Alb I can't imagine what you're going through. You seem so strong. I'm glad you're getting the support and monitoring this deserves.

Has anyone has their 16wk appointment at nearer to 15wks? I'll be 15+2 and wondering if I can still get MW to listen in. Just thinking kit might help keep some of my anxiety at bay and I may then be able to hold out until my 20wk scan. who and am I kidding, I'm never going to hold out am I?!

SayItIsntSo1 · 30/03/2017 21:29

Argh, should have checked that, bloody spelling mistakes.

grainmum · 30/03/2017 22:16

Alb sending lots of positive thoughts. Must be so hard for you.

Say I think they probably will listen, just maybe warn you before that it's a bit early and not to panic if they don't hear it quickly . There's somebody here who has had a doppler for a few weeks now, I think roughly at the same stage as us.

Belleende · 30/03/2017 22:35

Oh alb not what you need is it? The others are right it is amazing how well premies do now. I had a friend deliver at 24/25 weeks, I went to visit them in hospital and he was scary small. he is now 8 growing like a weed and bright as a button. The universe owes you some luck right now.
sockportal a pasty with baked beans in is just nasty and wrong. Being up the duff is a poor excuse. This time round boiled eggs and soldiers for me.
legand glad my words were of use. I have been round this merry go round too many times. It is a comfort that my experience is of some use to others.
I am cream crackered and off to bed

knorrig · 30/03/2017 23:03

Oh Alb, I'm sorry you're going through such a tough time, I hope they can give you what you need very soon.

Legend - it's very tough, I totally get how you feel. There were times pre 12 weeks when I felt anxious as I wasn't feeling sick anymore and then happy when I started puking again! Such a crazy time.

Say - I think they'll still listen, you're only just under 16 weeks!

INeedNewShoes · 30/03/2017 23:15

Alb - really sorry to hear that things are not going smoothly. It sounds as though the medical team are on top of things though. I hope the scan tomorrow makes the path from here clearer Flowers

AmyB1986 · 30/03/2017 23:16

Alb sorry you're going through this. Sending you virtual hugs.

Sock enjoy your food. I can't stand beans though even when I'm not pregnant! My pregnant thing is sour and spicy things.

Say they should listen into baby. With dd2 I was 15 week at my 16 week check and they found her hb no problem.

I've had a rough two days but not with myself. My grandad passed away and now my brothers babies are in trouble, twin 2 has a failing placenta and is measuring at 22 weeks instead of 24. They have a big decision to make as to whether to deliver both when needed or let nature take its course with the possibility of having just twin 1 survive. The risk is delivering early they could lose both. So sad for him as these are his first and it's so similar to what I went through with my twins apart from his boys are fraternal and my boys were identical. My mum was crying saying why does it have to happen to both of us, was bad enough it being me 10 years ago with out having my brother losing his own and reliving what happened to me. He had a tough time when I lost my boys, he started having fits through stress!

I have my scan tomorrow too and I'm really really scared now 😪

SayItIsntSo1 · 31/03/2017 07:03

Thank you for the replies. Hopefully she will try to listen.

Amy I hope the scan goes well today. I'll be thinking of you.

Alb I hope things are clearer for you today after your scan.

I have a faff of a day. Want to spend most of it with dd after time away but need to take my car for mot and go to counselling. Hoping we can at least nip out for a babychino together.

INeedNewShoes · 31/03/2017 09:07

Bec - I somehow missed that you'd posted! I hope you're enjoying a restful few days before going in on Monday. Not long now until you'll meet your little one Smile

I'm 34 weeks now and a bit stressed about how I'll manage after the birth. My mum is due to come and stay to support me (as I'm on my own) but she has broken her arm so I don't know how useful she'll be! Baby is still head up too so I may end up having a CS.

NoCatsHere · 31/03/2017 09:21

Oh amy and Alb what terrible stressful times. You both deserve to be cut some slack.
I'm hoping both your scans go well today. Thinking of you both.

AmyB1986 · 31/03/2017 10:11

Leaving for my scan in a min! So nervous I'm shaking! Dh is recording us going there and the whole thing he's all excited but I feel sick with nerves!
Also I'm going to pee myself my bladder is so full 😭

Alb I hope everything goes well for you today
Xx

INeedNewShoes · 31/03/2017 10:15

Good luck Amy - if you take a few breaths with a long exhale that will help to calm you a little bit.

JulyLady7 · 31/03/2017 10:38

Good luck Amy, hope the scan goes well for you!

knorrig · 31/03/2017 10:40

Good luck Amy.

Newshoes - when will you know if you do have to have a CS? Hopefully you won't as that will make the aftercare harder. Try not to worry too much though as you will manage. My mum told me that my dad broke his leg the week I was born and my brother was 20 months old and all over the place but she did it somehow. Have you got close friends nearby you can call on? A tip another friend gave me is have lots of food in freezer so you could start making things now that will be easy to heat up when the time arrives!

INeedNewShoes · 31/03/2017 11:11

Knorrig - I've got an appointment with my consultant on the 13th where a plan will be made. I'd love to think baby will turn but his head seems to be resolutely wedged under my ribs and only ever moves a few centimetres left or right. Stubborn little tyke!

I finish work on the 13th so as long as baby stays put I'll be able to do some cleaning and cooking and will try to be as ready as possible.

INeedNewShoes · 31/03/2017 11:14

Oh and yes, I'm lucky to have lots of supportive friends. The thing is I do want my parents around when baby is born and they live 300 miles away so they'll need to stay here but then that makes it awkward for anyone else to be around to help. I'm in a complete tizzy over this Sad

knorrig · 31/03/2017 11:29

Stick with your original plan...even with a broken arm your mum will still be able to help out.
At my 20 week scan she said I had a low lying placenta so I have a possibility of a CS too but hoping he's moved around and it's moved by then!
28 week growth scan in Monday!

AmyB1986 · 31/03/2017 11:52

Scan went well, baby is measuring bang on lmp 10+5. Looks just like a baby now, all limbs in tact and can see them on the pics. Baby was wiggling and waving.

Hope everyone else is ok xx

knorrig · 31/03/2017 12:05

Fab news Amy!

Alb1 · 31/03/2017 13:59

amy great scan news. And sorry about your brothers babies, such a difficult choice for them.

The scan was rubbish and we're now facing an equally difficult choice, try a procedure (directly injecting the baby with something) to stop the heart and restart it, which carries a 1% chance of instant death, or deliver her, and as she's premature and ill there's also a chance of death. Both ways carry different risks, the needle procedure might not even work, but if it does she's better off, but also if it just outright kills the baby it's game over. Atleast once she's out they can try and resuscitate etc. The doctors are going to chat to each other and hopefully theyl have a solid opinion of what they thinks best, currently it's all on us and it's too hard to decide.

ineed I'd still get your mum down anyway, even one armed parent help is the best type!

sayit fingers crossed they try and listen in for you, it's such a limbo time before you can feel movement in the second trimester, hopefully she can put your mind at rest abit.

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone, il keep you updated

Belleende · 31/03/2017 14:11

alb that is shocking. I am so sorry you are going through this. Nothing can prepare you for having to make those kind of choices. I think asking for a clear medical opinion on the best option is really sensible. You might want to ask about the stats for the person who would perform the needle procedure. How often they have done it, what their success rate is. All the very very best for the weeks ahead

NoCatsHere · 31/03/2017 14:53

alb my god what a choice? i agree with belleende ask for stats, and maybe see if there is some specialist even in another hospital that has done this before? had great success with it? get all the options and opinions laid out clearly before making a decision. We're here for you though - hand holding and many cups of tea!

Alb1 · 31/03/2017 14:59

I no my doctor has done it before, but the condition is so rare that nobody has done it a lot. Problem is the best doctor in the world could do it, but if the heart chooses not to restart none of it makes a difference. Once the baby is out they could do chest compressions etc and probably get it going again. Il quiz her a lot more about it when she comes back later and see what she says

purpleviolet1 · 31/03/2017 16:12

So sorry you are going through this Alb, you sound incredibly brave. Thinking of you and wishing you the very best.

Great news Amy!

Xxbec that's so exciting! Look
Forward to hearing your news on Monday Smile

Ds is 16 days old today. All going ok xx

INeedNewShoes · 31/03/2017 16:48

Alb - I'm really sorry you're faced with this. I would be looking to the medics to prescribe the best course of action so I hope they are able to provide some clear advice in favour of one route over the other Flowers
