Hello! Rejoining thread after mc in April.

I must say very tentatively - I'm going a little mad as my first 3 days of tests didn't darken (frer) and were a little later at 12 dpo than previous pregnancies (where I've clearly been spoilt). I'm suspecting a chemical but so far nothing. Probably tempting fate but I want to enjoy rather than worry!

It's also lovely to see some new arrivals! Congratulations teabag! And lovely to see many of you still going strong.

I'm 40 and probably only just gone 4 weeks. I'm not going to test again till Friday. Alibaba2 mentioned someone here who hadn't had lines getting darker in the early days.

This thread does always give me hope it's possible :) I sometimes bob back to see what's going on!

Ekphrasis · 20/06/2017 13:39

I've just read the thread and I was so sorry to read about greedy, brugs and weas as I remember chatting to them.

But, congratulations on your return weas! Gives me hope if this doesn't stick.

Congratulations to mightmouse too!

I'm too scared to poas. It's seriously cured me if my addiction. I'd rather assume all is well till I start spotting.

weasledee · 20/06/2017 14:30

Welcome back Ekphrasis! And congratulations!
I took my a while to stop poas too! It's definitely like an addition, although when the morning sickness kicked in I finally knew I no longer needed the sticks!! Ha! :)

Ekphrasis · 20/06/2017 14:38

Thanks weas! May I ask if anyone knows if there's any issue ttc right after a chemical? I'm really not convinced this is going to last.

Shortbread74 · 20/06/2017 15:24

Congrats Teabag! It must be wonderful to have him there in the flesh. I hope your recovery from the c section goes well.

And great news Weasledee about the scan. I think its such a boost to see a heartbeat. Very happy for you.

Welcome Asere. Incidentally I'm 42 (nearly 43 at due date) and also expecting my first.

Shortbread74 · 20/06/2017 15:26

Ekphrasis, welcome back. Am really hoping this is not a CP but in the unfortunate event that it is (I had one in September), I was told to start trying immediately.

Fingers crossed that this will be irrelevant information.

weasledee · 20/06/2017 16:02

I got pregnant the first month of trying and then had a miscarriage at 5 weeks. 10 days later I ovulated and I got pregnant with this one, now 8 weeks. So, it can happen and I'm 41! :)

PingusMistress · 20/06/2017 19:19

Welcome @AsereT123 , great to have a due date buddy! Congratulations on your pregnancy. Are you finding out if you are having a boy or a girl?

Also welcome back @Ekphrasis , really hope this isn't a CP for you and you get to hang out here a bit longer this time.

Lovely news about the scan @weasledee Smile

weasledee · 20/06/2017 20:19

Thanks pingus :)

Teabagtits · 21/06/2017 01:23

Congrats on positive tests and positive scans.

Just a wee update, we're back in hospital as baby has jaundice. It's been hard returning to hospital schedules and I've felt huge amounts of pressure around feeding. I've had a lot of help re: breastfeeding so finally have him latched on but it's not exclusive at the mo as my sanity won't cope with that.

Thanks for the well wishes people. Best of luck to everyone still waiting for their babies to be born.

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/06/2017 17:18

@teabagtits, i did mixed feeding,best thing i ever did :)

Ekphrasis · 21/06/2017 20:03

Apologies, shortest pregnancy ever!

Negative test today and cramps this afternoon. So a chemical I guess?

I say cramps, it feels more like contractions like my mc. Ive asked on the ttc after mc thread; AIBU to take tomorrow off? This is not just a period and I can't really take breaks when teaching all day.

I might try again this month so hope to be back soon!

Ekphrasis · 21/06/2017 20:05

Teabag, sorry to hear that. I had that with ds. I started hand and then pump expressing and we had bm top ups after a day of ff top ups. Call the Nct bf help line or the la leche league for advice. Don't over pump like I did or you'll have a very windy baby! Only what they'll take.

Shortbread74 · 21/06/2017 20:58

Hi Ekphrasis, I'm so sorry to hear this news. I hope you can take the day off and give yourself time to recover physically and mentally. My own experience was that trying immediately was the best therapy. After my CP I did bi monthly acupuncture and also took 600mg of ubiquinol every day and maybe that's what made a difference for me this time. hope to see you back here very soon.

weasledee · 21/06/2017 21:25

Sorry to hear that Ekphrasis, hopefully you will be back with us very soon! Flowers

Ekphrasis · 21/06/2017 21:59

Thanks short and weas.

I take ubiquinol as does dh, it's only been 2 months though.

My worry is that it's dh - he's very sociable. He has had several 40ths plus 4 huge things professionally that required celebrating (being truthful, not bitchy) plus joint friend's dos and a boozy holiday after the first mc. It's basically been - drunk with hang over every other weekend for at least the last 3 months. He doesn't drink during the week, and maybe only half a bottle of wine on non celebrating wkends. But I feel it's too much? Or am I ott?

Right now he just found out he's won a very prestigious prize. A national newspaper want to do a wkend article. He's out with his team/ colleagues. I'm suddenly feeling resentful.

CC75 · 24/06/2017 00:56

Hi, new here, trying to have a baby at age 41. Would love to hear some success stories. My story, have never tried for a baby before now, never met the right person before now. Fertility aligns to age, so low ovarian reserve. Met my forever partner at 39, we've just agreed to start ivf X

CC75 · 24/06/2017 01:01

Not quite sure how to choose a fertility clinic for ivf. It will be a first cycle at age 41. Do I go with the best rated (ARGC) or do I use a cheaper alternative do deduce what fertility issues I could have before i go to them?

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/06/2017 08:21

Have you had any tests done such as amh and fsh
Will you get one go on the NHS?

Depends on your budget tbh

Abroad is def cheaper

Monkeypuzzle32 · 24/06/2017 08:36

Can I join in? I'm way older than most of you at 48! 😕 I'm 14w1 after a failed IVF and a CP in December, it's a weird feeling thinking you might actually get what you've always dreamed of at this late age but I'm fretting about being judged because of my age and any negative comments!

For the ladies asking about IVF clinics my only advice would be to go private rather than via an NHS clinic (we did but self funded) but they are so slow compared to a private clinic and at over 40 you don't have the time to waste .

Ginlinessisnexttogodliness · 24/06/2017 09:38

Congratulations to the newcomers, @Monkeypuzzle32 that's just fantastic news. So pleased for you.
@weasledee so glad your scan went well 😊 and sorry to hear that your pregnancy didn't get off the ground @Ekphrasis Hope very much to see you back here soon.
@Teabagtitshow is mini tea now, and is the jaundice improving? My son had a tiny touch due to horrendous misdiagnosed tongue tie but we just escaped hospital. My sister was in with her first and she was really stressed. Like @Blondeshavemorefun she just did mixed feeding from outset and all was well.

@CC75 Best of luck with conceiving. I have no experience of ivf all my three were big surprises - weelmone a d three were - but wanted to,wish you the very best of luck. And make sure you have lots of fun trying alongside ivf I guess?!

I'm 20+1 today and have an active little pickle in there.
On holiday and could murder a g & t 🙈

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/06/2017 11:33

Congrats @monkeypuzzle

I've worked for a lady who was 49 and preg with twins tho ivf de

Age is only a number

weasledee · 24/06/2017 13:59

Congrats monkey and welcome cc75!
No experince of fertility treatment but there's plenty of us "geriatric mums" on here so there's definitely very much hope! Smile

Monkeypuzzle32 · 24/06/2017 14:13

Thank you ladies, it means so much not to be judged-my MIL has made a few age related comments which upset me as I'm sure she doesn't approve but it's very much s joint decision (and last chance) for me and my husband (her son) -it's not as if I chose to wait till now!
Anyway thanks for your kind wishes again x

Monkeypuzzle32 · 24/06/2017 14:15

Just to add, the biggest reason for treatment wasn't age related but a fertility issue that I was belated diagnosed with.
