Midwife really told me off today. So honestly how many of you carried your maternity notes everywhere with you?

er, yes, of course, all the time. I certainly didn't go away for the weekend when I was 40 weeks and leave them 200 miles away. Oh no.

mrsflowerpot · 28/02/2007 18:23

actually, with the 40 week weekend, dh did look a bit aghast when I told him I'd forgotten them.

oh, and I left them at a client's offices once when I went there straight from an appointment and didn't notice I'd lost them until the bloke rang me up two days later.

popmum · 28/02/2007 18:23

my hubby left them at home when i went into labour, despite them being on the list in RED!!! He was sent home after delivery......

Coolmama · 28/02/2007 18:23

had a lovely dr who told me, in no uncertain terms, that he would be easy about a lot of stuff, but would be mightily pissed off if I didn't have them with me!

donnie · 28/02/2007 18:24

I did for the last 3 or 4 weeks of both pregnancies.

ja9 · 28/02/2007 18:24

didn't know you were meant too...

shouldbedoingsomethingelse · 28/02/2007 18:27

I never gave it a thought, doubt I even took them in for delivery!

If you have a complicated medical history might be worth making an effort I suppose

fruitful · 28/02/2007 18:32

Err, no. With first pg, they didn't have anything on them that I couldn't have told them in 3 minutes anyway.

2nd pg I carried them from 32 weeks, when they warned me that I might haemorrhage.

TheBlonde · 28/02/2007 18:39

Nope never carried them about for preg 1
Now 38 weeks and not carrying them about now either

Tortington · 28/02/2007 18:42

I did, but then I was in and out of hospital with DS1, not all planned in advance so I was very paranoid about having them with me. With DS2 and DD I used to leave them in the car when I went out so they were accessible if I needed them. Even if I hadn't had problems I would still have taken them to every appointment, but would have left them at home in between.

PeachyClair · 28/02/2007 18:53

Yes, but i had a history of problems

Not sure I would otherwise though- esp at 30 weeks

jabuti · 28/02/2007 18:54

i only carry mine when visiting the midwife or gp... errrr.... too big to carry it around!

fryalot · 28/02/2007 18:56

I had great fun buying a new file to put them all in and organising file into "sections" and filing all notes into said sections.

Midwives all knew me as the woman with the "file".

Didn't I go and lose the file a week before dd was born!!!!

shonaspurtle · 28/02/2007 18:57

Right, please would someone else confess to losing theirs.....no? Just me?

fryalot · 28/02/2007 18:58

lost mine, shonaspurtle.

Found them when dd was about six days old. Midwife took them off me.

shonaspurtle · 28/02/2007 18:59

Thank you squonk! Midwife told me I was the only person she'd come across who'd lost them (before she wrote "duplicate" in big letters on the front of the new set so everyone would know).

shonaspurtle · 28/02/2007 19:01

We never worked out what happened to mine. Think dh binned them by mistake...He thinks I did.

DarrellRivers · 28/02/2007 19:03

I'd forgotten you were meant to carry them with you actually, and I used to tell women off for not carrying them at all times when i was a self-righteous junior doc.
Didn't carry them with me at all
They take them away from you at the birth and they get united with your hospital notes. Bit sad really

fryalot · 28/02/2007 19:03

I did bin the concert tickets that dp had waited ten years for.

(managed to get replacements on the night though)

Mrsjaffabiffa · 28/02/2007 19:10

Don't carry mine meggle, Would need a filing cabinet by 40 weeks over here, we have a copy of everything, perscriptions, scan results, mthly blood tests results. I do take it away if I go for a few days though, am off on holiday next week and will take them with me then.
Glad you are doing Ok. xxx name change, AKA Frenchsmallfry btw.
