👋🏼 Hi all, night shift is on.
So I have a mini mighty in my arms-he arrived last Wednesday by ELCS due to placenta preavia and GD, and he is so beautiful.
I've also gone mental with the sleep deprivation and total anxiety on my part, and feeding issues, wind and sleeping issues on his part!! This is so intense!!

Teabagtits ...countdown!! Have you had a section before? If not I can give you some little tips for recovery that might be useful

Hope all is well with everyone else x

Teabagtits · 18/05/2017 01:32

Congratulations mightymouse I have such awful insomnia right now I look forward to getting sleep when baby is here, even if it is just an hour or so.... and I'll have something to do when I'm awake through the night.

I have had a section but more than happy to receive tips as it was nearly 8 years ago and I was in a state of shock at this human appearing!

rabbitstail · 18/05/2017 06:45

Congratulations ladies!

I had a section 16 years ago with my first. I was fine after mine, up and about and getting in with things. I can't image that being the case at my ago though! Just take it easy and let your body heal. Enjoy your babies xx

PingusMistress · 18/05/2017 13:56

Congratulations @mightymouse76 , and well done! Your description of the first few days of parenthood really reminds me of when I had DD, intense is a very good word for it! Hoping things will be a bit more chilled second time around but I doubt it.

I had my 16 week midwife appointment and finally got my NT results, 1:320 for downs. So it is officially low risk, but still feels a wee bit on the high side to me? Can I ask what results others got?

On the plus side I got to listen to the heartbeat and baby kicked at the same time, so I both heard and felt it. That was pretty cool!

Gizmojo · 18/05/2017 17:13

Congratulations, mightymouse, that's lovely news!

Congratulations mightymouse hope you are recovering well from the surgery and that all the stressful stuff settles down soon so you can really enjoy spending time with your son without all the worries.

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/05/2017 18:26

Congrats @mighty mouse 💙👶🏼💙

Iusuallylovecake · 20/05/2017 07:56

Congratulations mighty lovely news!

mightymouse76 · 20/05/2017 09:29

Thanks so much everyone- it's been lovely to be on this thread and I'm heartened at how busy it's got recently. I know I'm only 10 days in but would love to try for another next year!! I'll be approaching 42 then, which judging by your experiences shouldn't rule me out...

So the boy is finally sleeping in his cot!!! 🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾
There aren't the emojis to express how relieved I am. It did cost me a sleepyhead and spare cover but christ on a bike, worth its weight in gold... I've had...about 4, maybe even 5 hours sleep last night in little pieces? Luxury!!!! I'm also considering shares in infacol.

My sister came over yesterday and cleaned and organised my kitchen. A simple but massively significant help. We even ventured out the bedroom and ate dinner down there (boy in sleepyhead on table). I felt boerderline human again!! I even sent a work email (I went into hospital early and didn't quite handover properly to my assistant, the poor thing just got abandoned mid projects! Confused)

@PingusMistress sorry I'm a bit out the loop but was this the standard NHS test? I think my NHS test was around that, but I doubled up with Harmony and the results were one in less than 10,000 on that. I'll check my paperwork today (if I can find it).

@Teabagtits ahh, I'm sure you'll breeze through in that case! I'll post a couple of things that saved me anyway just in case things have changed...

Have a great Saturday everyone

Ps who's due next, is it you teabag? Anyone else close behind?

Teabagtits · 20/05/2017 11:19

Im hoping my sleep improves once baby is here! It did with dd and the insomnia is just as bad this time. At least I'll be used to it if he doesn't sleep.

There should be a graduation thread for those who've given birth to keep in touch.

@mightymouse76 -I'm sure there's someone before me. I have a section provisionally booked for 21st June. Eeeek.

Iusuallylovecake · 20/05/2017 12:04

mighty can I ask what a sleepyhead is?? Have a feeling I ought to know but really no idea!! I've a feeling I'm getting near the top of the due list. 37 weeks . . . Shock

mightymouse76 · 20/05/2017 14:14

@Iusuallylovecake it's a very expensive horseshoe shaped pillow! John Lewis stock them. Works as a kind of cot reducer and I guess- here's a pic. Makes them feel more secure- mine wants to be held and this, (I'm guessing) recreates that feeling a bit. The great thing about it is you can lug it round the house. I'm standing in my kitchen whilst baby sleeps on the kitchen table in it Grin

Iusuallylovecake · 20/05/2017 16:21

Thanks mighty had no idea such things existed!!!! He's gorgeous!!! What a little cutie! Hopefully the pillow will mean you can get some rest as well!

PingusMistress · 20/05/2017 21:04

Thanks for the sleepyhead tip @mightymouse76 , I've been debating whether to get one due to the price but sounds like it is worth it!
Yes it was the standard NHS NT test I had but don't bother digging out your paperwork, you have FAR more important things to do! He is totally gorgeous by the way Smile

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/05/2017 21:08

I don't use sleepyheads. It gets them fooled they are being cuddled /snuggied and once they grow out of it then problems can start (sorry)

But know it gives some sanity and sleep

But I do love and use (as you do) swaddle me blankets

Best thing ever :)

mightymouse76 · 20/05/2017 21:32

@Blondeshavemorefun i hear you... I read I might have sleepyhead weaning issues later but I was about to lose the plot so have tossed the dice on this one!
The swaddle me is amazing! A friend turned up with it a few days ago and it seems to do the trick as boy can wriggle out if the non Velcro ones (or I'm just crap at swaddling Grin)

Blondes funnily enough I was browsing mumsnet archives on colic and found an old post from you 8 years ago!! you mentioned you might nannied- was that you?
I'm asking as I'm interested in that as a back up if I slide a bit psychologically what with the lack of sleep, and wondered if you knew of any reputable london agencies to go to? Long shot but thought it worth asking here first as I trust you lot ; )

Hope your LO is doing super well

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/05/2017 21:56

weasledee · 21/05/2017 09:09

Hi all, can I join, again? :)
Was here last month but had early miscarriage, so here I am again, 4 weeks today. So much for age being against us to conceive!
So very nervous but already started with mild morning sickness! I had hyperemis with my other 2 DC so no surprise really :)
Due date: 28th Jan 2018

Huge congratulations @mightymouse76 and what a scrumptious baby you've had!

I'm fifteen weeks now and rapidly expanding.
Hope everyone is well x

weasledee · 21/05/2017 22:33

Thanks ladies :)

Shortbread74 · 22/05/2017 16:22

Ladies, I'm sorry for my radio silence. A lot has happened at my end over the last month or so - got married, had my harmony test and my 12 week nuchal scan and am now 14w +1 and would love to be back on this thread.

Firstly, congratulations mightymouse, he is so cute!! And weasel congratulations!

PingusMistress, my own risk results under the Harmony test were not dissimilar to yours and the consultant at Fetal Medicine Centre told me it was a good outcome and not to worry. I was told the same thing by my NHS obstetrician at my 12 week nuchal scan.

Bella, I'm sure you must be extremely worried. Can you push your obstetrician to do further scans to ascertain if something can be diagnosed without and amnio and also ask him/her to give you definitive guidance on whether an amnio is needed? Also, have you considered going for some private anomaly scans with places like the fetal medicine centre (if you're close to or in London)? I had a couple of bad experiences over the last year and have spent an inordinate amount of time reading up on anomalies and chromosomal problems and was told finally by my obstetrician that if everything is ok at the 12 week scan, most issues discovered after that point can be fixed. I hope you get some answers soon, my thoughts are with you.

weasledee · 22/05/2017 16:52

Thanks shortbread and congrats to you too 💍👰🏼😊

weasledee · 22/05/2017 21:25

Looking for reassurance! I've got period type pains and mild back ache, even typing that sounds really bad! Hoping that someone can tell me they had the same early on and it was all ok......
