagain. Sorry you feel so foul. I so agree with others, see if you can ask for Ondansetron and pre-emptive meds for the constipation it causes, and an anti acid. As you are a veteran, I don't need to ask if you have kesostix, or if you have tried flat full sugar coke, ice lollies, Elderflower Water the juice and fruit of tinned peaches or pears etc etc.Do you have childcare facilities in place or supportive relatives/friends to hand?
Hollyhop Great news! Grin. The chances are overwhelmingly that you will be one of the 99 per cent for whom the sickness vanishes shortly after the birth.

Hi cant, second timer here too, its awful. Do go to your GP early, there's definitely other options out there as Oklahoma said.

Feeling very sorry for myself this morning, sitting here with my bucket wondering how on earth I'm going to be able to go and pick up my little one from playgroup without fainting - a bus journey where there's usually no way to sit down with a buggy and it's hot. 2 attempts at breakfast didn't stay down, nor did dinner last night, nor has medicine, so it's likely to be another fun weekend. Sorry, just fed up now.

Mellee thanks for the tips, can't manage yoghurt, but I could give custard a try, need to have a rummage in the cupboard to see if we have any.

David42 · 02/06/2017 10:22

hi cant
i can realate to u as my wife is bad and is now in hospital being rehydrated again after a severe attack of the sickness in the last two day s so bad her key tones were 4+ last night and another 3am bed ready for work at 5am this morning i really wish this would pass her by now as she was so bad last night and was really upset thank god shes a bit better this morning when i called the ward but for how long no one knows

BetweenMeAndTheBallotbox · 02/06/2017 10:42

I happened across this thread and although it's been a good while now, I'm still scarred by a HG pregnancy. Glad to see you have much more support now. I was prescribed anti emetic suppositories and I'm curious that you don't appear to have those now? It doesn't make sense to take oral drugs if they can't stay down long enough to take effect!
Good luck with everything. I stopped at one!!

cantdothisagain2017 · 02/06/2017 12:55

I'm going to go to the gp this afternoon I feel so dreadful
Yes I have coke and juice, lollies etc and the ketostix. I feel so awful it's just come in so badly in the last few days and they're I was last week thinking oh no I feel ok something must be wrong....
prochlorperazine was awful for me it made me have muscle spasms and facial twitching and I felt worse. Cyclizine just knocked me out and I need to be conscious to look after the kids
It's half term and dh works long hours so not getting much help although I'm hoping my mum will pop over when I go to the gp

cantdothisagain2017 · 02/06/2017 13:01

The other (minor) problem I had too was we had wanted to keep this pregnancy quiet till at least 12 weeks-how on earth can I do that as i can't stop being sick?? Everyone will know and it's so early still but I'm going to need the help

HaichM · 02/06/2017 14:10

Holly: finally read your blog post. The prison metaphor is perfect. I'm so glad to hear about the induction and the GD news. It must be such a relief!

Can't: I wasn't really able to keep this pregnancy that quiet either as we needed to tell people so we could ask for help or because I ended up in hospital. I'm sorry I don't have much advice re: meds except to definitely keep trying different ones and different combinations to hopefully find something that helps. Ondansetron really helped with my vomiting (I went down to 1-3x a day) but did nothing for the nausea and does cause constipation and headaches as side effects. I hope you get something soon and your GP is one of the supportive and helpful ones.

Hope everyone else's day is going OK.

Lemondrop99 · 02/06/2017 15:57

Ergh, not a great day today. Feel knocked flat. Stupidly took a promethazine at 11am and was zonked by lunchtime. Ended up having to log off as I couldn't function. I don't know how I'm ever going to get back into the office at this rate 😕

LucindaE · 02/06/2017 16:39

BetweenMeAndTheBallotBox Hello, thanks for your supportive post I have known some sufferers to be given suppository anti emetics, and indeed, you are right; why not? Are they more expensive the other way? It used to be the case that they were more readily available in France. Can't be so these days. As I believe Lemondrop is a nurse, she might be able to say?
can'tdothisagain2017 Much sympathy. It is very hard for those with LO's. I am glad you are going to the dr's and have the famous sticks and tinned fruit and coke at the ready...It's a pest; a lot of sufferers have to tell at least their line manager and close family and friends; others, claim its a vague 'stomach disorder' but people must guess...
Hollyhop Again, congratulations. I will find the Due Dates list later and update it.
pippanippa I do hope you made it to the playgroup on the bus without mishap. That must have been awful.
HaichM I so agree with you and Hollyhop and Lemondrop may have touched on it. Certainly, Hyperemesis is like being given a prison sentence for by accident, and without time off for good behaviour.

flossyfloss I am so glad that you had that as reassurance, anyway!
Sorry peopole having bad days. Lemondrop you are doing fine just battling on and doing what you can. Work should be grateful for that, says Mother Hen.

Afternoon everyone. Despite being on 8mg Ondansatron twice/day I've gone down hill. This past day or 2 I've had a strong aversion to eating anything and especially fluids :-( at what point do I need to be concerned about dehydration? The last pregnancy, I was vomiting so much it was obvious. Today I've vomited twice and managed to keep down a piece of toast.
